Various definitions of the concept of quality have been put forward.
One generic definition (Pass, 2006b) is as follows:
The overall characteristics of a product or service that fulfill the requirements of customers in terms of quality.
This definition aligns with the viewpoint of Joseph Juran, who, in the 1950s, defined quality as ‘fitness for use’ (as quoted in ASQ, 2019).
This definition is largely consistent with the definition of quality provided by APM (2019, p. 214):
The suitability for the intended purpose and the degree to which the output of a process or the process itself conforms to the requirements.

Agree with the following statements:
* Quality should be focused on the customer’s needs.
* Quality should be considered from the beginning of the project.
* Quality issues should be discussed openly to find corrective actions.
I disagree with the following statements:
* Quality is focused internally. (Quality should be customer-focused, not just internally focused.)
* The execution phase of a project is the most critical to achieving quality targets. (Quality should be considered throughout the project life cycle, not just execution.
I disagree with the remaining others under discussion

QUALITY SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE PROJECT.

The statement “quality should be considered from the beginning of the project” highlights the importance of prioritizing quality throughout the project lifecycle, starting from the initial planning stages. Here’s why it’s essential:
Prevention over correction: Addressing quality concerns early on allows for proactive measures to prevent defects or errors, rather than relying on reactive measures to correct issues later in the project, which can be more time-consuming and costly.
Stakeholder expectations: Considering quality from the outset helps set clear expectations with stakeholders regarding the level of quality they can expect from project deliverables, thus minimizing potential dissatisfaction later on.
Cost-effectiveness: Investing in quality management processes from the beginning can lead to cost savings in the long run by reducing rework, warranty claims, or customer support costs associated with poor-quality products or services.
Risk mitigation: By identifying and addressing quality risks early in the project, teams can mitigate the likelihood of quality-related issues causing delays or disruptions further down the line.
Reputation and brand integrity: Delivering high-quality products or services enhances the organization’s reputation and brand integrity, which can lead to increased customer loyalty and market competitiveness.
In summary, considering quality from the beginning of the project is essential for ensuring project success, meeting stakeholder expectations, and ultimately delivering value to the organization and its customers.
Quality should be focused on the customer’s needs.

The execution phase of a project is the most crucial to achieve quality targets.
Quality issues should be discussed openly to find corrective actions.
People are keen on producing quality outputs.
Quality should prioritize the customer’s needs.
I agree with this statement. Quality should ultimately meet or exceed customer expectations. Understanding and fulfilling customer needs and expectations are fundamental to delivering a high-quality product or service.
Quality should be considered from the project’s inception.
Considering quality from the beginning allows for proactive planning and implementation of processes to ensure quality standards are met throughout the project lifecycle. It helps in preventing issues and ensures that quality is built into the project from the start
The execution phase of a project is crucial for achieving quality goals.
The execution phase is where plans are implemented, and quality standards are implemented. It’s essential to have robust execution processes to ensure the project’s quality goals are achieved.
Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective actions.
I strongly agree with this statement. Open discussion about quality issues promotes transparency and collaboration, leading to the identification of root causes and effective corrective actions. Addressing issues openly helps in preventing recurrence and improving overall quality.

When we talk about quality, it is simply a fundamental dimension of project scope.
1. I agree that quality should prioritise the customer’s needs. In every organisation customer’s satisfaction is key. This relates to the standard of the project or service being offered. When customer’s service is prioritised, organizations enjoy the more.
2. Quality is an internal focus. Quality should be considered from the project’s inception. The execution phase of a project is crucial for achieving quality goals.
3. Quality should be considered from the project’s inception. I agree to this. There is a lot of value in having quality mindset even during inpception of a project. Typically, in Agile, the primary purpose of the inception phase is to do just enough work to get the delivery team going in the right direction and get the stakeholderbuy in.
4. The execution phase of a project is crucial for achieving quality goals. The project execution is to develop and produce the project’s expected deliverables that must be delivered on time and within budget and must meet the agreed upon scope and fulfill customer quality requirements.
5.Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective goals. It is the goal of the corrective action plan to acquire and evaluate data, identify commodity and quality concerns and adopt the necessary and efficient plans.
6. Quality problems should be concealed from customer’s and possibly managers. Ignoring quality problems can lead to servere consequences, from damaged reputations to financial losses.
7. Individuals who are enthusiastic usually feel good and eager to share that good feel to others, as well as being well-oriented.
8.Team members do not produce quality outputs without close supervision.. I disagree with this. Employees is prompt in reporting for work and effectively and efficiently uses his/her time to accomplish his/her job tasks.

I do not agree with the following statements:
Quality problems should be concealed from customers and possibly managers.
Team members do not produce quality outputs without close supervision.
Quality is defined as the totality of features and characteristics of a product or service that bears its ability to satisfy stated or implied needs of the customer.
The four dimensions of quality are product quality, service quality, process quality, and customer experience quality. Product quality is the most important dimension, as it refers to the physical characteristics and performance of the product.
Quality is the fitness for purpose or the degree of conformance of the outputs of a process or the process itself to requirements. Quality control consists of inspection, measurement and testing to verify that the project outputs meet acceptance criteria defined during quality planning.
I agree with the following statements
1. Quality should be considered from the projects inception.
2. The execution phase of the project is crucial for achieving quality goals.
3.Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective actions.
4.Quality should prioritize the customers needs.
5. Quality is an internal focus

2. The execution phase of the project is crucial for achieving quality goals.

4.Quality should prioritize the customers needs.
5. Quality is an internal focus
Quality should prioritize the customer’s needs: Emphasizing customer satisfaction is a fundamental aspect of quality management, ensuring that products or services meet or exceed customer expectations.
Quality is an internal focus: Internally maintaining and improving processes contributes to overall quality, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness within the organization.
Quality should be considered from the project’s inception: Integrating quality considerations from the beginning helps prevent issues and ensures that quality is built into the project’s foundation.
The execution phase of a project is crucial for achieving quality goals: Execution is where plans are put into action, making it a critical phase for achieving the desired quality outcomes.
Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective actions: Transparent communication and a willingness to address problems are crucial for continuous improvement and resolving quality issues promptly.
Quality problems should be concealed from customers and possibly managers: This contradicts the principles of transparency and openness. Concealing problems can lead to long-term issues and a loss of trust. Open communication is generally a better approach.
Individuals are enthusiastic about producing high-quality outcomes: Enthusiasm and commitment from individuals contribute significantly to achieving high-quality results.
Team members do not produce quality outputs without close supervision: While supervision is important, fostering a sense of responsibility and providing the right environment can empower team members to produce quality outputs independently.
