Hello, this module focuses on how to manage projects in a complicated world. The world is changing rapidly and in unpredictable ways. Just consider the changes caused by new technology, worldwide trade and competition, social and political disturbances, and the environmental emergency.

You might think that project management has little to do with these major global matters. However, all kinds of organizations, whether large or small, are impacted by the world they operate in. How a company understands and responds to this complexity influences the projects it chooses to undertake and how it handles them.

This week, we begin by examining frameworks that help us grasp this intricate world. These frameworks guide our actions, responses, and decision-making in the face of complexity.

Next, we delve deeply into various methods and practices for managing projects when faced with uncertainty, instability, and change. These methods include linear approaches and life cycles, often known as the waterfall method, as well as iterative or agile approaches. You will explore the pros and cons of these methods, as well as the ongoing debates about them.

By the end, you’ll grasp how to use and blend these methods effectively to achieve successful project outcomes.

To start off this week, we’re interested in hearing about your experiences. Considering those major global issues like technology, competition, social and political changes, and environmental problems, think about how they impact your organization and the projects you’re involved in.

Feel free to share your experiences with fellow learners in the discussion.

  6. A project Manager must derive ways in handling complexities and challenges that may occur during projects. A project manger must be vast in the following factors;

1.Technology: Technology around the world has tilted many ways things are done and project management are not left out. The introduction of Ai has also affected human participation as this technology is also changing the faces of projects. Some ongoing projects are changed to include the involvement of non human actors.

    2. Environmental factors: Changes in weather, climate change and other environmental hazards affects projects as some projects may be abandoned due to harsh weather and other.

    3. Social factors: Social factors such as the activities of non governmental organizations can abruptly change existing or anticipated projects. The project manager should anticipate crisis of interest between government and non state actors.

  9. The innovations of the artificial intelligence has really come to play in project management work.

  10. Projects are live activities. This means that project managers and project participants are not going to sleep. They must continue to scan the project environment for changes. They must respond to changes and communicate these changes to stakeholders. These project behaviours assure success.

  11. Technology has revolutionized project management approach. The implementation of AI-powered tools to enhance data analysis and automate tasks, resulting in increased efficiency and accuracy. However, there is also the need to address new challenges in data privacy and security.

Socio-political changes have also influenced project goals and stakeholder engagement strategies. There is need to adapt to new regulations and public expectations, requiring more agility and responsiveness in project management approach.

  12. For most projects of course. Due to the political change in Nigeria that has affected the economy. There is rise in the prices of most items used for the projects.

  13. The project we are currently on started last year and the bill of quantity was approved by the client and team members.
Due to social and political disturbances, the BOQ is not feasible as prices of materials have skyrocketed. This has proven a problem not only to the team but to the client who has refused to meet up with current rates.

  14. HOW CAN FACTORS SUCH AS ENVIRONMENT, TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIO-POLITICAL CHANGE AFFECT AN ORGANIZATION AND ITS PROJECT:

    1) THE ENVIRONMENT: The environment can pose constraints to an organisation’s goals and objectives through various factors ranging from economic conditions, social trends, industry trends and competition which consists of multiple organizations that collectively compete with one another by providing similar goods, services, or both. Some organizations can wield such magnitude of power as to influence major decisions that shape the general environment. A basic understanding of an organization’s environment invariably impacts the kind of projects it’ll undertake as well as the decision making process around the project. The environment could also be a source of opportunities and threats for an organization as these factors can greatly impact its performance level.

    2) TECHNOLOGY: The emergence of ever evolving technological trends play a crucial role in influencing organizational change processes by reshaping structures, cultures, and behaviors within organizations. This can largely impact an organization’s mode of operation. For instance, industries that border on administrative type functions can leverage technology to making work more efficient, accurate, and faster, thereby leading to the maximization of an organization’s overall performance in terms of productivity and competitiveness.

    3) SOCIO-POLITICAL FACTORS: These factors can present themselves in situations ranging from language barrier, currency exchange and inflation rate, managing global teams, foreign politics and relations and the nuances that surround them, policy changes, trade regulations, cultural differences and so on.
The decisions made concerning these factors can have a direct impact on the operations of an organization and subsequently its projects. For instance, when there is a shift in trade policies, it can disrupt global supply chains and affect international businesses which can adversely affect the outcome of a project if risk management isn’t introduced ab initio.

  15. The world as a global village its an understanding a Project Manager must have as a cornerstone idea in all his or her actions

In line with the above comes the impact of changing technology, trade and competition on a global scale, global political and social alliances and the renew efforts to curb the actions or impacts of environmental emergency resulting from global climatic changes plays important role in Project Management.

In my organization based in an African country, all the above have had their impact on our business. The impact of new technology for business such as adopting ERP system, looking for alternative sources energy such as solar has improve our business. However, we have had to compete in sourcing for our raw material’s (corrugated reels from oversea paper mills) which in turns means we are competing with other companies overseas or also in complying with international business standards like having SEDEX Certification, ISO 9001: 2015 Certification etc which are requisite for doing business with affiliates of international brands like Coca Cola, Henkel etc.

Above all, political and social reforms has necessitated unanticipated government policies changes (tax, wages reforms etc) some which led to increase in plan project cost and this often requires a review in the scope of existing projects or his budgets, Also environmental effects and need to be more environmental friendly also are few of the critical decisions to consider as a Project Manager

  16. Discussion complexity
    New Technology
Technological complexity by differentiation refers to the variety and diversity of some aspects of a task such as number and diversity of inputs/outputs, number and diversity of tasks to undertake, and number of specialities and contractors, involved in the project

    Globalisation of trade and competition
The economy’s entry into its globalisation phase has radically altered the nature of competition. This new competition has accentuated the interdependence of the different levels of globalisation trade in goods and services, direct investment, technology transfers, capital movements), with direct investment becoming a central factor in the process of industrial restructuring and the development of genuine world industries.
To contend with the challenges of globalization, firms have altered their strategies, strengthening the activities in which they were in a dominant position (refocusing), seeking to achieve critical size and attaching priority to external growth (mergers and acquisitions). At the same time, they have multiplied the number of co-operation agreements and alliances and changed their internal organisation. Globalisation has obliged all countries to raise their standards of economic efficiency, whence the growing interest in and concern about competitiveness. Analysis of globalisation has also revealed the change in the context in which most traditional indicators of competitiveness are interpreted, and demonstrated the urgent need to develop a new generation of indicators based on new information, so as to be able to throw new light on the more traditional indicators
One of the main difficulties in defining and measuring competitive is that the two main reference levels — the firm and the nation — have differing objectives. While for a nation the aim is to maintain and improve its citizens’ living standards, for a firm the object is to deal successfully with international competition by making profits and increasing its market shares

    Social and Political Change:
Social and political changes have far-reaching implications for organizations and projects. For instance, shifts in social attitudes may require organizations to adapt their marketing approaches or develop new products to cater to changing consumer demands. Additionally, changes in government policies and regulations can impact project workflows, funding opportunities, or even project viability

    Environmental crisis
Environmental crisis it in project management are refers to the assessment and consideration of the negative effects that a project may have on the environment. It involves identifying and evaluating the potential impacts of a project on ecosystems, resources, and socio-economic factors.

    Reflection and Discussion
In reflecting on how these global issues affect your organization, consider the following questions:

How does your organization integrate new technologies into its projects, and what challenges does it face in doing so?
In what ways does competition influence your project priorities and resource allocation?
How are social and political changes shaping your organizational policies and project management practices?
What sustainability goals does your organization have, and how do these influence project planning and execution?
By understanding and addressing these factors, organizations can better navigate the complexities of the modern business environment and enhance their project management practices to achieve long-term success.

  22. Every project, every team, every organisation, has been impacted by the dynamic nature of the world we live in.
For instance, because of technology, before an organisation is considered for a job, their competition is just a click away.
On the other hand, technology has increased the rate of global competition, and given organizations the opportunity to upskill and position better in the global market.
Environmental concerns have made organizations put on their thinking caps and find better ways to produce sustainable work.
Social and political changes have brought about bodies of law that have impacted organizations.
These impacts don’t have to be negative to be noted. Finally, there’s nothing wrong with change, every organisation that will thrive must not be averse to change, but must be ready to pivot accordingly.

  23. I’d like to give the example of a farm that produces chickens to supply markets.
Today, almost all the players in the chain are closing their farms because the cost of inputs has doubled.
The reasons given are the drought, the many armed conflicts and the taxes and regulations imposed by the various countries.
These are all factors that need to be taken into account in order to adapt and evolve.
The new technologies used to produce chicks and pack the animals would be a solution, but they are excessively expensive.
The manager of a small and medium-sized business has to take all these factors into account to achieve his objectives.

  24. In my experience, the major global issues like technology, competition, social and political changes, and environmental problems have a significant impact on my organization and the projects I’m involved in. For instance:

Technological advancements have led to increased automation and digital transformation, requiring us to adapt and upskill to remain competitive.

By acknowledging and adapting to these global issues, we can ensure our organization and projects remain resilient, relevant, and responsible.

  25. Global issues have both positive and negative effects on organizations and projects. The advancement in technology can enhance operations as well as improve productivity when an organization decides to embrace technological advancement, technology advancement is usually highly capital intensive and can make it difficult for an organization to level up based on technological standard. In cases where for some reason an organization is not operating with the latest available technologies, it makes them to be at the loosing end with other technically more advanced organization, as more clients will prefer to work with seemingly more advanced organizations.
Government policies can also greatly affect the way an organization are able to operate, some policies may be highly demanding and be very difficult to be met by some organization and this could lead to a company becoming defunct.

  26. Big global issues like technology, competition, social and political change, and the environmental crisis can significantly affect my organization and my projects in various ways:

    1. Operations: Supply chain will be disrupted, resources are most times scarce in getting, and regulatory changes comes in play.
    2. Marketing and Sales: this usually change consumer behaviors, their preferences, and expectations.
    3. Innovation and R&D: there is the need for continuous innovation, adaptation to new trends, and investment in new technologies.
    4. Human Resources:This is the attraction and retaining of good talents, diversity and inclusion, and employee engagement.

