In my role as an Executive Assistant involved in operations, I’ve found that strong negotiation skills, a solid understanding of ethics and standards, and a commitment to continuous professional development are essential.
I’ve identified these three areas; negotiation, ethics and standards, and continuing professional development as key skill gaps I’d like to improve. Strengthening my negotiation skills will help me represent the client and team more effectively in discussions with vendors, partners, and other stakeholders. Enhancing my understanding of ethics and industry standards will support sound decision-making and professional integrity. Lastly, investing in ongoing learning will ensure I stay current and adaptable in a fast-paced work environment.
To address these, I plan to take short professional courses, attend relevant webinars, and seek mentorship or peer learning opportunities when possible.
Communication and time management are skills very crucial to my current role as an EA. I have to communicate well and effectively to my teammates and also do well with time on some tasks. I do some negotiations too but I think I still have to brush up on that skill for both parties involved to be satisfied with whatever deal is at hand. Also, continual professional development is something I want to do consistently so that I can be exceptional in whatever role I take on subsequently. I really want to do well as a project manager.
All of the skills are very important in my place of work, I need to communicate properly with customers and guest, I need to negotiate with them in a way they will understand, I need to manage my time and still give them standard responds and be efficient in what I’m doing, I need to understand the environments regulations and work solely with that and while doing all this I need to be professional, I don’t have to act so flirty because I’m trying to communicate properly but be professional and still pass across the information. What I’m lacking right now is time management and I’m other to get that correctly I need to write down all I need to do in details and work accordingly and strictly with them.
My current job requires that I communicate and work with a team, I need to work on time management and communication skills. I will adopt using time management softwares to track time also take online classes on soft skills.
For me, the skill I’d want to work on would be Negotiation, followed by Communication in order of urgency.
I plan to take online short courses on these.
I will dedicate my time to learning managerial skills (which I’ve already started taking) and staying up-to-date on PM trends.
