As a Project Manager when leading a project some skills are essential
    1) communication: As a Project Manager communicating with stakeholders is very crucial and necessary, when there is an issue the Project Manager needs to inform the sponsors and stakeholders when there will be a change in the project or an increase in the budget.
2)Taking responsibility: Nobody likes bad news, but when there is an issue, the project Manager is to inform the sponsors and proffer solutions

    .

  2. As a Project Manager I interact with the vendor, my boss and the head of finance. I first get details of what my boss expects from the vendor and a time frame to deliver, then I set up a meeting between my boss and the vendor. Decisions are made and I follow up with the vendor to get the Bill of quantity which is sent to the head of finance and my boss. Another meeting is set up with the vendor , my boss and the head of finance so negotiations can be made. The next is payment and project execution.

Communication with stakeholders should basically start from the onset of a project. From the sponsors to the clients and team members, there should be a clear explanation regarding everyone’s roles and level of involvement. The goals of the project should also be made clear. Honestly and clarity must be the watchword. This helps in reducing undue expectations and assumptions. These would be documented and referenced.

Modes and level of communication with stakeholders can also be based on the stakeholders roles and expectation in the project lifespan.
Project sponsors can be communicated through scheduled meetings directly with the project manager. Others can be in the forms of monitoring, information dissemination, collection of feedbacks. The project team must be communicated daily as the case maybe depending on agreed modes.

Overall, every communication with all stakeholders must be regular and open. Levels of involvement clearly written and clarified. Exaggerating a project output must be avoided.

For me I feel that he strategies that work for me are:
1.constant communication with the team on the ground, from previous experience I have had great challenges having a project manager who does not listen to feedback from the final consumer of the produce, that gave me a hard time in project implementation.
2.Reporting helps everyone to know the progress of the project and input needed from all stakeholders.
3.Getting individual meeting with stakeholders helps alot in reviewing project issues, especially when things are not on the right track.
4.Ensuring the stakeholders understand the need to work under realistic time frames.
5.constant communication with the clients, keeping them updated on any plan changes, additions and keeping the team on the ground up-to-date as they carry out their tasks is another crucial task.

  5. Strategies that work for me:
    1. Tailoring communication to stakeholders needs
    2. Having one on one communication with stakeholders
    3. Having a written, planned communication plan

  6. The strategies that works for me are–
    1) Tailoring my communication plan to suit individual project stakeholders.
    2) Not bringing bad news to the table without first discussing it with individual stakeholders before a round table meeting.
    3) Communicating with all lines of stakeholders.
    4) Having a written communication plan.

  7. Team 9.

How to communicate with the stakeholders:
    1. Tailor your conversation according to the stakeholder
    2. Have a written down plan
    3. Constant communication during the project period is key
    4. Making sure everybody are working according to the schedule
    5. Before bringing bad news to the table, also find possible solutions.

  8. Communicating individually with your various stakeholders helps to have a personal views about your work assessment with them.
It helps to get a good view of your progress and your lapses as seen by the Stakeholders

  9. Constant communication is really important as it keeps everyone briefed and aware of the level of progress of the project. Daily communication will help in foreseeing issues and analyzing them to give the necessary solution. It keeps everyone prepared and not shocked by matters arising.

One of the project managers in the video made a statement “Don’t be afraid to bring bad news to the table”. In my view existing communication and a good plan to communicate with the stakeholders will make it easier to discuss the bad news and to find a solution to it together.

Holding onto the statement of one of the project managers “Never bring bad news for the first time in the forum”. This isn’t talking about not sharing the odd situation with the stakeholders but it emphasises having a good communication plan, that tells when and how to relate matters to the stakeholders duly.
Having to discuss the odd situation with individuals before a general meeting would do more to the acceptance level in the general meeting.

  10. Communication must be holistic in project managemnt. Communication with peers to be in line with the working trend, communication ywith the sponsor/line managers to earn their continuous support of the project, communication with project team members to help the project manager stay proactive on issues, and finally be in constant communication with the clients to buy their additional support in areas that need change. Communication with the stakeholders must be holistic.

  11. Communication is key in project management. To have a successful work done, a project manager should communicate to his team/stakeholders, presenting everything as it is and not being scared of bringing bad news to the table.
As said in the video, it should have a better approach on how to present it to the team.

  12. Information is truly key in any project. Having a plan, constant communication and most importantly tailoring it to the stakeholder one is meeting can not be over emphasised. in my organisation presently, I would discuss most of our clients as analytical, people oriented and innovative. So as a Project manager, I have always tried to bring results and evidence, inspire hope and show that we care about the project at hand.

  13. The idea of not being scared of being the one to break the bad news got me so intrigued because for some one like me who focuses on Customer service management, it is often hard to tell management that there has been a decrease in sales as a result of unsatisfied customers but after watching the video and seeing how this could be resolved professionally by meeting personally with each stakeholder before bringing it to the board room, I am nau certain that bad news are essentially part of the ways to grow a company if it is communicated well😁.

  14. The importance of constant and concise communication cannot be overemphasised. In a construction setting, I’m of the opinion that all three strategies mentioned are quite important: constant communication; tailoring communication to who you are relating to and having a communication plan. There has to be constant communication between the project team and the stakeholders because construction mostly involves a lot of change orders. The industry involves a lot of diverse professionals; therefore, communication has to be tailored to everyone to aid effective communication. Having a communication plan helps, as every member of the team knows the plan to follow thoroughly and knows what is expected of them.