  33. As an Executive Assistant, I run the core administrative functions of my organization and technology has made it pretty easier to multitask and deliver excellence.
However, I see my firm struggling o a couple of things due to economic factor in the country.

  34. As a coach, globalization, technology, and the internet positively impact my job as they give me more visibility and afford me a wider range of customer base.

while as a writer, the AI writing tools innovation has placed my job at risk of being taken over. I have been able to adapt to this change by harnessing my advantage of being a human into my write-ups, which is inputting emotions into my writing which AI cannot do in real-time except otherwise programmed.

These changes are good and needed for development, but a PM should be able to understand how to respond to these complexities and changes as it affects the project at hand per time

    Mary Ayo

  35. As a social media strategist, advancement in technology makes my job easier and at the same time difficult. It makes my way easier because it provides me with more tools and applications which helps me get more work done within the shortest possible time. It makes my work difficult and demanding, which to offer my clients optimal service, I need to be up to date with the latest trend.
Political changes play a great role, because everything revolves around government policies.

    1. Competition motivates organizations to foster innovation through the adoption of modern technology. Technology helps make job faster and easier. Social changes guides the way an organization operates

Considering these major global issues like technology which has brought positive impact on project making communications and work be done effectively and timely.

competition, social and political changes, and environmental problems has a negative impact on projects. More competitors are rising every day, the political and environmental problems in our country has brought about high cost of tools and some political laws which are detrimental to the project.

  37. In the normal business environment, these are factors that will constantly affect the internal and external framework and operation of business. As I’ve learned over time, that the business environment is dynamic. As a project manager, I must constantly update and acquire skills relevant for navigating through this factors that can affect the project

  38. Global challenges like social, environmental, and political shifts have adversely affected businesses and organizations, particularly in Nigeria, where they strive to stay relevant amid numerous hurdles. Nonetheless, technological advancements have significantly contributed to growth and job creation.

Budgetary Pressures: Economic volatility can impact project budgets, leading to constraints and cost overruns. Organizations will need to adjust financial plans and allocate resources more judiciously to ensure projects remain viable and sustainable.

In summary, organizations must cultivate a culture of resilience, agility, and adaptability in executing projects in an unpredictable environment and embracing innovation to capitalize on emerging opportunities despite the volatility and uncertainty in the operating environment.

  42. The VUCA framework—Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity—provides a useful lens for understanding and responding to the challenges posed by dynamic and unpredictable environments. Responding to the challenges as a project manager requires analytical/critical and problem solving skills. There is a need to leverage the VUCA framework effectively to be able to succeed and deliver outputs/outcomes with benefit:

Volatility: Need for recognition that change is constant and unpredictable. Need to embrace agility and flexibility in the approach to planning and execution. Focusing on building resilience and the ability to respond quickly to unexpected developments rather than trying to predict specific outcomes. This may involve scenario and change management planning where you not only anticipate various potential scenarios but prepare contingency plans and change management processes accordingly.
Uncertainty: With uncertainty inevitable, there will be a need to cultivate adaptability and a willingness to experiment and learn from feedback. Adopting a culture of innovation and creativity equips teams feel to explore new ideas and approaches to confront new and evolving challenges.
Complexity: This highlights the fact that challenges that presents itself are interconnected and multifaceted. Calls for holistic view of the situation, capturing the wider context of the situation in all its diversity and the interdependencies between different variables. This will require breaking down complex problems into smaller and more manageable units. By so doing, cross-functional teams can collaborate to leverage diverse perspectives and expertise to proffer solutions.
Ambiguity: Ambiguity is a common theme inherent in uncertain environments, implying that not all questions will have clear answers. The courage to embrace ambiguity as an opportunity for exploration and discovery is critical where it is encountered. Creating an atmosphere of open communications in projects and fostering a learning mindset are useful opportunities for learning, growth and improvement.
In summary, using the VUCA framework serves as a tool for understanding and responding to challenges in a rapidly changing global business context. By embracing VUCA, a project manager can develop resilience, agility, and adaptability in an organization rather than being overwhelmed by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity sometimes encountered in dynamic and unpredictable environments.

    1. Global issues have positive and negative impact on businesses and organization. However, they must thrive to beat that effect by advancing in technology by creating new strategies that will further increase growth and productivity.

  43. Global issues such as social, environmental and political changes have had negative impacts on businesses and organizations especially here in Nigeria as businesses push so hard to remain relevant despite the various challenges faced. However, advancement in technology has been of great benefit because it has helped to increase growth and employment

In such that the number of project carried out in a year has reduced, the amount of commodities in the market are quite expensive which brought about reduction. The area of technology has been of great impact, creating employment, and growth in the areas of tech.

  46. The social and political changes in my country has impacted the number o projects that my organisation is able to conduct in a year and has also drastically reduced the scope of the projects been undertaken as a result of insufficient supply of resources and ack of adequate manpower to carry out some technical aspects of the projects
    Blessing Siya Ukpabi-Willi

  47. In my organisation, we aren’t left out in the challenges that other organizations face. For instance,

Technology: has affected the way slot of things are been done. Though, in my opinion technology has been of tremendous benefit us. Fast and easy dissemination of crucial information has been enabled even at short notices. Technology has helped to bring the workers together and has also provided tools that makes work easy and efficient. Although, there are still concerns about the negative aspects of technology.

Environmental problems such as global warming also affected my organisation because children outdoors has been threatened by the extreme weather during the day time in most of the outdoor activities take place.

  48. In the hospital where I work,

    1. Technology – this has really helped us in discharging our duties well and fast. Example is the laboratory department of the hospital. The machines used are a result of technology which in turn makes our patients happy because they wouldn’t need to come back for results expect on rare occasions where it depends on the kind of investigation they run. Also, social media has made advertisement very easy for us as people who hasn’t heard about us will get to see us online and want to patronize us .
Emails also makes communication very easy to disseminate.

    2. Competition – this has enabled us up our games and made us discovered our competitive advantage over our competitors.

    3. Government policies – the economic challenge we face in our country is a general challenge which we also face in our organization. This affects prices of goods and services and in turn affects the price of our services to our customers. How we were able to pull through is by being fair enough with our prices despite the economic changes.

  49. These global issues can have significant impacts on organizations and projects across various sectors. Below are a few of them:
1.Technology: Rapid advancements in technology can both empower and challenge organizations. Embracing new technologies can enhance efficiency, improve products or services, and open new markets. For example, in my IT Support professional, remote connectivity has enhanced the way we support our clients. This has enhanced our time management and reduction in cost of transportation from a location to another, in project delivery. Also, we have embraced Automation in carrying out our activities such as AMI (Automated Metering Infrastructure) that allow my organization to manage meters remotely and eventually increases our revenue collection. However, staying abreast of technological changes requires organizations to navigate issues such as data privacy, cybersecurity, and the ethical implications of emerging technologies.
    2. Competition: Globalization has intensified competition across industries. In my organizations we are continuously innovating to stay ahead of competitors, whether through product differentiation, cost leadership, or other strategies. For example, some of our Maximum demand customers in power industry are given reduced rate to keep them in business with us. Understanding market dynamics, consumer preferences, and emerging trends is crucial for maintaining a competitive edge.
3.Social and Political Change: Societal and political shifts can have profound implications for organizations. Changes in demographics, values, and attitudes can impact consumer behavior and demand. Moreover, shifts in government policies, regulations, and geopolitical dynamics can affect market conditions, supply chains, and business operations. As Organizations we are staying attuned to these changes and adapt their strategies accordingly.
4.Environmental Crisis: Climate change, resource depletion, and environmental degradation pose significant challenges for organizations , our inclusive. Increasing pressure to adopt sustainable practices and reduce carbon emissions necessitates changes in power generation processes, distribution chain management, and product design. Failing to address environmental concerns not only risks reputational damage but also regulatory penalties and distribution chain disruptions.

  50. In the educational sector where I work, technology has been of great help. It has helped to make teaching easier for the teachers by introduction of various learning materials and online teaching sites. Also, it makes it fun for the students by inclusion of various curricular and extracurricular activities . This has cause a kind of competition especially for onsite schools where they have to adapt to technological changes so as not to be left behind.
Environment crisis as well as social and political changes can affect educational sector negatively. These include strikes, naira scarcity, unfavourable governmental policies, e. t. c. In spite of all these issues, the educational sector is gradually adjusting to the challenges and trying to do the needful under these circumstances.

  51. Working within the telecommunications industry, we constantly feel the influence of our competitors’ actions, both in terms of the quality of service they offer and the pricing of our own products and services.

Furthermore, technological advancements play a crucial role in shaping the quality of our services. A robust technological infrastructure not only enhances our network strength but also expands our customer base significantly.

As an organization, our operations are governed by the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC). This regulatory body oversees pricing structures for all telecom products, sets guidelines for handling unregistered lines, imposes sanctions for non-compliance, and ensures adherence to industry standards.

Finally, we are guided by the National Environmental Standards Regulation and Enforcement Agency (NESREA) to ensure that our operations have a positive impact on the environment.

  52. In my home, technology has become the vehicle that drive virtually everything. Ranging from communication to meals preparation and even to normal day to day running of the home. While there are lots of goodness that technology brings to the home, it can cause harzards and distort the traditional ways of doing things. it sometimes causes laxity and unintentionality in doing what should be done and in keeping to time too.

  53. In a teaching and learning environment where I work that’s a school.
Technology has taken over most of the jobs of the secretaries. The lesson plan are posted online and the examination results are posted on line. Most Schools now operate the E- learning methods due to environmental crisis, during the COVID-19 era and after the era most schools adopted teaching online.
Online teaching brought competition amongst different schools who want to make it easier for their students. This also helps in protecting the students from contracting the virus and for security reasons.
The world is getting more complex by the day and the school environment is adjusting to the complexity.

