Various definitions of the concept of quality have been put forward.
One generic definition (Pass, 2006b) is as follows:
The overall characteristics of a product or service that fulfill the requirements of customers in terms of quality.
This definition aligns with the viewpoint of Joseph Juran, who, in the 1950s, defined quality as ‘fitness for use’ (as quoted in ASQ, 2019).
This definition is largely consistent with the definition of quality provided by APM (2019, p. 214):
The suitability for the intended purpose and the degree to which the output of a process or the process itself conforms to the requirements.

Quality should prioritize customer needs. Yes that correct but I believe quality should be beyond customers needs. Quality should be focused on long term. Something that customers will see, use, be amazed, be satisfied and even recommend your product or services to others. Quality is what brings customer back, makes them to keep coming back to you and what keeps them(makes them to stay).

This is important because quality is all about meeting customer’s expectations.
2. Quality should be considered from the beginning of the project.
It is important to consider quality from the beginning in order not to start going back and forth.
3. Quality issues should be discussed openly to find corrective actions.
I agree with these statements :
1. Quality should be focused on the customer’s need: Because at the end of the day, if what is delivered doesn’t meet the customer’s expectations, it doesn’t matter how well we think we’ve done. It’s customer’s satisfaction that defines true quality.
2. Quality should be considered from the beginning of the project: It’s much easier to get things right from the start than to go back and fix mistakes later. Planning for quality early saves a lot of time, effort and frustration down the line.
3. Quality issues should be discussed openly to find corrective actions: Hiding problems only makes things worse, but when teams are open about challenges, they can work together to find solutions and improve, which is exactly what quality is all about.
Quality is a multifaceted concept that can be defined in various ways. The definitions provided by Pass (2006), Juran, and APM (2019) all emphasize the importance of meeting customer requirements and fitness for purpose.
Regarding the statements about quality, I agree with the following:
1. *Quality should be focused on the customer’s needs*: This is essential, as quality is ultimately about meeting customer requirements and expectations.
2. *Quality should be considered from the beginning of the project*: This proactive approach ensures that quality is integrated into every stage of the project, reducing the likelihood of costly rework or defects.
3. *Quality issues should be discussed openly to find corrective actions*: Transparency and open communication are vital for identifying and addressing quality issues promptly.
4. *People are keen on producing quality outputs*: When given the right environment, support, and motivation, most people strive to deliver high-quality work.
I disagree with the following statements:
1. *Quality is focused internally*: While internal processes and quality control measures are important, quality ultimately depends on meeting customer needs and expectations.
2. *The execution phase is the most critical to achieve quality targets*: While execution is crucial, quality should be considered throughout the project lifecycle, from planning to delivery.
3. *Quality problems should be hidden from customers and managers*: This approach can lead to mistrust, reputational damage, and decreased customer satisfaction.
4. *Team members do not produce quality outputs without close supervision*: While guidance and support are necessary, micromanaging can stifle creativity and motivation. Empowering team members to take ownership of their work can lead to higher quality outputs.
The execution phase of a project is crucial for achieving quality outputs. This should be committed to the team and there should be proper ministering to ensure that quality is achieved .