  15. In project management effective communication is key. How that a project manager is in the right position to ensure that all deemed information is communicated to the parties/stakeholders. And also, in some cases it’s important to present evidence and data to backup what a product manager is trying to communicate so as to enhance proper understand among parties involved in the project. All this, is so that there’ll be cooperate participation in ensuring that the project is achieved as planned.

  16. As mentioned in the video by the three project managers, one cannot but emphasize that Communication with all stakeholders plays crucial role in ensuring the success of every projects. Hence, project manager needs to be apt in communication skills to present clear and concise up to date information at all times. This can be done either as verbal or written, informal or formal depending the information to be shared or obtained or circumstances involve and also communication its also important in dealing with all project team member so all can be in sync at all times with the scope, timeline, set deliverables for achievement of the project.

  17. Communication is a very vital tool in pm and it’s important to always communicate as clearly as possible. One thing that piqued my interest is to not be afraid to communicate any changes in project cos it’s my duty as a pm to deliver projects.

  20. Some of the strategies suggested by the Project managers that apply well in my situation is
Daily communication to ensure that stakeholders are up to date with the plans of the project, any addition, adjustment, or information that might affect the project, it’s timing and the stakeholders.
Have a written down communication plan for all the stakeholders so as to ensure everyone is getting the right information and feedback they need.

Tailor your communication to suit the individual in front of you. You need to know your team members to pull through on this. So you can communicate with them in the best way they can understand the information using an approach that suits them.

  21. A good communication builds some level of trust between the Project Manager, and the Client.
When there’s a clear communication between the PM, Team, and the client, It makes for a Successful project tasks

  22. Effective communication among stakeholders helps manage risk in project management. And when communicating, use of ambiguous words should not be allowed.

  23. Effective Communication and constant communication with other stakeholder help to share ideas together that with improve the increase of speed of task that is given in project
as a Project Manager you don’t walk in isolation, walking in isolation don’t make you expert of a field
    constant communication
    1. Trust
    2. feedback of task
    3. improve strength of duty
    4, reduce waste of time

  60. Project Manager (PM): Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you for joining this meeting to discuss our new community park project. Our primary goal today is to outline our communication plan with stakeholders to ensure everyone is informed and engaged throughout the project. Let’s start by identifying our key stakeholders. Can anyone share their thoughts on who these stakeholders might be?

Team Member 1 (TM1): I think the local residents are our primary stakeholders since the park is for their benefit. We should also include local businesses, as they might be affected by the construction and could potentially benefit from increased foot traffic.

Team Member 2 (TM2): Don’t forget the local government and city council. We need their approvals and they can also provide funding or other resources. Additionally, local environmental groups might be interested, especially if we plan to include natural habitats or green spaces.

PM: Great points. So far, we have local residents, businesses, the city council, and environmental groups. Let’s also consider our internal stakeholders, such as the project team and our contractors. Now, what are the best ways to communicate with these groups?

TM1: For the local residents, we could hold public meetings and provide updates through a dedicated website or social media channels. Flyers and newsletters could also be effective for reaching a broader audience.

TM2: For the city council and government officials, formal reports and presentations would be necessary. Regular progress updates and formal communication channels, such as emails and official letters, should be used to keep them informed.

PM: I agree. It’s important to tailor our communication methods to each stakeholder group. For the environmental groups, we might consider hosting special sessions where they can give input on the park’s design and environmental impact.

TM1: What about local businesses? They might prefer quick updates via email or even brief in-person visits to discuss how the project might affect them.

PM: That’s a good idea. We could also consider setting up a local business advisory panel that meets periodically to discuss their concerns and suggestions.

TM2: And for our internal stakeholders, regular team meetings, progress reports, and a shared project management platform will keep everyone aligned and informed.

PM: Excellent. To summarize, we’ll use public meetings, a website, social media, flyers, and newsletters for local residents; formal reports and presentations for the city council; dedicated sessions for environmental groups; email updates and advisory panels for local businesses; and regular team meetings and project management tools for our internal stakeholders. Does anyone have any additional suggestions or concerns?

TM1: This sounds comprehensive. My only concern is ensuring we have enough resources to manage all these communication channels effectively.

PM: Good point. We’ll need to allocate some of our budget and personnel to handle communications. We might also consider hiring a dedicated communication coordinator. I’ll look into the specifics and share a proposal in our next meeting. Any other thoughts?

TM2: Nothing else from me. This sounds like a solid plan.

PM: Great. Thank you for your input. Let’s reconvene next week to finalize our communication plan and begin implementation. Meeting adjourned.

This discussion example illustrates the process of identifying stakeholders, considering their communication needs, and planning appropriate communication strategies.

  65. The communication that work best for my organisation is constant clear communication and reporting feedbacks.

  66. Communication is the life blood of any relationship, and that includes relationships with stakeholders on a project.
It’s important as a PM to handle communication based on who is before you. How does the person want to be communicated to? How do they want to receive reports? etc.
Something that stood out for me in the video and will be important for my work is not to drop bad news for the first time in a forum. It’s best to reach out to stakeholders individually and relay the information before convening a forum, that way you can manage their responses properly.

  67. Communication is very vital in interacting with people and individuals, not just communication but effective communication, that is passing information to an individual or a group of people the best way you possibly can.

    – Email communication
    – Etc

  70. There should be constant communication with project manager and clients/stakeholders. As matter of fact there should be oral and written, because it will foresees and addresses future challenges on the project.

  71. Communication should be in both oral and written form.
It should be written down for planning purpose like a to do list. Each step in a project should be communicated ahead to second, third or more parties or teams .

  72. Constant communication with clients by project managers helps in foreseeing problems among the team. When having conversation with the stakeholders, tailor your communication style to your audience. This helps in effectiveness.