  54. Working as a technical trainer I experience a lot of complexity do to political and social changes but enrolling for these PM training, what I have learnt so far is making to understand the ethics and the dynamics of change and how to overcome them. Take for instants, having a project at hand there are so many things that can lead to the closure or stopping of the project.
    A) like the issue of environmental
Pollutions and these environmental pollution could be, the discharge from the project is coursing more damage to the environment.
    B) So as PM we must thick about being environment friendly with our project hence we must put in place good waste management system in all our yard and site as this if not done can lead to a show stopper.
    C) The political arena could also lead to a project stoppage as government policies might lead to high cost, inflation might also set in leading to failure to purchase equipments. However were the PM is proactive, he will be ahead of all this issues as the team would captured most of this in the initial planning of the project.

  55. All changes affects any projects execution as this can serve as a blocker, increase cost of executing project or stop a project abruptly.
Take for ihstance in Nigeria, project execution was affected in Lekki, Lagos state when then end Sars protest was on. Other facts such as fuel increment, weather abnormalities can adversely project execution.

  56. As a lawyer technological advancement has greatly affected me because I came to find that we my 8 years of experience and knowledge of the Law is not enough to help me thrive in my profession as a result of the current technological advancement. With that in mind, I have been pushed to also equip myself with relevant technological knowledge necessary to help me thrive. This is one of the reasons I enrolled for the project management course.

Also, working in a real estate company, my organization is largely affected by social and political changes as well as competition. There re so many real estate companies popping up on a daily basis and this has created so much competition in the industry as a result, there’s a need to constantly improve yourself to stay relevant.

  57. In the field in which I work, competition is a significant obstacle to obtaining funding and resources.

I consult with electronic devices and can hold virtual meetings with clients and other stakeholders. Health information can be passed across on social media platforms and clients can engage with me on such fora..
So technology has indeed positively impacted my world.

  80. Global issues have a significant impact on my organizations and projects.
To stay competitive, my organisation needs to consider embracing technology advancements like blockchain, artificial intelligence, and data analytics, analyze competitors, adapt strategies accordingly, monitor social and political shifts, integrate ESG criteria into investment decisions, countinnue to explore international markets, diversify portfolios, have risk management strategies in place, and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Regular assessment, agility, and strategic planning are essential for my organisational success.

  81. For my organization, new technology can shake up how things are done. Using tools like data analytics and AI can make work smoother and more innovative. In my projects, technology helps teams work better together and make smarter choices based on data. It saves time and money while improving the final results.

With more players on the global stage, my organization needs to stand out. Being creative, delivering quality work, and keeping customers happy are key. In projects, I’ll need to be fast, efficient, and offer top-notch results to stay ahead in my industry.

Changes in society and politics can impact how my organization operates. Keeping an eye on what people want, cultural shifts, and new rules is crucial. Projects may need adjustments to meet regulations, satisfy diverse stakeholders, and navigate potential risks in different regions.

Being eco-friendly is not just a trend—it’s a must. My organization must find ways to reduce waste, use cleaner energy, and protect the environment. Projects need to follow green guidelines, use sustainable resources, and consider environmental impacts from start to finish.

By tackling these challenges head-on, my organization can build a stronger reputation, keep clients satisfied, and contribute positively to the world around us. It’s important to stay informed, being adaptable, and making responsible choices every step of the way.

  82. Technology, competition, political changes and many global issues are affecting organization and project at large. All this poses a threat to a Project Manager and a project manager must learn how the world is constantly changing in other to fit in perfectly.

One major global issues in my organization is political changes. I serve in a government parastatal and no doubt majority of the involvement are political. However, political changes has poses several threat in such a way that alot of projects are been abandoned after spending so much. For instance, a project was on going when Mr A was the head of the organization and they have a clear plan of how the project will run and they were working on it but Mr B was posted to the organization when Mr A was posted to another organization. Mr B doesn’t see a need to further the project or he is not seeing the usefulness of the project, in other words the project could not continue. This was a whole lot of discouragement for members.
However it is imminent that there will always be political changes but as a Project Manager, it is also essential to prepare oneself for the hard days ahead.
Looking forward to learn better in this module

  83. Big global issues, such as technology, competition, social and political change, and the environmental crisis, ask yourself how do these affect my organisation and my projects?

As an engineer, my observation has been lack of contracts and demand, ongoing contracts are been suspended and staff loosing thier jobs that is as a resolve of the pandemic. My organisation or industry is yet to pick up as it were. The available contracts are been dragged by so many companies leading to politicizing the process. Those who has people though with out the capabilities ends up getting the contracts. This has lead to so many fetal accidents and down time.

  85. Technology, Global issue, Instability, environmental, Political and social changes and so on are factors organizations don’t play with because they have the power to turn project/organization in the right direction or not.

One of my experience was when I started working with Insurance company over a decade ago, Third Party INSURANCE, then we practically beg people to buy it but all of a sudden government came and made it a must for all vehicle owners and police were impounding people’s car for not having this increase the sales of Third party in Insurance in the industry drastically and it really helped the industry.

  86. Technology, Competition, Social & Political changes and Environmental problems have affected so many projects and organization in many ways which I shall list few below;
    1. AI have been introduced to assist the society but most people use it for selfish gain whereby reducing the amount of workers needed for a project just to be able to squander money and other resources.
    2. Reduction in efficiency of projects due to environmental problems
    3. Change in power of government terminates or reduces the ability to accomplish an existing project.
    4. High rate of competition in the society leads to reduction in quality of project due to quick time of execution of projects to be accomplished.
These few points shows that; Technology, Competition, Social & Political changes and Environmental problems have one or two defects on projects and an organization as a whole…

  87. Technology. Social & Political changes as well as Environmental problems affect the entirety of the company structure as well as the overall service delivery.
With the advent of AI, for instance, the world is tilting towards a more enhanced technological approach with less reliance on human methodologies or input.
With social and political changes, new policies can cause economic upheavals which may overturn businesses with restrictions or unforeseen complications that can limit or enhance a company’s performance within particular regions.
Environmental problems like Covid for instance caused a global reset and a new approach to work culture and service delivery, limiting a few businesses, and creating new opportunities for new product/service entrants, which may only have been possible for a long while.

  88. Thinking about Complexity

Currently thinking about global issues such as technology – we are entering into the AI space which I forsee will bring alot of disruptions in the technology space. This will affect my organization because it is a tech company and am sure the organization will look into ways of implementing AI for the benefits that come with it.

  89. Of course, global issues affect the organization’s projects.

Both in the aspects of the economy and technology.
Having to deal with the high-rises in products and materials.

Environmental and socio-political issues are crumbling a lot of organization’s projects.

  90. Considering these major global issues like technology which has brought positive impact on project making communications and work be don’t effectively and timely.

competition, social and political changes, and environmental problems has a negative impact on projects. More competitors are rising every day, the political and environmental problems in our country has brought about high cost of tools and some political laws which are detrimental to the project.

  91. The global issues affect our organisation greatly. It can either affect it positively, in the sense that it brings improvement or growth in terms of improvement in the technology, meeting up with the current needs of the society, creating strategies that will help the organisation be above their competitors and also bring about adaptability. But in a case where the organisation lacks in the aspects, global issues tends to affect them negatively.

From my own view, the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguous (VUCA) framework are the tools that helps to build an awareness of the organization’s situation and hellps develop suitable responses to the challenges that are faced in external or macro environment.
This concept was created and used by the US military in the 1980s in the context of volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous.

Volatility: this shows how unstable chang could be, an unexpected and frequent variation above the reference level.

Uncertainty: this shows lack of knowledge of the decision, ramifications and how they are unfold.

Complexity: this also shows the challenge of making sense in a situation that involves interconnected parts, processes and players. This could also be a result as a change in commodity. In a complex world, not all situation encountered in project work are complex.

Ambiguous: this may result as a lack of understanding of ’cause and effect’ which happens where there is no prediction.

All organizations and their projects are affected by any of the four VUCA challenges which can directly or indirectly affects project success.
Researches were carried out by the Association of Project Managers in the UK where conditions were identified for a successful project work.
    *securing fund
    *capable sponsors
    *aligned supply chain
    *supportive organizations

As a prospective project manager, I consider that global topics such as technology advancements, competition, social & political changes, and environmental crises has the potential to greatly affect organizations and projects. The preferences of consumers can be impacted by social shifts, and environmental crises can threaten operations. Adaptation may be necessary to stay competitive during technological shifts, and political changes can have an impact on regulatory movements. Organizations must manage these dynamics to thrive and ensure that projects are aligned with the changing global landscape.

  154. Change is certainly a constant thing in life and we all must adapt to them or change with them for free flow of business and organization, for instance, I used to use excel sheets to track and give instructions until I was introduced to teamgant although I am not that very good at it yet but it’s making it easier for me to track my teams efforts. As a PM I believe we must be ready to learn everyday and change to new technology for easier project follow up.

  155. As we grow the world changes, gone at those days when the architect uses sketching as a tool, now it’s been done on the computer system using design and making life easy. As a project manager we need to try develop our skills not only in communication, team management and more but also in the tech world. For example using teamgantt will go a long way and make life faster and easier as a project manager, lact of adapting to the tech world makes the time frame for the project extended.

  156. In our rapidly evolving world, technology continues to reshape our landscape and undeniably contributes to project success in the tech space where I work. To remain relevant and competitive in this space, one has to be adaptive and ready to stand out through mind-blowing innovations. With the impact of social and political changes to the market dynamics, regulatory framework and consumer behaviour, one has to adapt new strategies to executing projects . Also it becomes vital to put into consideration sustainable product designs and operations given the environmental crisis, By so doing, I believe one is able to mitigate risks, seize opportunities, and make meaningful contributions.

  157. Change is inevitable in life and in organization as well. As the world is evolving, the invent of technology has impacted lives and organizations both positively and negatively depending on how you use these technologies.
Technology has impacted me as an individual positively, as I’m being exposed to online learning, attending online conferences and seminars in different field and lot more. For my organization, technology has impacted the teaching and learning process, these learning content are online for learners to access them, study the learning content and give feedback which will be evaluated by the teacher/facilitator.
As the world is transforming into the digital world, we should embrace these digital skills to be efficient and effective in our organization.

