Experts have a clear understanding of the potential advantages that diversity brings to teams and organizations.
APM acknowledges that diverse teams generally outperform homogeneous ones. This correlation is increasingly evident in the performance and financial outcomes of organizations.
Does this align with your personal experience?
In a previous section, you explored exceptional and high-performing teams. Based on your own observations, do you see a connection between diversity and performance? Do teams with greater diversity produce superior work? Additionally, what challenges arise when working in highly diverse teams?
We are genuinely interested in hearing about your experiences and thoughts regarding these questions in the discussion section.

Yes, there is a strong connection between diversity and team performance, but the relationship is not automatic. Diversity can lead to superior performance and innovation when it is well managed. However, the challenges is without effective communication, diversity can introduce complexity and conflict.
Diversity helps in improving performance especially when people from different background are working together on a project, it enables division of labour based on specialization which will eventually lead to a successful end.
I think diversity should go along with performance. A team members who have worked together before tend to achieve their goals within a short period of time because they already understood how each person works.
I think diversity helps the team members to respond quickly in time of challenges during an emergency.
Hmm…it really a tough one cause I’ve been in situations where I wish there wasn’t diversity. It definitely fosters more performance but sometimes the flexibility it not easy to get
When working with people you’ve known, over familiarity can also be annoying but it helps get woke done at rush hour
Striking a balance between people you’re familiar with would definitely help a lot.
People from different backgrounds bring different experiences, networks and thinking styles.
This heps the work faster or spot an issue and sort it out. its important to get different ideas from different people and this gives one a different perspective either on a project or how to handle people differently
I think diversity is proportional to performance.i think every project team needs to be diverse in other to perform well but i also think this is dependent on the project type. Take for instance building a software product and we just have software developers all through or a case where we have people skilled in frontend development, backend development, UI/UX design, cyber security etc. All of them come together to create a great product.
I believe a team with great diversity produces superior products because most questions can be handled by experts in the different fields from which they arise rducing uncertainties.
Working with highly diverse teams creates room for ‘storming’…different perspective most time creates breeding grounds for disagreements/strife
For me, diversity in team is not the best. It may have its advantages in a quick project but not in a long project. This is as a result of “Storming”; misunderstanding amount team members must always occur and if I don’t know you too well, I may take it personal and that may have its impact in the on going project. What I am saying is that; diversity in team should depend on how long the project will last.
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
Yes there’s a strong, positive relationship between diversity and performance.
Diverse teams tends to be more innovative, make better decisions, and achieve better financial outcomes due to wider range of perspective. More diverse teams can do better work. They solve complex problems more creatively and are more likely to identify risks and market opportunities.
Challenges:
Communication barriers, Increased conflict, Unconscious bias, Integration difficulties and Managing complexity
Diverse teams are like a rich tapestry, weaving strengths and perspectives into a stronger fabric. Benefits includ,; enhanced innovation and problem-solving, better decision-making and representation and broader networks and market reach.
Challenges might include: communication hurdles, potential conflicts and eed for empathy and clear nnorms .
Diverse teams often outperform others, driving growth and success