  194. Communication with stakeholders is key for the success of the project.
I will tend to support the second Project Manager in his style of communication.
The more informal method of communicating with stakeholders, tailoring your communication style to individual preferences has a way of making the stakeholders feel like a part of the process.
In this case the PM has created a connection with the stakeholders which will facilitate approvals as well as necessary changes as the project may require.

  195. In my organization, a clear communication tailored to each stakeholder is important. Daily reporting, weekly meetings and reminders are ways to ensure timely and effective communications. It is important to have a communication plan mapped out.

If we want to use analytical process to express the process then we need to come up with data and evidence to convey the message to the stakeholder. The essence is to carry them along every step of the way. Just to be more professional, we can draft out a communication plan for this course.

  198. In my situation, it’s important to adapt communication strategies to different stakeholders, just as project managers do. Some applicable strategies include:

Tailoring communication channels: Utilizing various mediums such as email, meetings, or reports based on stakeholders’ preferences and needs.

Building relationships: Investing time and effort in building strong relationships with stakeholders to enhance communication effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.

By implementing these strategies, I can effectively communicate with stakeholders and ensure their continued support and involvement in our research projects.

  199. In my organization, clear and timely communication with stakeholders is key. we usually use various communication channels viz;
    1. Daily progress report which is done via email to all stakeholders comprising of project progress per milestone, key risks and support required.
    2. Various WhatsApp groups for instant updates and progress communication
    3. Physical/virtual daily/weekly review meeting to discuss project progress, address risks and support required

  200. As a project manager, communication with stakeholders is one of the major determinant of the success of the project.
It is even more important to prefer for every interaction in writing be it to the sponsor, client, peers or project team.
Before attending a reporting meetings, arm yourself with the likely questions to be asked then provide answers without necessarily trying to defend your position instead let them lead the discussion.

  201. All speakers emphasised on communication but with different ways to communicate. Communication enables the project manager to envision problems within the project and adjust accordingly

  202. We maintain an open line of written and sometimes oral communication in the execution of tasks. We ensure that the instructions or commands are clear and follow up tasks are better documented.

  203. According to Bill Wooten, in communicating with stakeholders, he maintains the iterative approach. For Emanuele, building a communication map for each stakeholder is important. While Cathy emphasizes the need for written communication (report writing). Within the context of my organisation where multiple projects are being taken up at the same time, the iterative approach where the progress of the project is communication with each completed milestones.

  204. As a project manager, it is crucial to establish clear and open lines of communication with stakeholders to ensure that everyone understands the project goals, expectations, and progress. This alignment facilitates collaboration, minimizes misunderstandings, and enables timely decision-making, ultimately contributing to the successful delivery of the project.

  205. Communication is one of the most important skills for a project manager to have and they did a good job in communicating, it’s impossible to keep everyone on the same page without communication to make sure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities, and ensure that the project is running smoothly. As a project manager I should know how to communicate with my team members clearly, both orally and in writing.

  206. Communication is a great skill to be worked on, Passing across the right information without being misinterpreted or other people getting a different meaning is a very good skill.
As a PM I have learnt that dropping a piece of bad news on a group of stakeholders is like dropping a bombshell and might not go well in the long run but you can do well by meeting them one by one and escalating the issues to them and this make me realize that communicating some information to the stakeholders as a group is determined by the kind of information we need to pass across.

  207. Communication is emphasis much on by the speakers and I am wow by their communication skills and understanding.
As a project manager i agree that communication skills should be built more on and emphasis on as without it stakeholders involved in the activities of managing project or series of project will find it difficult to carry out a successful project and action plan

In order to obtain thorough feedback from stakeholders, it is critical for project managers to recognize that good communication is essential, and that we should customize our communication approach to each stakeholder’s area of expertise.

  209. The three project managers all demonstrated strong communication skills. However, the approach I’ve endeavored to adopt within my team focuses on developing a comprehensive communication plan. This plan outlines the recipients of communication, the timing of communication, the methods employed for communication, the content of communication, and strategies tailored to different team members’ needs and preferences. It’s essential to recognize that individuals within the team have varying communication styles and requirements.
Furthermore, effective communication extends beyond conveying positive news; it also involves addressing challenges and failures transparently. It’s crucial to articulate setbacks and collaboratively devise strategies for overcoming them. Transparency with stakeholders is paramount throughout this process.

  210. What got my attention is what one of the project managers said. She said a project manager needs to have a communication chat. I believe this skill will me to be able to process my words and express it well. I need to know what to say, how and when to say them. I need to arrange and express my information or discussion with either the team members or the stakeholders without conflict.
More importantly, communication skill is very essential for project manager to execute a successful project.

  211. The three project managers spoke really good, but the one I have tried to apply in my team work is setting or drafting a communication chat, stating who to communicate, when to communicate, how to communicate, what to communicate and also strategies in communication because, all team members or individuals are not the same. So I must have and know the right words to use when needed. Another thing is communication is not just all about passing goods news so to say but also passing bad new to the team like failure and how to come out of it. Just make sure u are very transparent to the stakeholders.

  212. Since the stakeholders may not necessarily be knowledgeable about project planning, communication is therefore, key to a successful project. The Project Manager shouldn’t bring to the table at a first meeting, the problems so as not to discourage anyone from the outset. This doesn’t equal being clandestine about issues. After his own personal findings, thinking and development, he can then come back to the table and present the advantages and disadvantages of the steps, levels and all involving the project.
Also, communication with the stakeholders adequately, enable each member to be upfront and be willing to open up on their thoughts and progress on the project.
In conclusion, a project isn’t a one-man assignment, every stakeholder should be properly carried along as two or more good heads yield better results.