  158. Change is inevitable and as such, the business world would always have to devise a means to adapt to changes, bearing in mind that it could have a positive or negative effect. Technological advancement for example as seen project managers work via Teams and google meet and not necessarily face to face as it used to be at a time.
Competition can imply that project managers and organisations have to devise means to improve on quality of service and product delivery to gain an advantage and remain relevant.
Social and political factors can have an influence by determining how projects responds to new trends, regulations and governmental legislations that affect them.

  159. Technology has made work easy and seamless but some of our older colleagues in my place of work find it difficult to work with digital project management tools which slow the speed of implementation. However, embracing new technologies can boost efficiency, but non adapting can lead to lag behind especially in a very competitive market. Which

  160. In our world today where there’s rapid changes in technology and other things, as a project manager it can either affect you negatively or positively while trying to achieve a project.
For example, innovations in technology like TeamGantt, has helped Project managers to effectively plan their project thereby using the hybrid method to achieve his plans in a better way rather than using the agile method.
Negatively innovative technologies also affects the project of a project manager as his plan work can be exposed to cyber theft.

  161. New technologies can create opportunities for innovation in an organization’s products or services. For example, advancements in artificial intelligence could revolutionize the way an organization operates or the type of products it offers.
However, as technology advances, so do cyber threats. Your organization might need to implement stricter security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure project continuity.

  162. Technological advancements like BIM and drones, coupled with fierce competition, drive organizations to innovate and streamline operations. Social and political shifts, from demographic changes to regulatory reforms, influence project requirements and timelines.

By embracing innovation, ensuring compliance, and prioritizing sustainability, construction organizations can navigate complexities and thrive in an evolving global landscape, delivering projects that meet the needs of today while safeguarding the future.

  163. Technology has made work seamless but some of the old staff in my organization find it difficult to work with digital project management tools which slow the speed of implementation.

  164. Change is the only constant thing in life. With new innovations and inventions on technology, every organization is expected to align and adapt to the current trends in technological advancement and see how to harness it positively to get a desired outcomes.

However, embracing new technologies can boost efficiency, but not adapting can lead to falling behind especially in a very competitive market.

  165. Well as a project staff in an organization I say technology has done us real good in making the work easier. In different aspect either in communication, advocacy and stakeholders engagement it has foster user friendly and help in boosting relationship.

    1. The impact of global issues on my organization and projects.well I would say Advancements in technology can enhance or disrupt your projects. Embracing new tech can boost efficiency, but not adapting can lead to falling behind.
Plus, global competition can spur innovation but also pose challenges to market share. Understanding competitors’ strategies is key to staying ahead.
I understand that the changes in society and politics can influence consumer preferences and regulations. Flexibility and awareness are crucial for adaptation.Reflecting on these factors helps anticipate challenges and opportunities, guiding strategic decisions and project planning. Sharing experiences with others fosters collaborative problem-solving.

  166. Change is always a constant thing. With the advent and changes in technological advancement, every organization should be able to align and adapt to the current trends in technology and see how they can harness it positively to get their desired results.

  167. Change is the only constant phenomenon that happens in our today world. With Advent of Media, Ai, Google and the likes making information readily available at the palms of people has mandated the organisation to be up and doing to keep up with ethical standards. A clear example can be seen in the health industries where people are increasingly knowledgeable about their health conditions, sign and symptoms treatment course and others makes it compulsory that the health care provider have to be up to date in ensuring appropriate management course instiuted.

Secondly with knowledge of bills of right and litigation, the client definitely will be more expectant toward his or her services put more on the provider trying to keep a clear course.
However these change isn’t just bad but also have positive sides like in the aspect telemedicine, medical robots, e-records etc it reduces burnouts, high number of clients for the health provider to see daily and reduces the risk of spreading communicable disease like was seen in the COVID 19 periods.

  168. Change is something that is constant, so every organization should expect change. If there is change or any advancement in technology and global economy, organizations should not be rigid not to adapt to this changes to meet demand and standards.

  169. Rapid advancements in technology has influenced the capabilities and direction of organization’s research and development efforts. Staying at the forefront of technological innovation is crucial for maintaining competitiveness and relevance in the field. Societal attitudes and political change or landscape shape the regulatory environment in which we operate. Environmental crisis as well as climate change has a way of influencing our decision making processes related to resource allocation, energy consumption, and operational practices within the organization.
Considering these factors, the organization must continually assess and adapt its strategies, projects, and operations to navigate the evolving landscape of technology, competition, social and political dynamics, and environmental challenges.
This may involve prioritizing research areas with high societal impact, and fostering collaborations to address complex global issues.

  170. This world effect actually affect managing projects. In the case where there is change of government in a country politically this could affect the cost of a project leading to either shooting out of budget or below. For example if the country economy is affected it has effect on the project.
Secondly, climate change could affect the time frame of a particular project which is natural and uncontrollable.
Thirdly, competitors can actually make either the sponsors of projects to demand speed regardless of meeting standard or group of the managers alter standard to meet up time challenge.

    1. True, Competition can also pose a huge demand on the PM because stake holders, management and sponsors will demand projects to be delivered to stay ahead of the competitors with or without increase in funding. This dilemma may tose the PM into compromise standards In order to meet the demands for increase quantity and supply while undermining quality.
But I think this is where ethical standards and code of conducts comes into play to keep the PM in check.

Secondly unstable government policies and political instabilities deeply interfere with projects and the PM’s performance. Just as we can observe the current inflation rates facing the nations with hikes of prices cut across almost all sectors organizations may want a PM to deliver projects regardless with limited findings or sticking to initial budgets. Well this is also where continuous communication with stake holders and good negotiation skills come into Play. And I I also want to say that pose the need for Contingency plans on the part of the PM.

  171. Social and political change, has had a tremendous effect. Environmental change is also one of the many factors contributing to some organizational failures. Technology has been rather helpful to assist in making the everyday life easier and more productive.

As a result we do more engagements and check-ins unlike before. Challenges are always seen before they swop on us.

  239. Well considering the effects of global issues in my place of work, I can say that it left us no choice than to get upgrade in the tools with which we render our service. The improvement in the area of technology is so impactful that if you fail to meet up with the trend you may end up not meeting up with the exact request your clients are placing on you.

So on daily basis you look out for the latest technology available, get used to it so that you can deliver by so doing you will satisfy your client or firm

  240. The global issues mentioned above has had both positive and negative impacts on the education sector in recent years.
Technology has improved significantly on the way lessons are being taught and how the day to day activities of the school are being conducted. With the introduction of technology many curricular and extracurricular activities have been digitalized. This has helped to promote teaching and learning activities, thereby improving students adaptation and in turn attracting new students to the school.
Economic factors such as funding, budgeting of school equipment, employment of new professional staff has been on the low side due to the economic crises in the country.
The education sector has risen to the task and has been able to improve and use new methods to make sure the global issues has minimal effect on it goals while embracing the new development.

  241. In my perspective, the impact of these global issues holds immense importance in strategic planning and decision-making processes. Concerning technology, there are notable challenges, such as the continual need for learning to remain abreast of evolving tools and platforms. The integration of new technologies has the potential to amplify productivity, streamline processes, and enhance project outcomes. Moreover, insight into competitors’ strategies and market trends serves as valuable input for project planning, fostering innovation and refinement. Competitive pressures may also necessitate heightened efficiency and cost-effectiveness in project delivery, prompting meticulous resource allocation and risk management.

Regarding social and political change, shifts in the political landscape can exert influence on stakeholder expectations, regulatory mandates, and market dynamics pertinent to my organization and projects. Establishing and nurturing relationships with pertinent stakeholders, coupled with transparent communication practices, are pivotal in navigating these evolving conditions effectively.

The environmental crisis presents both significant risks and opportunities for my organization and projects. Environmental considerations may trigger regulatory shifts, alter consumer preferences, and shape investor expectations, thereby impacting project prioritization and resource allocation. Conducting thorough assessments of the environmental footprint associated with projects and implementing responsible strategies to mitigate environmental challenges are imperative.

By addressing these global issues proactively, organizations can adapt to fluctuating circumstances, seize opportunities, and mitigate risks, ultimately fostering success and resilience within the dynamic business landscape.

It’s essential for organizations to proactively assess and address these challenges to ensure long-term success and sustainability.

  243. As an entrepreneur, I’m fascinated by the groundbreaking advancements in AI, particularly Generative AI, and its transformative impact on the business landscape. Integrating recent AI technologies into Project Management systems can significantly boost efficiency, particularly in handling complex projects. To fully leverage the potential of this innovation, project managers should also explore acquiring additional skills such as prompt engineering. As the world evolves rapidly and technology continues to reshape our lives, it’s crucial for project managers to evolve alongside it.

  244. Innovate or die! That maxim is so true in today’s world such that companies fold once they’re unable to keep up with the competition.
A project manager needs to always keep abreast of all situations and keep evolving in a bid to have a good grasp of happenings both locally and globally.

  245. Base in my work in food manufacturing ( FMCG), I note the following

    1. Rapid technological advancements can be a double-edged sword. On the positive side, it provides opportunities for innovation in product development, such as incorporating smart packaging or utilizing data analytics for consumer insights. However, the fast pace of technological change also means that staying competitive requires constant adaptation and investment in the latest technologies.

The FMCG sector is highly competitive, and global competition continues to intensify. This necessitates a keen awareness of market trends, consumer preferences, and a nimble approach to adapt products quickly. Differentiation through unique features or sustainable practices becomes critical to stand out in a crowded market.

Shifts in social and political landscapes can significantly influence consumer behavior and preferences. For FMCG, considerations like ethical sourcing, sustainable practices, and alignment with social values are increasingly important. Keeping abreast of these changes is essential to respond effectively in product development.

  246. The world has left the era where man power and only knowledge were the only solution power to manage an Organization or project problems, the world has gotten an era of Technology advancement where a project manager must and should know how to keep records not on papers but on data base documents applications, the world is advancing daily Technological wise and as such a project Manager should not be ignorant of that but rather seize the opportunity and develop his/her skills on that.
Social and political changes and environmental crisis are great determinant of a nation growth or fall, whatever political decisions and actions made in a country would affect the economy of that country, organization and even a project and as such a project manager should know how to observe ,understand the level of economy of the nation and capitalize on that as to make proper decisions for its project or organization growth.

