Communicating with stakeholders – DISCUSSION

  1. In my role, keeping stakeholders engaged and informed is essential, so some of the communication strategies from the project managers in the video really struck a chord with me.

One key takeaway was about adapting communication style to fit each person’s needs. For example, clients often want a clear picture of where things stand, but some prefer a quick summary, while others appreciate a more detailed report. Team members, on the other hand, need quick, to-the-point updates to keep tasks moving. I’ve found that matching my style to each person’s preference helps keep everyone connected without overloading them.

Another practical strategy is being open and transparent, especially when things don’t go as planned. I try to communicate regularly, sharing both wins and any roadblocks we might hit. If there’s a delay, for instance, I make sure to address it right away and let stakeholders know what I’m doing to get things back on track. This approach helps build trust—they know I’m being straight with them and that I’m actively managing any bumps in the road.

Finally, I’ve found that visual tools make complex updates a lot easier to digest. For instance, using tools like Asana or even a quick chart can give clients a snapshot of progress without overwhelming them. It’s a straightforward way to make sure everyone, from clients to teammates, has the information they need, right when they need it.

I will explore communicating with stakeholders constantly, with a concise and clear written communication plan. This will help you keep the right data and ensure you do not forget the important discussion points.

    1. Constant communication with stakeholders is essential. I believe in always having a plan, so for my first meeting with a stakeholder, I would already have a communication plan and tailor it to the stakeholder. It will go like this; does the stakeholder prefer regular updates? Does the stakeholder prefer a written report or a presentation?

  3. Communication with stakeholders can’t be over emphasis because it foster long lasting relationship with the client. And also transperancy.

  4. As a project manager, the technique that I will employ for a project is constant communication with the Stakeholders and tailor it to each Stakeholders communication style.

I will also keep them informed of the project’s progress to ensure transparency

  5. As a Project Manager, the techniques that would work best for me would be, sharing bad news to the stakeholders individually, rather than dropping a bombshell to a group of stakeholders. Another technique would be to find out the style of communication that will work best for each stakeholder and tailor it to them individually as well; find out what mode of communication each person is comfortable with and adjust the style where and when necessary.

  6. As a project manager constant communication with the stakeholders is very important. By giving them report on the progress of the project in case there are any push up backs, or additional equipment required. The stakeholders feedback is important too

  7. Being proactive in terms of communication as a project manager with stakeholders, team members is important key to bringing the project into a beautiful and exceptional conclusion.
As communication helps to see laps, problems that need urgent attention, being informed of every stages of the project process.

  8. Having constant communication with the stakeholders is very essential at each stage of the project, it’s good to carry them along.
Even when you have a negative report, try and meet the stakeholders individually so that they will not be caught unaware.
    Communication is important.

  9. Having accurate information is essential for effective communication, as it often helps prevent issues from arising. I also appreciated the insight from one of the PMs about adapting our communication style to suit the individual we’re engaging with—it truly makes an impact. Plus, if there’s bad news to deliver, it’s beneficial to bring possible solutions along with it.

  10. Constant communication with the stakeholders cannot be over emphasized because it helps both the project manager and the clients to be on the same clear page on the project. I also agree with the part of being discreet in the dissemination of bad news about the project to the stakeholders or clients.