  213. Communication is essential for ensuring clarity, alignment, and collaboration among team members and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
An also in addition it helps to put every stakeholder on the project on the same page, thus reducing surprises and friction between team members and stakeholders.

First plan the communication in advance, state the Objective of the project, the goals, the budget and expected outcome of the project. The communication plan can be written to show the processes involved, the risk management can be documented to reduce taking the same risk in the future.
Communicate the progress of the project to the stakeholders, be transparent and honest.

  216. I think it will be better to combine the trio ideas though they are thesame… Constant communication, planning communication in advance using the stakeholders map. Reporting at every change or addition is also key.

  217. Communicating with the stakeholders is very important as to help carry them along the details of the project. Also there’s a need be detailed and organised while Communicating about the project at hand so as to help the stakeholders understand what the project entails.

If we must be a people oriented person so as to communicate the necessary information to them. We must not be afraid to table out any issue but at the same time we must be confident of providing possible solutions to the problem. If we want to use analytical process to express the process then we need to come up with data and evidence to convey the message to the stakeholder. The essence is to carry them along every step of the way. Just to be more professional, we can draft out a communication plan for this course.

  229. Communication is always key to any relationship, often times when an information is not communicated or well communicated there’s always an impending challenge. What has worked for me is that I always have my points drafted out onto a paper and I follow it to the latter. Thanks to technology there are more effective ways of communicating based on the client preference, I know of personalities that loves to chat, I know of those that always demand a one on one meeting while there are others that just want a briefing through videos.

  232. Communication for me is an integral part of any project.Effective communication helps to interact with stakeholders more efficiently and it improves the productivity of a project.

  233. The biggest problem with in-person meetings is that often not everyone who is involved in a project can attend. People have busy schedules, and it’s tough to find a time slot that works for everyone.

This is especially true for organizations that have team members spread across the country or around the world or that work with remote freelancers. A remote meeting fixes this, allowing everyone to attend no matter where they are, and so you won’t lose their valuable input.

Example: A team must communicate a client’s needs for a project; however, half the team is at the company’s headquarters while the other half are at their branch. Rather than fly everyone in for the meeting or conduct two meetings, they set up a quick business video chat and easily hold the meeting with everyone attending.

A video conference also improves employee coordination. When employees try to work on an issue over email, it means a lot of back and forth. If you get everyone on a video conferencing call, however, they’ll be able to talk through issues more quickly. You could hold regular and impromptu meetings with freelancers and full-time employees.

This setup is ideal for project teams spread out over multiple locations. Video conferencing gives many companies the option of having a tight-knit team with no office, saving the company a lot of money.

Example: Austin gets an urgent request from a client about a project. He holds a video call with his team and they brainstorm ideas on how to deal with the time-sensitive issue. They come up with a solution and thrill the client with an almost immediate answer to his issue.

  326. For a Project Manager, communication is key to ensure mutual agreement and understand between the stakeholders and the rest of the team members.
Communication before the project is important to know how the project will run also communication while the project is on going is important to track the success, failures and possible challenges so that they can be fixed on time. Also still communicate after the project to maintain relationship with your stakeholders and team members.

  327. Communication is a very important aspect of project management.
Communicating with the stake holders is a crucial part of every project because this is where you share the aim, goals, mission and vision of the project.
Communication with all stakeholders often and in time also helps to ensure that the project is successful.

  328. As a project manager, communication is a key skill required in other to be able to achieve best results and get the project completed as soon as possible. Planning the communication ahead has proven to be of great help because enough preparation would have happened in order not to go off point or go blank.
Another thing is tailoring the communication style to the person I’m conversing with, if the person is analytical I know I shouldn’t meet him or her without bringing evidence to back up my points.

Also, I’ve learnt that bad news about a project shouldn’t be presented at first meeting although after subsequent meetings, it could be presented but with possible solution in mind.

As a project manager, it’s also important I communicate with my team mates and also give reports and feedbacks to stakeholders

  329. As project manager it is extremely important to consider every aspects of communication as it strengthen relationship between the project team and the stakeholders.
You need to understand your stakeholders before you attempt them to understand you or your project, reason why you have to consider getting stakeholders talking to each other, where appropriate.
You have to be clear, listen actively and involve them in decisions, maintain an encouraging and positive tone when engaging your stakeholders. An effective communication with stakeholders can offer insights into potential roadblocks and guide you on how to overcome obstacles that may come your way and also help in identifying areas where improvements can be made.
One thing is vital to mention, as a project manager you have to be able to diffuse negative emotions or conflict and be prepared to review your message based on the feedbacks you’re receiving.

  330. Effective communication is very important in anything worth doing at all in life. I found out and noticed in my organization that whenever the process of achieving an objective is not moving at the right and expected pace, it is usually surrounded by lack of effective communication. Knowing how to communicate to/with people in different ways with strategies that fits with the best way the communication can be well perceived which in return enhance everyone aligning to the goal of the project, meeting up with the timeline, help to manage and resolve challenges that may arise. But when communication is not effective, the success of any project is impossible. The stakeholders will definitely not go on with sponsoring the project anymore as they feel the project manager is not doing a great job and this is why a project manager needs to be conversant with the project at hand.

  331. Constant communication with all lines is very essential because it carries every one along on the project. The communication should be timely, transparent and scheduled at the right time using the right medium too.

Reporting to stakeholders and getting feedback from them is key too so that they can be aware of how the project is going and to be sure you are on the right course . Stakeholders should not be neglected at any point in time. Study their personality and build a relationship with them that will help the project to be successful.

