Put yourself in the role of a project manager collaborating with MTD, an events company.
Considering the difficulties and problems that MTD encounters in their projects, what insights have you gained this week that could offer assistance?
If an iterative approach were employed in organizing an event as a project, what would be the consequences? Similarly, what are the implications of adopting an agile approach? If the company sought your advice, what would you recommend?

Thinking of the challenging issues MTD faced in their project. Taking a Interative approach enhances reponsivines and identifying issues in the event project because of it flexibility and continuous feedback from stakeholders. As a project manager a linear approach would have been taking but as the issues arises that the blueprint for a linear approach can not accommodate. The interative approach is employed due it’s flexibility and the ability to work on projects in sprints and focus on handling task associated with the issue for event project.
Working with MTD, the events company, I’ve learned that flexibility, stakeholder management, and risk management are crucial for successful event planning. An iterative or agile approach can help MTD adapt to changing requirements and improve event quality.
I would advise MTD to adopt a hybrid approach, combining elements of iterative and agile methodologies. This would involve breaking down the project into smaller chunks, prioritising stakeholder management, and developing a risk management plan.
By embracing flexibility and adaptability, MTD can better respond to last-minute changes and unexpected issues. Regular review and refinement of processes will also help them identify areas for improvement and optimise their event planning.
Ultimately, this approach will enable MTD to deliver high-quality events, enhance client satisfaction, and stay competitive in the industry.
Given that MTD operates as an events company — and each event often demands a unique or slightly modified approach due to inherent ambiguity — leveraging the VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) framework alongside an iterative methodology can be highly effective. By systematically gathering customer feedback from past events, MTD can refine and deploy targeted social media advertising campaigns aimed at driving increased sales and engagement.
Adopting an interactive approach may have the following consequences: breaking down the event planning process into manageable units, making gradual progress and adapting to change, and changing might affect the timeline and budget.
Further more, the implications of adopting agile will be for flexibility and adaptability, collaboration and communication, and because of risk management.
So, as a project manager who has to consider the nature of the event planning, I will recommend both iterative and agile approachs.
Agile and iterative approach help manage complexity and uncertainty, which are very common in event planning and allow flexibility, quick adjustments, and continuous feedback which is key for MTD’s success.
An iterative approach involves planning events in phases, testing ideas before execution, and adjusting based on feedback. This reduces risks and ensures the event meets expectations.
That is the training which I have seen before,it contains a large amount of ma
As a project manager working with MTD, I will get information by communicating with the MTD in charge to know the challenges. After knowing the challenges, then use the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) framework tools to determine the challenges and use agile and linear approaches to solve the problem.
The role of management in agile is the implication.
I will recommend the scrum framework to them.
As a project manager working with MTD, after identifying the problem, the best combinations to solve any problem is using the agile and iterative methods, using agile practices for dynamic methods and for fundamental elements through iterative planning. This bring balance in unseen situations ensuring a successful project.
As a PM working with MTD, I would first identify the problem, then use the VUCA framework tools in determine the best response to the challenges of the project and apply the iterative and agile approaches to tackle problems faced during the implementation.
As a Project Manager I’d recommend the events company to combine the methods as anything can happen so that they have a plan B approach which in this case would be the agile approach