  247. Organizations are usually affected by global factors and issues but as a project manager, you need to be up to date with the issues, planning ways to cease possible ways to resolve these concerned issues so as not to affect the organization

  248. In today’s world where everything is so connected, every organization is influenced by a ton of different global factors. Technology keeps evolving, which can be both exciting and challenging. It opens up new possibilities for doing things differently but also means you’ve got to keep up or risk falling behind. With so many other organizations competing for attention, the company would love to be top in their game which will push them to be more innovative. The world is always changing socially and politically ranging from policies or economic factors and the likes, which affects projects too. With environmental crisis, there’s pressure to be more eco-friendly.

Global issues are being faced by every organization and it’s not avoidable, but these issues enable my organization to recognize and cease new ways of identifying the problem of the society and therefore provide sustainable and lasting solutions to them

  250. In my field, the continuous advancement in technology makes it easier for computing, yet not everyone is conversant, to get in front of this, as a town planner, there is a need to constantly learn about new technologies. The bureaucracies that also come with advocating for the company and considering what the state/ officials consider as acceptable also is one that i keep battling with.

  251. working in a distribution company, i have had to encounter so many factors that hinders or poses a threat to the success of my daily task achivement.
technology has been one factor that has contributed immensely to the ease in operation and record keeping.
Social and Political change affects the smooth running of business when government dont have legalized ways and mediums to dessiminate information to business owners. when they are more keen on penalties than helping citizens identify necessary steps to take discourages the smooth running of my business.

  252. Working in medical field, the impact of global issues such as technology, competition, social and political change, and the environmental crisis have significantly affect my organization and their projects in various ways. In terms of technology, the Covid-19 pandemic has made a lot of innovative ideas spring fort and we now have tele health services, on the flip side, it has also been a source of concern as health practitioners are beginning to worry about the dismissal of man power since the inception of AI, In terms of social change and environmental issues, there is the rise in brain drain affecting availability of some special consultants. In all these challenges, my organization has made conscious effort to consult with practitioners online, do special medical outreaches to raise awareness about the diseases the country is endemic to.

  253. We can not talk about global uncertainty without reflecting on the impact of COVID-19 pandemic that it has caused on projects and changed the way they operate and socialize, and work. Before the outbreak, none was aware of how it was going to affect business and industry operations. During Covid-19 time, there was a time when institutions were obliged to close doors or employees had to work from home through online interaction. This highlighted the need to adopt new technology and innovation. It means that the normal way of operating has changed especially on project performance and project implementation. Therefore, approaches and practices for managing projects had to change from one approach to another.

The global issues mentioned have affected and impacted almost every facet of my organization ranging from
The impact on the education system, school administration, curriculum, enrollment and quality, daily operations, and the rest of it

technology has positively transformed the way school is run and how lessons are delivered, with digital resources readily available. The daily running of the school such as record keeping and information dissemination has been digitalized.

    However, competition
gradually affects the number of enrolment in our school which inversely affects the funding.
Quality however is positively impacted by Competition as this gives rise to constant improvement of the quality of lesson delivery, extracurricular activities, and facilities to attract and retain students

Economic factors greatly affect the budget, staffing, and resources of the organization. the economic factor has also affected staffing as a lot of staff request periodic raises in their salary and this affects the morale of the staff.

In response to all these challenges, my organization has adapted to beat the challenges faced and evolved to embrace and welcome the new technologies gradually making their way into the education sector.

  255. Global issues such as technology, competition, social and political change and environmental crisis can take a lot of toll in delivering of project work or in an Organisation.

Contemporary architects prioritize the integration of sustainable energy sources, the utilization of repurposed materials, and the creation of structures with reduced carbon emissions. To summarise, the architectural sector is shaped by global challenges that propel technical developments, heighten competition, influence design trends, and promote sustainability. To prosper in this ever-changing environment, architectural firms must remain current, adjust to change, and give priority to sustainable practices.

  257. Working with a distribution company, the era of technology has helped not only with metering consumers but also in monitoring the activities of consumers consumptions remotely and securely. It has also helped in monitoring the deployment and usage of materials.
Relating with customer is made easier through AI

  258. Working within the EdTech space with an organisation that is a technical partner to visionary government in transforming education through the introduction of technology into learning activities, being constantly relevant means staying abreast of the current technological trends to maintain a healthy competitive edge. In addition, working with the government equally means the project/programme is always affected by government decisions or policies. However, as one of the experts stated, the show must go on.
The goal is to ensure sustainability irrespective of confronting challenges or complexity of the surrounding systems. Tailoring also comes in handy in such situations.

  259. Certainly, the impact of big global issues such as technology, competition, social and political change, and the environmental crisis can significantly affect organizations and their projects in various ways. Rapid technological breakthroughs can open up new options for project innovation and efficiency improvement. However, they also provide obstacles, such as the need for ongoing learning and adaptation to new tools and approaches. Projects may need to account for technology obsolescence and the integration of new technologies into existing systems. Globalization has intensified competition among organizations, requiring projects to be more strategic and customer-focused to maintain market relevance. Projects may need to prioritize agility and responsiveness to changing market demands to stay ahead of competitors. The environmental crisis creates substantial hurdles for firms seeking to operate sustainably and responsibly. Environmental factors, such as reducing carbon footprint, implementing eco-friendly methods, or addressing climate-related risks, may need to be factored into project planning and implementation. Organizations may also be under pressure from stakeholders and regulators to demonstrate environmental stewardship in their undertakings.
Overall, understanding and addressing the impacts of these global issues on organizations and projects are crucial for ensuring project success and organizational resilience in today’s complex world.

  260. We live in a world where the only thing that is constant is change. As such, we all have to embrace these changes in technology, competition, social and political change, and environmental problems and strive to strike a balance. As an Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, I’ve learned to carry out my roles and responsibilities more efficiently using technology as opposed to the old ways of doing things manually using paper.

  261. Technology, like a relentless tide, sweeps across industries, reshaping landscapes and challenging the status quo. Organizations find themselves at the crossroads of innovation and adaptation.

Advancements: The relentless march of technology introduces new tools, processes, and possibilities. From artificial intelligence to blockchain, organizations must stay informed and agile.
Digital Transformation: The metamorphosis from analog to digital is no longer optional. Organizations that embrace this transformation thrive; those that resist risk obsolescence.
Cybersecurity: As technology permeates every facet of business, safeguarding data and systems becomes paramount. Cyber threats loom large, demanding constant vigilance.

Also, in the global amphitheater, organizations engage in an intricate dance of strategy, survival, and supremacy. The spotlight shines on those who adapt and innovate.

Market Dynamics: The stage is crowded, and the spotlight is fleeting. Globalization intensifies competition. Organizations must differentiate themselves, find their unique voice, and resonate with audiences.
Agility: The nimble dancer pirouettes gracefully. Agility allows organizations to pivot swiftly in response to market shifts, customer demands, and disruptive forces.
Collaboration: Partnerships—like duets in a grand ballet—foster innovation. Organizations join hands, share knowledge, and expand their reach.

Threads of societal shifts and political currents weave through the fabric of organizational life. The warp and weft create patterns of impact.

Diversity and Inclusion: The vibrant hues of diverse perspectives enrich organizational culture. Inclusion isn’t a buzzword; it’s a symphony where every instrument matters.
Policy Impact: The legislative brushstrokes paint organizational landscapes. Changes in regulations ripple through supply chains, HR policies, and strategic planning.
Social Responsibility: Organizations don’t exist in isolation. They engage with communities, address social issues, and contribute to collective well-being.

  262. The intersection of new technology, worldwide trade and competition, social and political disturbances, and the environmental emergency is shaping the global landscape in profound ways. Here are some of the key changes and impacts resulting from these factors:
Technological arrangement:Automation and artificial intelligence are transforming industries, leading to increased efficiency but also displacing traditional jobs.
The rise of remote work and digital platforms is changing the nature of work and employment patterns.
Emerging technologies like block chain, 5G, and quantum computing are revolutionizing various sectors, from finance to healthcare.
worldwide trade and competition: Globalization has intensified competition among businesses, leading to both opportunities and challenges.
Supply chain disruptions, as seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlight the vulnerabilities of interconnected global trade networks.
Trade tensions between major economies, such as the US and China, are reshaping supply chains and international relations.
social and political disturbances: Increasing inequality within and between nations is fueling social unrest and political polarization.
Movements for social justice and equality are gaining momentum, demanding systemic changes in various spheres, including governance, economics, and culture.
Authoritarianism and populism are on the rise in some regions, challenging democratic norms and institutions.
environmental emergencies: Climate change is leading to more frequent and severe extreme weather events, threatening lives, livelihoods, and ecosystems.
Resource depletion, pollution, and loss of biodiversity are exacerbating environmental degradation and impacting human well-being.
The shift towards sustainable practices and renewable energy sources is gaining traction, driven by growing awareness of environmental risks.

  263. Akinmoye Segun Wilson Cohort 13 Team 2

Considering the major global issues like technology, political changes, environmental problems, social and competition and how they affect organisations and my projects. Advancement in technology have become a force behind transformation of many organisations. New Technology now make work easier and minimise error in production which improve efficiency of the work done. The growth in technology also birth competition, as professional can no longer rely on old knowledge but instead strive to unskilled which create a new form of competition as you must have various professional certificates to be able to get some job.
In my field as an engineer, there are new developments everyday and you must recognise it.
Political changes also affect how work is being done or operates, for instance in Nigeria where the rating of dollars keep changing, which makes cost of production increases and also makes companies cut down on staff, so as to have some money after projects completion, this really affect projects as engineer now have to do various jobs that should have been contracted to another person but for the purpose of cutting production prices.

  264. As the world evolves in technology, it is important we embrace everything that comes with it. This will make project, more efficient and less tedious.