All teams should be considered in the communication lines, those at the field should be carried along too

  332. I think it’s very essential for a project manager to have an in-depth understanding of personality types and what stands as core values for their stakeholders in other to communicate which each of them effectively and efficiently.

This communication should be timely, transparent with a well-defined channel and format as preferred by the stakeholders to avoid unnecessary setbacks.

A project manager should be able to pay keen attention to details by taking note of unspoken words, body cues, gestures, facial expressions, choice of words and so on. This helps the project manager to gauge the stakeholders, their standpoints and how to address the situation properly.

  333. Adapting communication to different types of stakeholders involves understanding their needs, preferences, and interests. Here are some strategies:
Determine who the stakeholders are and what their roles are in the project. It is important you understand their Interests and Needs.Consider what each stakeholder group wants to know about the project and how it affects them.
communication to each stakeholder group’s preferences and level of expertise. For example, executives may need high-level summaries, while technical teams may require detailed reports.Use communication channels that resonate with each stakeholder group. This could include email, meetings, reports, presentations, or even social media platforms.

By adapting communication strategies to the specific needs of each stakeholder group, project teams can effectively engage stakeholders and foster collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

  334. in my organization, effective communication is fundamental to successful project execution, this ensures that all parties involved are aligned with the project objectives, timeline and deliverables. it gives room for increased transparency, better risk management , improves collaboration among staffs. and cultivation of positive project culture.

Communication with stakeholders in a project involves keeping them informed about the project’s progress, involving them in decision-making processes, addressing their concerns, and ensuring their expectations are managed effectively. It’s about maintaining open and transparent lines of communication to build trust and alignment between the project team and stakeholders.

  336. Communication is as important as the air we breath in a project……. The PM must make sure that he carries every body along, from the client, project team and the stakeholders so as to have a smooth takeoff and timely completion.

  337. Communication is as important as the air we breath in a project……. The PM must make sure that he carries every body along, from the client, project team and the stakeholders so as to have a smooth takeoff and timely completion

  338. Communication is very key…
I would prefer to have my content of communication planned out so as not to go off point during discussion with stakeholders and sponsors,
So the PM needs to first of all be concerned about the discussed project and not be afraid bringing issues to the table even while trying not to be negative at first instance.

  339. As an upcoming project manager, constant communication with the stakeholders is what I held on to. Meeting the stakeholders individually to show them the evidence of what is on ground and juxtapose if it’s complementing and in line with their needs. Not being scared of bringing ideas to the discussion table is a great one because project manager are ought to endowed with problem solving skills.

As a startup entrepreneur, effective communication with investors and employees is paramount, considering they are distinct stakeholders requiring tailored approaches. I am inclined to adopt the approach proposed by the previous speaker, advocating for the dissemination of bad news outside the conference room setting. This method proves more streamlined and allows for individual meetings with each stakeholder, affording them the chance to digest the issue and brainstorm potential solutions beforehand. Such personalized interaction fosters a sense of inclusion and esteem among team members and investors alike.

  341. Communication is a key factor that is needed and all parties must understand their role(s) and what is expected of them.
Feedback is also expected from all parties so as to keep track if they are on the same path and still making progress

  342. In a project committee , communication is one of the essential factor within the stake holders in a construction industries but the way its been disseminate must be check
within the different stakeholder e.g the information client will get might not be same as peers or mate.
    secondly, communication should be break down to the last bit for the understanding of the people at bottom of the pyramid i.e in case of construction projects ;

  343. Mfon Brendan

Communication in my organization is very crucial as this helps to Foster a positive and collaborative environment.
For parents, we adopt a two-way Communication where feedbacks are received through parent-teacher meetings. We ensure that Communication is also very timely as this will keep them updated about the organization’s goals, and weekly and weekly progress of their wards.
Also, the medium or strategy mostly used in communicating with parents is newsletters.
For the teachers, Communication helps them stay on board with the organizational goals and also helps to build trust and this is achieved through period meetings either one-on-one or general staff meetings.

  344. In my organization, one of the key things that i utilize more is constant reporting, the management needs to be constantly updated on the activities in different sites.

  345. In my organisation situation constant communication is important in making success in any project. Focusing on different communication styles to interact with several stakeholders is paramount

  346. In my organization context, communication is the key the progress. Either planning, implementation or deliverable communication keeps being the base of the flow of information between the teams members. Actually, we are grouped into teams depending on our roles and responsibilities. Every team has a team leader who constantly communicates with other team members and leads them to achieve a common goal. That team leader is also responsible to directly communicate with the top management about any particular agenda or issue to address. If there is a need of communication between top management and all team members, a general meeting is organized for sharing information and any other agenda.

  347. Effective communication is paramount in any project, especially when it involves stakeholders. The reason for its significance lies in the potential impact stakeholders may experience, whether directly or indirectly, and their inherent desire for ongoing feedback on project progress. As a project manager, transparency is key, and withholding information from stakeholders is not an option. They should be continuously informed and engaged throughout the project journey to ensure alignment of schedules and visions, thereby fostering a collaborative environment conducive to success.

  348. The communication skill is very essential key in project management. Effective communication is even more essential. As a PM, one has to be strategic in the manner of communication with each stakeholder.

  349. In my journey as a project manager, I must always remember to tailor my communication accordingly with respect to different personalities of stakeholders to achieve maximum efficiency

The key to project management is constant communication with all lines of control (client), the Project manager needs to dialling speak with the client concerning ongoing changes in the project and in addition, communicating with the project team. Planning communication to have a mapping with the stakeholders is essential for the overall progress of the project

  351. In project management, It is very essential to consider communication as a top tool to being successful. Most especially reporting to sponsors as it is important to give updates and communicate clearly to sponsors at all time.

