In my current role as an Operations manager at OptimusPRO, the most required skill is communication to help understand the team’s goal and ensure that the team members are meeting up with their requirements while looking out for them. Other skills that may be required are Time management which is important to deliver tasks that make up the project’s goals on time and also negotiation skill which is important to ensure proper compensation for every team member.

In my current role as a manager at an assisted Living, several of the six project management skill areas are essential to my day-to-day responsibilities. Communication is at the core of everything I do from coordinating with staff and residents’ families to ensuring care plans are clearly understood and implemented. Time management is equally critical, especially in balancing administrative duties, staff scheduling, and the urgent needs of our residents. Understanding the regulatory environment is non-negotiable in healthcare; being aware of state and federal guidelines ensures that our facility remains compliant and residents receive safe, high-quality care. Additionally, ethics and adherence to standards guide every decision I make, from resident treatment to staff conduct, helping maintain a respectful and trustworthy environment.
That said, one area I recognize I could grow in is negotiation. Whether it’s managing vendor contracts, advocating for resources, or navigating staffing needs, strong negotiation skills would help me secure better outcomes for the facility and the people we serve. I’m actively looking for opportunities to strengthen this skill, as I know it would enhance my overall effectiveness as a leader
In my role as a child tutor, communication is a must have skill. For a child to understand and assimilate what you’re teaching, you need to communicate properly.
The other five skills are important as well.
For an HR professional like myself, none of the six Project Management skills is negotiable. From communicating with internal stakeholders to understand the business needs/expectations and budget, to engaging/reviewing external stakeholders for the best fit within a stipulated timeframe without compromising standards. It is obvious that each of the project management skills pay a key role in the making of a holistic professional. For me, there is no better time to improve my negotiation skill that now, and to do that, i will strive to always identify and articulate the common ground for the parties involved.
In my role as a Fashion Designer/Enthusiast these six areas come into play, I have managed projects where I have had to display designs on runways, style pageant queens and design for high end customers. Proper communication is needed to ensure every detail about every model or customer is well taken to avoid mistakes and errors. Negotiation power helps to determine how pricing should be done and also how work should be delivered by the team and for the customers. Time management is very essential as deliveries have to be made at specific times and fittings must be done for the iterative process of the work, understanding regulatory agreements, work ethics helps us to avoid unnecessary changes to scope, and we try our best to keep things professional..
All the six skills are essential to my job and PMO in Telecom Industry.
Communication: This is essential for my job and i am doing well in it.
Negotiation: This is very essential to my job but i still have a long way to go in it.
Time Management : This is a key factor in my Job and i am doing well in it.
Understanding the Regulatory Environment: This is one of the major factors we look into and ensure compliance and approval before moving into Project Execution
Ethic and adherence to standard: This i always carryout and must not be compromised. It is essential to my Job.
Continual Professional Development: This a essential to my Job and i need to also improve in it.
In my role as an Admin/Project Officer, communication, time management, and ethics are essential. Clear communication keeps everyone aligned, time management ensures we meet deadlines, and ethical conduct is vital when working with vulnerable groups.
I’m working to improve in negotiation and understanding the regulatory environment, especially around compliance and stakeholder engagement. I also aim to be more consistent with continual professional development to stay updated and grow in my field.
All six areas are essential for my job but the areas that need improvement are; communication which can be achieved by taking courses, practicing active listening and speaking and joining public speaking group; Negotiation which can be achieved by studying successful negotiators and practicing negotiation scenarios; ethics and standards by attending trainings and seeking guidance from mentors in the same field .
As an Electronics and Telecommunication Engineer with a strong focus on cybersecurity and emerging technologies, taking the DEXA Project Management course has been an insightful and empowering experience. The course content is not only practical but also well-aligned with the dynamic demands of the tech industry.
What stood out for me was how the course bridges technical execution with strategic planning—something that’s critical in my field, especially when leading or collaborating on large-scale projects involving telecom infrastructure, network security, or embedded systems. The instructors did a great job explaining project lifecycles, stakeholder communication, risk management, and agile practices in a way that ties directly into real-world tech environments.
This course reinforced my ability to not only build secure and innovative systems but also lead them to successful deployment with clarity, collaboration, and accountability.