  265. Sulaimon Anas Omotayo Cohort 13 team 10

The constant developments in technology, political and social disturbances play a major role on the timeline of projects. The exponential increase of cost of materials due to technological developments, the political reforms established by government bodies and social disturbances affects projects

  266. Ohaegbulan Precious. Cohort 13 team 10
Considering the major global issues and how they affect organisations. Technologies advancements have become a driving force behind organizational transformation. Technologies can enable organisational to streamline operations, improve efficiency and reach a broader customer base.

As an I.T officer, embracing new technologies can lead to competitive advantages and innovation.

Organisations may explore new ways to operate more efficiently and provide value during challenging times.

  267. In response to the declining number of calls despite the evident psychological impact of the economic situation, our helpline project conducted research by administering questionnaires to diverse audiences. The findings revealed a noteworthy barrier: although there was an increase in mental stress and a heightened need for therapy, the perceived expense of making phone calls to our center hindered accessibility for many.

In light of this, we decided to address the financial barrier by introducing an alternative and more cost-effective mode of communication. We’ve now incorporated a WhatsApp chat number alongside our traditional call center line. This addition aims to provide people with a more affordable means of reaching out to us, acknowledging the financial constraints that some individuals may be facing.

By offering a WhatsApp chat option, we anticipate that more individuals will find it easier to connect with our helpline service, fostering a more accessible and inclusive platform for mental health support. This adjustment aligns with our commitment to breaking down barriers and ensuring that our services remain readily available to those in need, particularly during challenging economic circumstances.

  268. Managing project costs in Nigeria these days is so unpredictable with the constant dollar increase and/or decrease.

Chijioke Obioma, Team 5, Cohort 13

  269. Awareness of changes such as social & political change, environmental crisis is essential for aligning our projects with trending &evolving needs that concerns our immediate student community. Eco-Friendly project practise makes these activities align with the global environment goal. However there should be a balance in the Agile and Traditional management approaches for effective implementation as the world revolves.

  270. The political and climatic context generally has unpredictable impacts on my organization’s projects. This is particularly evident in the case of the war in the East of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), which disrupts road traffic and compels the populations in our project area to leave their respective living environments. This complex situation demands constant adaptation and mobilization to find sustainable solutions in the face of challenges posed by these political and climatic factors.

  271. Global issues such as technology, competition, social and political changes, and environmental issues have a significant impact on organizations and the projects they undertake.

Technology: While technology offers opportunities for efficiency gains in all areas. organizations have to continuously adapt to rapid changes.
Competition: In as much as competition leads to innovation. organizations are faced with the pressure to adapt to changing market trends to stay competitive.
Social and Political Changes: Understanding socio-political landscapes is crucial for effective stakeholder engagement and communication.
Environmental issues: Organizations have to increasingly integrate sustainability into their operations in order to mitigate environmental impacts.

  272. The use of technology has helped project efficiency in reducing repetitive work to help my team work faster and more efficiently on delegated tasks. Projects are now mostly automated, follow up reports are easily seen through technology and it has enabled me to accomplish many tasks quickly and efficiently.

  273. As a student union leader, I need to consider how major global issues impact our organization and the projects we undertake. Here’s how these issues affect us:

    1. Technology: The rapid advancement of technology significantly impacts how we engage with students, manage events, and communicate. Embracing digital tools and platforms is crucial to enhance our outreach, improve member engagement, and streamline administrative processes.

    2. Competition: Increased competition among student organizations means we must be more innovative and strategic in project planning. We need to differentiate our initiatives to attract and retain student members.

    3. Social and Political Change: Shifts in social and political dynamics can influence student interests and priorities. Staying aware of these changes is essential for aligning our projects with the evolving needs and concerns of our student community.

    4. Environmental Crisis: Environmental concerns, like sustainability and climate change, are becoming increasingly important for student organizations. Incorporating eco-friendly practices and projects into our activities aligns with global environmental goals and resonates with environmentally conscious students.

In light of these factors, I must stay informed, adapt to change, and use project management approaches responsive to uncertainty and shifting dynamics in the educational and social environment. We may need to balance traditional project management methods with agile approaches to remain adaptable and effective in a complex and ever-changing world.

  274. Global issues can have an impact on a project or an organization. Using Nigeria as a case study, the legal tender in the company is really affecting the value of the currency, to carryout any project now too much money will be spent just to get a project done because it has lose it value

  275. Global issues can have a strong impact in an organisation’s project and decision, in a case of currency devaluation which is influenced by political changes, this can affect the budget and timelines of project negatively.
In cases of competition which is cause by oversaturated market, this can affect the project Negatively hence the need to create a more improved version of whatever project an organisation is handling to differentiate and give them an edge over other competitors.

  276. Global issues such as technology, competition, social and political changes, and environmental issues can and do impact organisation’s and project in both positive and negative ways.
In the engineering world, new technology brought about new, easier and effect ways of completing projects on time with less hands on or hard work, plus it has enhances communication too.
Social and political changes affect through change in laws and policies, social reactions to changes by ongoing project.
Competitions is now on the rise due to new technologies, it’s availability and use of it.
Environmental issues, global issues do affect companies and project as it disrupts vendor of material and tools which in turn affect project timeline and deadline.
In general, all this issues can affect a project manager engaged on a project but then should readily be able to anticipate, accept and work round/with these changes.

  277. Technology enhances communication, which in essential aspect of project management across different fields.

Social and environmental changes have affected the event sector in a lot of negative ways, most problems caused by economic changes. Companies and individuals can no longer afford events of their dreams which limits creativity in the part of event project managers.

  278. It is true that global issues such as new technology, trade and competition, social and political actions and inactions, and the global environmental crisis have effect on the world that we live in and the work that we do. Global crisis and political instability affect my organization and my project. It makes completion of old and new projects almost impossible to meet up with the deadline.

  279. It is true that global matters like new technology, trade and competition, social and political disturbances, and the environmental emergencies affect the world that we live in and the work that we do.

As a Journalist, political disturbance has to be the height of these for the journalism profession. Most media houses filter their stories especially political ones that involve big wigs before publishing. This is because press freedom is not guaranteed in the country where I live and work.

  280. global issues like technology, competition, social and political changes, and environmental problems, had affected different aspect of our life and even the project we Carry out. So of these changes have been useful as it makes work faster and easy why some have affected it negatively.

  281. The global issues really impacted our library organization:
Technology: Libraries are influenced by technological advancements in terms of digitization, online resources, and information management systems. We adapted to evolving technologies to offer digital services, enhance accessibility, and manage electronic collections efficiently.
Competition: With the rise of digital content platforms and online resources, our library faced competition for information dissemination. To remain relevant, we need to focus on specialized collections, unique services, and community engagement to distinguish our services.
Social and Political Changes: We were affected by societal shifts and political changes as they play a crucial role in providing diverse perspectives and information. There was need to be responsive to societal needs, promoting inclusivity, diversity, and addressing issues related to censorship and intellectual freedom.
Environmental Problems: Our Library like other organizations, are increasingly considering environmental sustainability. This involves initiatives such as reducing paper consumption, energy-efficient operations, and promoting eco-friendly practices in our community outreach.
In summary, libraries must navigate these global issues by embracing technology, differentiating themselves in a competitive landscape, staying socially and politically aware, and contributing to environmental sustainability in their operations.

  282. COVID-19 Was the global pandemic that really affected almost every sector of working. For me I work in a non-profit organization which works to promote healthy living through evidence based social behavior change communication, In COVID-19 we were surely affected ranging from complexity of new schedules of remote working (New approach) to responsible relevant community interventions to fight against the pandemic. So, in this world every organization should always be sought to be designed in a way that accept changes. (Flexibility)

  283. Global issue such as food insecurity and climatic change has significant impact on the economy, thereby creating more inflation against food industry.

It creat scarcity of food and challenges food vendors to close up

  284. Global issues like technology, competition, social change, political change, and the environment can have a significant impact on construction companies in Nigeria. For example, advances in technology, such as new materials and methods, can impact the way construction projects are completed. Competition from other countries, such as China, can put pressure on Nigerian construction companies to improve their efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Social and political change can impact the availability of funding and labor, and environmental concerns can impact the types of projects that are approved and built.
These global issues do have a variety of impact projects. For example, new technologies can make projects more efficient and effective, but they can also lead to higher costs and increased competition. Social and political change can lead to delays or disruptions in projects, and environmental concerns can add new layers of regulations and costs. These issues can also have an impact on the skills and resources that are available for the projects, which can affect how quickly and efficiently they are completed.

  285. The emergence of technology, along with other global issues like global warming and environmental concerns, spells more problems for an already complex world. A project manager should be able to anticipate issues that may result from these challenges and come up with solutions, as well as identify the right people to successfully deliver on projects. For example, when a law firm seeks to launch a freelance app for legal services, the Project Manager (PM) should first understand that there is already competition in the market. The PM should then consider possible solutions, such as communicating with the project sponsor, stakeholders, and team members about the need to add novel or catchy features to the app. This will distinguish it from other freelance apps already available to the public. It could potentially attract investors and active subscribers upon the launch of the app.

  286. Technological, political, economic and even legal changes are bound to happen and makes its own effect in the business. Project managers should learn to adapt to changes in whatever forms it may have come. Not to quickly forget the fact that, a project manager should not run away in the face of challenges, critical creative decisions that would not defile ethical standards are required to take into consideration.
For example, in my organization as a book publishing firm, the financial challenges of inflation have come to bedeviled business, and the publishing industry is not excempted. For the fact that so many finds it difficult to have there three square meals, is an indication of it suggesting that many may find it difficult to get their manuscripts published. On the course of our research, we have to publish a book that we think may be used as an avenue to raise money for our organization in order for it to remain a going concern, we were not surprised that for almost a year now, the same first edition of the book that sold 1000 copies within 3 months in 2017 can not sell 30 copies within its 6 months of publishing now, an indication of economic crisis which affects the cover price, even though many wishes to buy it but do not have the got to part away with the cost it carries.