  352. Mapping out the communication plan, tailoring the communication to meet the needs of each stakeholder, and getting feedback to have a clearer picture, if the communication plan is meeting the intended purposes are key strategies that have worked for me in my organisation in engaging stakeholders.
A major takeaway for me is not to be afraid to bring bad news to the table because one of the roles of the Project Manager is to ensure issues are resolved. However, dropping bad news in a forum would be a bad decision to make as a Project Manager, instead approach each stakeholder to update him/her on the current realities. Then, when such issues are brought to the open house, there are no surprises

  353. Communicating with stakeholders is key to achieving success in any project. Communicating boosts understanding of clients needs as well as expectations for every project. Through communications, project managers can pass on a more realistic outcome to extraordinary expectations at the beginning, and during the project, they can also ensure that the stakeholders are carried along effectively. Through the lessons learned from the last class, it is important to note that project managers cannot lead with bad news; instead, through segmentation and personal communications, they share the news with individual parts of the clientele.

  354. In my approach to handling stakeholders, I prefer having one-on-one conversations before bringing everyone together in a group setting. This method helps in smoothing out potential conflicts and ensuring a better understanding among all parties involved. I’ve noticed that, sometimes, the only thing stakeholders share in common is the project itself. They come from various backgrounds, have different perspectives, and might not always see eye to eye.

By reaching out individually first, I get to build a personal connection with each stakeholder. It gives them the chance to express their thoughts and concerns privately. This helps in avoiding conflicts that could arise in a larger group. Additionally, I believe in gathering solutions from each stakeholder during these one-on-one talks. It gives me a chance to analyze their perspectives before we come together as a group.

I find that this individualized approach goes a long way in building trust. It shows stakeholders that I value their opinions and respect their unique viewpoints. Plus, tailoring my communication to their background and concerns helps in creating a more positive and open dialogue.

While stakeholders might have different walks of life and varying views, I always bring the focus back to the project. Emphasizing the common interest we all share in the project helps to unite everyone and keeps us focused on the end goal.

In the end, I believe that effective stakeholder management involves continuous communication and understanding. Being proactive in addressing concerns individually before group meetings contributes to a more collaborative decision-making process.

  355. Drawing from the lessons shared and aligning them with the context of my job as a humanitarian. When ensuring the deliverables of my task at on time, precise and detailed, the needs for constant and regular communication is key between project manager, his project team members in the field, partners and stakeholders is paramount in meeting datelines and achieving the objectives of the project as a whole. And also a written communication for specific set of team members comes in handy in different streter of the projects couple with knowing the needs of your audience in every communication helps to tailor how a manager communicate effectively with stakeholders.

  356. From the lesson given it is important to have a good style of communication, not necessarily great but as time goes on it will become essential in how to convey information to different stakeholders in the project.
As well, it is important to note that the sensitivity of information to be shared or disclosed to the stakeholders matters; for instance, bringing a negative or bad report to the first (general) meeting of stakeholders is NOT a good move rather what should be done is to communicate discretely and separately with each stakeholder.
This way the stakeholders already have understanding of the situation before coming in for a meeting and then are expectant of a solution to be preferred by you and well as their feedback supporting/refining your solution as a way to move forward.

  357. It is important to have good and effective communication with stakeholders/clients. This keeps everyone involved on the same page.

  358. Communication with stake holder is very important. It is because they might be impacted or not and they would want to have the feedback of how the project is going. As a project manager no information should be hidden from your stakeholder. He/she must be carried along on every step of the project.

  359. Communication with stakeholders is very necessary in every project. This is because stakeholders can be directly and indirectly impacted by the project and would love to know the progress as well as the hiccups involved as well as you take note of their expressions of feedback which allows one as a project manager to know when to apply changes /corrections and to ensure that everyone including them is carried along in any and every activity involved in the project. Also, it creates a room of flowy communication, ensures trust , transparency and strengthen the bond between you and the stakeholders.

  360. Continuous communication is important to identify timely issues and monitor progress in an ongoing project. Daily communication with clients and stakeholders is key to understanding if the task given is executed appropriately and to probably foresee future problems that might result in negative performance from key actors in a project. Communication should be planned and tailored towards each client and even the project sponsor to evaluate the report based on the project outcome. This will help clients to understand how the system works and monitor progress at every stage of execution. The project Manager needs to be ready to face any risk associated with the project being executed. This is what helped the three Project Managers interviewed in the video.

  361. I will communicate effectively with stakeholders for the success of the project.
I will have a communication plan jotted down in order not to miss the important informations

  362. Communication skill is very essential key in project management. It aids to promote achievement of project to be executed in a stipulated time. Ability to communicate with the stakeholders to know if there is any changes or in need of relative equipments will foster time management to be achieved. And also it allows problem to be solved when any of such arises on the ways of executing project. It cannot be exempted in the skill a project manager should acquired because it is one of the bedrock for successful accomplishment of projects.

  363. I learned that effective and planned communication with my team and stakeholders is important for having a positive result as a project manager.

  364. I learnt from the video I watched that effective communication as a project manager with stakeholders, clients, and project teams is crucial as it directly impacts the feasibility of project execution. It also encourages open suggestions from the team and allows everyone to contribute their ideas. Moreover, delivering unfavorable news to your teams is not necessarily negative, but it should be communicated in a way that fosters understanding.

  365. My technical manager for example during field work, I observed when field technicians communicate their challenges at every stage without a solution he gets frustrated about the situation, he doesn’t entertain too many explanations without solution or getting the job done. So what I do is when I’m giving him report from my end, I’d be sure to have done a few troubleshooting and tried all possible solutions from my end before giving him a detailed report including observation, troubleshooting, adopted methods to get solution. These approach has always worked as we have less issues even if I’m not able to delivered a desired result personally. We then work on a solution together. In essence, As much as communication is key in every project in order to achieve desired goal, so is the way or method of disseminating information also important. This is to avoid misinformation I.e passing the right information to the wrong stakeholder as each stakeholders have their level of understanding of the project. I.e Stakeholders have different interests and priorities about the project.

For example, my clients are more interested in the efficacy, durability and sustainability of the project hence, they’re more interested in the progress and less of challenges and setbacks in the project. Sponsors are motivated by information that gives them the motivation that their resources are being put to good use. So while communicating with these stakeholders, letting them know of the challenges and setback in the proces, we need to also communicate the best solution as an assurance that we know what we are doing.
Peers and project team are the best people to confide in. As regarding the project, they’re actively involved, they’re in place to foresee the outcome of each stage of the project in terms of experience etc. they can offer solution in times of challenges.

  366. Communication I without doubt one of the most important aspects and tools of project management. It is the engine that drives the project from the very start to finish. However, organisations differ and so does stakeholders and project sponsors. This is where your observation skills come to play. You must observe the key players and beyond whom they are, you must know who they are. Are they action oriented, spontaneous or laid back and analytical? These will Inform the method of communication with them.

In my PPA where I currently work, my boss is a goal getter who dares to achieve whatever his mind can think of, he is action oriented but at the same time is always full of his own ideas that it seems his own ideas are always better. In this case as a project manager communication with him as a stakeholder might go differently because he will always have suggestions to give even if you don’t see his visions.
Although it all boils down to the decisions you as the PM make at the end of the day, the advantage might be that you have a stakeholder that is capable of bringing fresh perspectives and solutions; even when you lack them. So in this case the question “what do you think…?” comes in handy. You might want to prepare a comprehensive detailed report for him and at the same time brainstorm to get possible solutions and present them too. Even if he doesn’t change what you have in mind, he might be of help fine-tuning or generating more possible solutions.

  367. Communication inside and outside the project team is a vital skill that a project manager must possess and from the video I watched, I learned everything that need to be communicated should be written down so as to know how to organize the presentation of what to say and how to say it.

  368. Communication inside and outside the project team is a very critical and vital tool in ensuring project success and completion. As said by the lady in the video, reporting is the key to making sure everyone understands the level of progress on a project. As a project manager, it is expected that everyone is carried along at every stage of a project.

  369. from the video I watched, I learned that the way you communicate as project manager to your stakeholders, client and project teams matter a lot because it determines how possible the execution of the project is going to be and let be open suggestion from team so that them as well can contribute their own ideas. and bring bad new to your teams is never a bad idea but you should put it in a such way will understand.

  370. As a project manager, communication is very important and essential. You need to always communicate with the stakeholders and clients always. I have gained the insight on how to present a matter to the stakeholders/client in a way they should be able to understand, and also not to bring bad news on the table for the first time. As a project manager, you should be able to carry the stake holders along in the progress of the project.

  371. From the video, i have learn how different project managers communicate with stakeholders, the need to also have a strategy for communication

  372. From the video I have learnt the importance of studying the service users or stakeholders; and to also build relationships, and trust with them. Frequent communication will help to build a bond with them. Also remember to seek for feedback.

  373. Internal and external communication is critical for company/ organization development. from this video, I have gained insights on how to deal with delivery of bad information.

  374. Communicating with the internal stakeholder and understanding the needs for the request is key to ensuring alignment with the external stakeholders. This is very integral at my job as an Analyst.

  375. Communication is very important as a project manager,he needs to be speaking to the client and the workers on a daily basis to know if there is any problem and provide solutions to it.
As a project manager, you don’t bring bad news first to the forum but rather speak to one or two team members and provide solutions before bringing it up.

  376. Communication is the main key ingredient as a project manager.
Constant and regular flow of information with all involve make things easier as it guarantees problem solving and feedbacks, also one needs to understand the communication style that suits the sponsor, clients, project team and other project managers within the project.
plus having a communication plan would greatly help as well

  377. Communication is very crucial when handling a project because it makes you see unforeseen problems, you will be able to deal with it.Reporting should be regular because it makes everyone understand the level of progress

  378. First, I got to understand that communicating with the project sponsor, clients, project team members and peers/other project managers is crucial.

The strategies that most apply in my present organization are:
    1. Writing down all my intended communications with the different stakeholders.
    2. Bring up evidence to back every statement I make to the project sponsor, who is analytical.

  379. Effective communication management is very vital as a project manager, that will enhance ones relationship with his team members as well as the relevant stakeholders who are directly in involve in the project. even negotiation cannot be effective without effective communication.

  380. Without a sufficient project communication plan, it’s impossible to keep all responsible parties up-to-date on the changing status of the project. There’s a lack of transparency which eventually leads to inefficient, counterproductive decisions that will hinder the aims of the project in question.
So communication is key, to have a successful project.

  381. To have a successful project, communication is very key. There should be a flow of information from the project manager to the stakeholders and the team members. Communicate frequently and build a bond with them.Seek their opinion in every activity and ensure you carry them along .

  384. Communication is key in ensuring transparency in project management. The more we keep silent the more it keeps stakeholders in the guess of what next or what could be transpiring and opens room for different side talks that are at times negative and could ruin the project.