Since our organization have to remain a going concern, we need to strategically decide to go for another fashion of booklets publications in which even the children can afford to buy without requesting money from their parents, and this decision was a huge success.

  287. As a project manager that was involved in a pig farm project, I understand that political diversity can be a very big issue in land acquisition processes especially when it’s meant for a personal business by a person with a different political belief. Technology has really helped human kind in most ways, it has helped in many ways like communication and making work on the site easy, more efficient and faster productivity, the major disadvantage of technology on the pig farm project was the inexperience of workers to use technology device effectively because most of the farm workers are not educated to understand the usage of advance technology materials. Social integration and interaction about pig farm produce has really made me to understand more about pig farm and also how to use the competition around as a source of motivation for my team.

  288. Global issues such as technology, social and political changes, competition affect projects in diverse ways.
Technology, have really improved ways things are being done by making it faster and reaching a wider range of audience. The applications and tools used helps with building up our project plans and easy tracking . The downside is the fact that not everyone is very comfortable using it.
Everything rises and falls on Leadership.Political changes significantly affect our projects. Here policies are made, the economy is determined, security is hinged on that, other infrastructure needed is dependency on that.Hence ,not considering the influence of politics on our projects is a recipe for failure.
Competition in itself is not a bad idea, but not being able to manage it can affect our work.Hence ,constant research, customer feedback, stakeholders engagement is required to be able to manage competition effectively.

  289. The interconnection of issues sharpens or mars a project.
As a trader and a project planner in my local church, I have had series of experiences as to how these events topples and influence projects.
we will take them one at a time:

Technology: No doubt technology is infact a rel time blessing to those whose businesses are online based or has to use the online space. As a trader, I use tech to reach out to a lot of interested clients, and educate others on my product.

Competition is either healthy or not depending on who’s involved. to me, competition helps me to strive to be a better person, improve in my strategies and discover new ways to do things.

Social and political change. This I think play a larger than life role in determining the success of whatever one is doing. If not properly checked, could mar any project.
currently, I’m handling a project that has to do with organizing a ssocioeducational event with theme on Religion, synodality and civic responsibility for a better Nigeria” while I went through the rules of engagement and the theme,it dawned on me that everything rise and rest on government policies.

  291. My experience as a teacher in a college shows that In few years time so many people will be out of job, this is so because when my institution embraced digital learning in the college so many teachers couldn’t cope because they don’t belong to this generation. Many of them had to depend on the students to help them do the connection even after the college had organised seminar on the use of these gadgets earlier.

Overall, organizations must carefully navigate these global issues to mitigate risks, capitalize on opportunities, and ensure project success. This may involve proactive strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and ongoing monitoring and adaptation to changing external factors.

  303. Technology has facilitated research and development efforts, making projects easy to carry out.Environmental issues such as climate change and pollution pose risks to carrying out projects effectively and efficiently.

  304. Technology as made things so easily including life itself, technology helped with making online classes possible to taking studies in places you’d never dram of going to and meeting people online
It helps with online sales which has proved very effective coz it brings people closer to us and reaching a large customer base

  305. Technology have been of great help to me especially in the class room where the notes and the lesson plans are handy in the system. also the use of audio visuals in bringing to issues closer to the learners are also great feats which cannot be over emphasized

  306. The impact of technology has really help my field of work. Using laptop, computers, projectors foe teaching and also online classes. And competitions too, different school are trying to introduce new things for the betterment of the school so making my school to look for ways to be outstanding.

  307. The covid-19 pandemic and the never ending social and political unrests going on in the world, although devastating, has brought about heavy reliance on technology. Things that were thought impossible to accomplish are now being done with the advent of technology.

It has made it so much easier and also enhance competition amongst projects managers.

  308. The impact of technology on my organization has been very positive over time. At a point, there were challenges in the aspect of engaging the services of technologically inclined people as only a handful of the employees then could handle some of the ICT gadgets needed for the project at inception. The organization had to engage in a series of trainings to upgrade both the old team members and the newly engaged ones.

The organization was faced with serious competition from the existing company which also carries out similar tasks as ours.

Socio-political change has been a major setback as this period is characterized by unrest, communal crisis, and insecurity.

The points stated above contributed to loss of man hour which posed a major threat to the time target for the project.

  309. Technology, competition have a major impact in my organization especially the kind of changes it brought alongside but the ability to streamline these changes in our operation and standards makes us better.

  310. Technology updates everyday and can bring about change{ change they say constant so must try and adapt to the changes that might come our way during the project . so its important for project manager to be able to adapt to any change .
Political climate can change at any time because any new governace comes in with their own rules there by creating a change in the sector

  311. Change can be stressful for employees, and it’s important for project managers to consider the impact of change on employee morale and engagement.
And with technology Projects can be done with ease

  312. New technology, has in no small measure, brought about a huge change in the way tasks get accomplished, all this stem from competitiveness of various companies that drive the technological change. the advantage of this competition, is that it gives room for one to make a choice of what best fits, or apply to the individual or organization, and also to work within one’s affordable budget. in no small way has technology also helped in shaping the way time is managed, as it helps in reducing the amount of time wasted on a task.
one of the disadvantages of the new technology, is that not everyone has access to it, and incorporating it to workers or team members job schedules, could be a daunting task.
political climates, are very uncertain terrains, which changes at will without notice, this is a very common occurrence in developing nations and also a huge determining factor for any project. Key issues like these, really affect the scope of work and deliverables.

  313. The emergence of technology has undoubtedly increased the output of our everyday work in some areas, Narrowing it down to project management, we couldn’t have gotten a job done fast enough without the advent of those sophisticated equipment.

Also getting the hands of the stakeholders on deck, especially those fully involved in the project is very pertinent and given them the avenue to be familiar with the technological trends that will improve the the overall output is very necessary.

  314. The effects of technology, environmental emergencies, social and political disturbances, world-wide trade and competition cannot be overemphasized in today’s world.
    1. With technology in all sectors, projects can now be done with ease but, it has also created disadvantages in every sector e.g. students now focus more on the media with the availability of smart phones rather than making efforts to study, workers in organizations are being laid off with the availability of machines etc.
    2. Projects now require high budget to be carried out due to poor government policies leading to inflation, This has made several projects to be done with less quality thereby, jeopardizing the reputation of firms.
    3. Climate and irregular weather changes has contributed to strict government policies. These are now affecting projects and project managers in their decision making. Also, stiff competition from opposing firms is one of the factors affecting critical decisions such as project negotiation, implementation and profit of most firms.
However, project managers now need to be on their toes and plan properly with the project team so as to make use of technology in a way that will suit their firms. Also, effective communication and contingency plans need to be devised to combat possible threats posed by environmental, government, and social changes.

  315. Well in this world we should know that change is occurring things
Which are technology, politics and more
So as a project manager we should always be ready for change and be ready to adept to any situation to ensure the success of the project

  316. New technology has created opportunities for people, companies, and industries and improved product and service quality.
    Political change affects jobs,
where there is a change of administration, jobs and contracts are awarded to another set of people or workers.
Change is constant, so project managers should be able to adapt to all types of challenges and be able to deliver products to satisfy his/her clients

  317. New technology have created opportunities for people, companies and industries and also improved quality of products and services.
    Political change affects jobs,
where there is change of administration, jobs and contracts are awarded to another set of people or workers.
Change is constant, so project managers should be able to adapt to all type of challenges and be able to deliver products to satisfy his/her clients

  318. Political change affected a job we were to commence just weeks before the change of administration in 2023. The job was put on a halt and eventually it was rewarded to another contractor.
In another scenario we had quoted for a Job and it wasn’t awarded till the following year, and like the new popular saying in Nigeria, ‘today’s price, isn’t the same as tomorrow’s’. Prices of materials had gone up over 60% and we had to have a contract review which didn’t go down so well with our clients .

  319. The rapid change that is happening in the technology industry has done nothing but affect my organization positively as it has opened so much more doors and created room for more opportunties . Thanks to these changes, I am able to learn more and advance exponentially in my skills .

  320. Advancements in technology have created opportunities for my industry (energy) to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality of products or services. Embracing new technologies has led to improved efficiency and better results.
Increased environmental/safety regulations and sustainability standards has made my industry to adapt their operations to minimize environmental impact and to work in a safer environment.
Shifting social trends and increased awareness has led to increased engagement with host communities for a sustainable relationship that is mutually beneficial.

  321. Daily, life throws complications at us and all we can do is manipulate them to our favour. Like they say, change is the only thing constant.

As a journalist, major global issues like technology, competition, social and political changes, and environmental problems stare me in the face in the course of my duties; but thanks to our policy of knowing a bit of everything, we get by.

    1. Technology is in perpetual advancement and only the smart can catch up. Changes occur in gadgets, tools, systems, apps and softwares, and paraphernalia that can help deliver daily tasks. The latest is Artificial Intelligence (AI).

    2. These technological advancements breed competition. Colleagues will devise new ways of getting their jobs done faster and more efficiently. Once you get left behind, it’s hard to catch up.

    3. Social and political changes involves government policies that may hamper or improve work flow. These policies may either blossom or kill economies and businesses. Example, the Twitter ban in Nigeria in June 2021 hampered work flow, because the bird app remains a major source of information and story leads in the jet age. How we survived..? We installed VPNs on our devices.

    4. Environmental problems like climate change, unsustainable lifestyles, food shortages, etc also contribute to complexities at work.

Project Managers must develop resilient skills to navigate these challenges and deliver on projects to the satisfaction of their clients and stakeholders. Adaptability is the key word.

  322. Technology
it has positively affected my project management and our firm as it was a key factor for driving success during global crises like the COVID lockdown.

    Competition
The market is always and ever competitive but we see this as an opportunity to innovate and do something better than everyone else, we do not see competition in a negative light.

Social and political change is something we anticipate and plan for in every project, we consider how it can affect the project, the risks, and the opportunities. This way we do not get taken unawares and affect project delivery.

  323. The positive effects of technology on society are extending the life span of people, increased productivity through the inventions of machines which makes work easier. Also competition has impacted my organisation by helping us to stay grounded when it comes to the services we render

  324. We need to understand the world around us because, change is a constant phenomenon. Change affect the project itself and the people involved in it. It is important to take considerable look into these changes and adapt where necessary.