  385. Communication is very vital while carrying out a project work, because it helps to discover issues or challenges stakeholders or clients might cause during the course of the project. It also helps with understanding the scope of the project and ways it can be carried out

  386. As a project manager, effective communication cannot be over emphasized as it helps you to make sure all those involved in the project are working in the same time schedule

  387. Communication as a factor in Project management cannot be overemphasized, albeit ceaseless ‘scientific approach’ while communicating distinguishes a genuine Project Manager.

  388. Being able to communicate the progress of a project frequently to the stakeholders helps for easy resolving of unsertinty during the exsactuon of a project therefore a project manager should not overlook the place of engaging all the stakeholders at all given time.

  389. In my case, best suitable for of communication would be written, as it will be documented just in case. Painting the precise picture and not being scared if it is bad news but as a project manager I would have proffer solution and way out

  390. As a project manager, Communication with stakeholders is really important.l It’s essential to keep everyone informed and engaged throughout the process. Stakeholders can include clients, team members, investors, and even the general public. It’s important to tailor your communication to each stakeholder group, and make sure they have the information they need to make decisions and provide input.

  391. As a project manager, consistent updates and communications with the stakeholders makes it easy to identify and attend to problems easily and collectively. Also constant communication with stakeholders will make it easy for the project manager to understand the tune of the stakeholders therefore making the PM to give adequate and important informations clearly.

  392. Understanding individual communication preference and knowing how to switch between different communication styles is what will keep you on top of your game as a project manager.

  393. To stay ahead of the game, then you need to understand the importance of proper communication. And as a project manager, effective communication is non-negotiable. It’s what separates the winners from the rest. So, let’s make sure we communicate clearly and confidently, and drive our projects to success!

  395. As a Project Manager, the key and mostly important is your communication with all the stakeholders. Regular communication with stakeholder before the starting of the Project, when the project is going on and if possible after you have deliver.

A regular communication with stakeholder help to build trust, good and regular communication with stakeholder will help you to know when and where a quick changes or adjustment is needed.

  396. I will prefer a communication style were I have one on one conversations with the stakeholders individually, before the round table forum.

  397. Communication is very important,
It plays a vital role in my life as a talent manager. It’s very important to communicate to my artist and producers in other to be on the same level and not to be misunderstood. It’s important to know how to communicate bad and good news. Communication is important in every aspect of my life.

  411. communicating with stakeholders, is quite a challenging feat, especially in situations where, varying interest has to be harmonized. in my organization, i have learnt that, key to the success of a project manager, is empathy towards your team and whatever they might be going through, this gives them a sense of belonging, and showing that you aren’t just the boss, but also a friend.
secondly, no news either good or bad, should be kept from the table, everyone should be carried along. But timing and manner of communication of the information is critical .

  412. Sometimes bad situation happen during a project that as a project manager, one may be tempted to hide such development by managing it without the knowledge of the other stakeholders. Often, situations like that could develop to a bigger problem that may jeopardize the success of the project if not discuss at the early stage(as it occurs). The suggestion for a project manager not to be afraid of bringing bad news to the table for discussion and possible solution is a worthy one. However, the project manager must be extremely smart in communicating such situation. It’s a good idea for the PM to pre-inform each stakeholder as he plan to meet the whole team so as to eliminate that element of surprise that may cast doubt on his ability to manage communication.

  413. What works well for my organization is constant communication with the stakeholders backed up with pictures, graph, data etc. It helps for the stakeholders to be aware of what is happening and the stage of the project we are at and if any equipment or more finances is needed or if there are any issues and what plan is there to resolve the issue to enable us progress with the project.

Constant communication is the key and it helps build trust and transparency between you and the stakeholders.

  414. You can’t be a successful Project Manager with a poor communication, it mean communication is the key skill every PM must possess at the first line.

  415. A proficient project manager must possess excellent communication abilities when engaging with clients, stakeholders, and team members. Moreover, they should be adept at discerning the emotions and mental states of team members and clients, preparing agendas prior to meetings, and effectively interacting with stakeholders.

  416. Planned communication is a good approach that sit well in my opinion. Engaging each stake holder in the way that is most applicable to them in their interaction with the project.

  417. One great skill of a project manager is communication. This is to state that constant communication is vital and an integral part of a good PM, the team and projects as a whole.

With effective and constant Communication, the PM will know who to get back to either the Stakeholder or
any member of the team based on their body language.

  418. Constant communication cannot be overstated as a PM. And do not be afraid to bring bad news to the table…. Key Responsibility is Effective Communication

  419. The first quality of a good Project Manager is Communication. This is to reemphasize that constant communication is key to the success of the team and the project.

Recently, I had to run some radio announcements for a client. We had agreed the cost, number of slots and the payment strategy. However, I failed to confirm how to run the announcements, whether on a “buy now pay later” basis or on a “pay as you go” basis. So I went ahead with “pay as you go”. He paid, but I and my company lost.

This is what Project Management is emphasizing, that communication is important between the PM and clients and stakeholders, so that everyone can be on the same page as the project progresses and meet the timeline set for its completion.

With good communication, conflicts among clients and stakeholders can be detected and quashed in time to keep the project on track. In journalism, we break news; good or bad. One rule in PM is that we never be afraid to break bad news. News is news, so long as it’ll help the project succeed.

    It’s all in strategic communication.

  420. It is important to have targeted communication with each stakeholder to ensure the project runs smoothly. This type of engagement requires careful consideration, attention to detail, and thorough documentation. Our goal is to minimize any potential obstacles and ensure that the project is completed within the designated timeline and budget.