    1. There’s always a saying THAT *CHANGE IS CONSTANT AND INEVITABLE* ever since the invention of technology the world has benefited so much with this invention it helps the world and people in it perform tasks at a faster pace and it make information go viral.

  325. There’s a saying that change is constant and inevitable. No matter the circumstances, change will always bound to occur. That is why a good Project manager should also be a forecaster. In a world where there would always be some external factors which global change is among them, it is ideal to be anticipate what could go wrong during a project and sometimes some changes are unpredictable but project manager should be able to quick resolve and difficult external changes that would bring effect on a project. So, the reaction towards the changes would determine whether the effect of changes would be positive or negative at the completion of the project.

  326. Global issues like technology, competition, social and political changes, and environmental problems.

Technology has advance so much that aside from the knowledge gap, there is a need to transcend with the movement so one would not be left out as a PM. It is either you follow the trend or you go obsolete in the traditional method.

Political change is also a major factor to consider in terms of new policies being made. Policies affect the way things are done, if we don’t pay attention to policies, we might fail or waste resources and time.

There is serious market/global competition, unlike years back. We have tools now the make thing more competitive, unlike before people are open to AI tools, application online that give them information on what to do.

There are environmental problems that affect global way of doing things. A good understanding of the project environment is important for effective project.

  327. The world as we know it is battling with so much complexity ranging from global warming, to food shortages, drought, war ,political upheavals, insurgency, terrorism and the likes and all these affect organizations worldwide especially if an organization is caught between the crossfire of where these issues occur. As a project manager one has to adapt to these and make changes where necessary.

  328. Understanding the world around us is key as it keeps changing and this changes affect the project itself and the people involved in it. It is important to take considerable look into these changes and adapt where necessary.

  329. There is a wave of change happening in the world at large in the technology world and if you don’t catch up you will be left behind. Every organisation who is willing to thrive should be looking at how to incorporate technology into their daily activities for sooth running.

As political changes occur, there is an outburst of new policies and sometimes new economic reforms which might either make the economy better for business and project to thrive or better still disrupt their chances of good success. All these issues affects all organisations and they are complexities that we have to navigate really well to success in any given project.

  330. Social and political changes have a great impact on the economy of a country which may bring about inflation of prices of commodities and raw materials there by affecting productivity of firms and organizations.
I work in an agricultural sector and the current inflation we are facing presently, is the reason some farms and agribusinesses are folding up or out of business.

  331. No condition or situation is permanent. As such change is a very important element in life in general and should be considered and integrated in every steps of the like cycle. Hence the necessity of being flexible, nurturing the ability to adjust, adapt, accommodate, compromise at times. Radicalism can’t be a good way of seeing things for a project manager.

  332. Change is inevitable, change happens to everybody and everything on earth. So an organization should adapt to progress or evolution. COVID changed the working ethics of most organizations across the world from working on-site to working remotely and the world adjusted to it. Technology makes working remotely stress-free and easier.

  333. Technology has made it difficult to want to stay traditional as there are lot of new ways to get things done, things are advancing and changing rapidly and the end users of every product are on a fast pace to catch up with the trend.

so as an organisation you can not stay rigid in such a world, if not you will be left behind. its okay to stay original but you have to keep innovating so as to stay relevant.

  334. Technology
In my field as a Virtual Assistant, the typical tasks being performed include scheduling appointments, making phone calls, making travel arrangements, managing email accounts, and completing tasks that might require using some software and tools. Technology has helped us become more innovative, we look for tools or apps that can help us collaborate and deliver work or projects more efficiently.

    competition
When it comes to competition, these days we have different types of artificial intelligence (AI) tools that can understand and respond to client problems as well, this is a big issue for my organization and that is why we stick to continuous learning and improving our skills to remain relevant and needed in the industry.

Social and political changes, environmental problems
These factors affect different organizations in different ways. As a project manager, it is important to understand the environment before even starting a project. Knowing government policies, political structure, and environmental conditions is essential to a successful project. Getting this information and communicating it to the right people could help cub whatever challenges that might arise.

  335. In my organization, the rapid pace of technological advancement affects our projects by constantly evolving the tools and platforms we use, requiring us to adapt and stay updated to remain competitive. Globalization influences our projects by introducing diverse perspectives, markets, and potential collaborators, but also increasing competition and regulatory complexity. Social and political upheaval can disrupt supply chains, market dynamics, and stakeholder relationships, impacting project timelines and resource allocation. Lastly, the environmental crisis prompts us to consider sustainability and environmental impact in our projects, influencing decisions on resource usage, product design, and waste management. Overall, these global issues shape the context in which we operate, impacting project selection, planning, and execution strategies.

  336. Technologies, competition, social and political changes.
Technology has to to a high extend improve the time project are delivered. Jobs that 10 people will take 3 days to get do e can be handled by an individual within hours.
Social and political crisis in the other hand affects projects due to change in government… And change in government policies.
Climate also can cause either delay or complete a complete change in approach of how a job should be delivered. An example is flood, destroying or causing delay.

  337. Technological advancement in the globe is dynamic. With the rate of advancement in technology, the way projects can be delivered is different.

Social and political changes can mar or positively affect the delivery of a project through economic reforms, policies and regulations.

Environmental Issues such as social unrest, war, pollution, flooding and natural disasters can affect the execution of a project.

  338. When talking about project management, there is the need to be able to adjust to trends and evolutions, and so a PM must be able to embrace technologies. These Technologies may have a positive effect wish may favor you, else, as a PM, you make strategies to make sure that it favors you.

Also, political crisis may affect too, in the sense that new laws and policies may have negative repercussions.

Environmental influences too, there may be a virtual meeting to make the project grow, but weather and climate may cause a low or poor connection in service thereby causing a lag in the progress

  339. Changes in political stability and legislation can in many ways may affect the design, process and implementation of a project.

New laws may favor or derail a project, social instability may render projects unimplementable.
Natural disasters such as floods, fires and harsh climate patterns may affect communication, productivity or even lead to distruction of key facilities used in a project.

The list is long, includes a very recent coroner pandemic that altered how business is conducted in many ways.

  340. When talking about technology, every PM or organization must embrace technology, in fact you can imagine a work to be done manually in three weeks with 30 man force, with help of technology it can be achieved in few days…

Social and politcal crisis: this can affect a Project or organization by government introducing new policy which may not be favorable to the organization but they must abide by the law or policy which government have enforced…

Environmental crisis: this can be in form of
    climate change,depleting natural resources etc
which can as well lead to loss of employees, loss of resources, loss of product, profit

  341. When talking about the global issues, they are like the macro environment that affects every organization..

Talking about technology,Change in technology affects how organizations will do business and how project will be done.Technology influences the method use to make research in a project and develop new products for an organization. When a PM or an organization focus on an old or low technology,it can make work not to get faster .

Social and politcal crisis: this can affect the organization or project in such a way that governments can decide to release a policy which the organization and project manager has no power over. In this case, any project that has started or yet to start must pend and this can even affect the successful of the project or organization.

Environmental crisis: this can be in form of
Pollution, climate change, depleting natural resources etc which can as well lead to loss of employees, loss of resources, loss of product, profit etc. which can affect a project in an organization.

  342. In my case, technology has impacted positively in handling projects. The invention of new industrial machines with all calibers of innovative designs is a great relief in the fashion and design industry.
Negatively, social and political disturbances has caused more harm than good. Clients now distinguish who to contract base on social and political differences which include religious belief especially in a region like Nigeria.
There are also complex issues like environmental crisis. To everyone, safety of life and property is the greatest priority.
These can be tackled base on the quality of service you render, customer/client relationship and meeting required deadline.

  343. Many companies do face big global issues such as technology, competition, social, and political changes which determines whether a company will succeed in the marketplace and gain market share for them to exist. All these changes will affect each company differently, whether a positive impact or a negative one. A company who is able coup and knows how to deal with all these issues, will succeed in the market place. Rapid technological changes may require constant adaptation. Cybersecurity threats and the need for up-to-date skillsets can pose challenges to your organization. Increased competition may require constant efforts to differentiate your organization or projects. Market saturation and price wars could affect profitability. Social and political instability can lead to uncertainties and disruptions. Changes in regulations may require adjustments to your projects or business model.

  344. Organizations are ideated on concepts and values that drive their existence, and this existence is not immune to the complexities whether social, economic, or technological inherent in the system. It is these complexities that would make or break a project. The Project Manager must play the moderator through a combination of technological and soft skillset to ensure the survival of any project, and its offerings of the expected deliverables within the allocated budget and timeline.

  345. Navigating these global issues such as technology, competition, social and political changes requires strategic foresight, adaptability, and proactive management. By staying informed, embracing innovation, and integrating sustainability into your organization and projects, you can mitigate risks, capitalize on opportunities, and drive long-term success in a rapidly changing world.

  346. Undoubtedly, nothing is static in this world. More especially in a world of today which is driven by technology, the pace at which changes happen is beyond imagination. Also, the current trend in global political crisis and unrest has caused serious problems for businesses operating both locally and globally.
Again, we cannot speak without mentioning the human factors creating environmental havoc in our present world. All of these factors have brought disruptions to businesses.

I could remember vividly when a government policy disrupted a project i was executing for a client in 2014. This policy affected the schedule and budget of the project so much that the sponsor almost gave up on it.

As a PM, it is important to understand operating environment largely before even starting a project. Information is key! Get every bit of information that you could as it relates to government policies, community relations, political structure, environmental condition, etc.
A PM should bear in mind that obstacles would arise in the course of the project and create adequate risk factors.

Pro-activness, collaboration and effective communication are other ways a PM could help to minimize disruptions in this current complex world.

    Regards.

  347. As a civil engineer, global issues like technology, competition, social and political change, and the environmental crisis can significantly impact my organization and projects in several ways:
    1. Technology: Advancements in technology can introduce new tools and methodologies that can improve efficiency and accuracy in your projects.
