Communication with major stakeholders in the education section is very important,
To teach is to communicate. One cannot be an excellent educator if they do not possess strong communication skills. According to Silver (2018),
Education is all about communication – listening, speaking, reading, presenting and writing, educators who have high communication skills are prepared to instruct, advise and mentor students entrusted in their care. Additionally, they must communicate well to effectively collaborate with colleagues and update administrators on student progress. Frequently, parents call, visit or email, so teachers must be adept at answering questions verbally and in writing.
As noted above, teachers are engaged in communication with many different people. While much of a teacher’s day is spent with their students, they must also interact with other teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, parents, and community members. Many first-year teachers are surprised by how many different forms of communication they must engage in each day. Because of this, it is good to have a basic understanding of the different types of communication.
Communication with stakeholders is indispensable, it is because you need their input to process it to arrive at the desired output e.g when working with farmers on improved fertilizers for their crops, their input was very essential in developing a form of super granule fertilizer that met their expectation
Communication is like a two mouth arrow where there is understanding in both ends. As a business owner, one thing that terrifies me the most is bearing bad news to my client, it presents an act of incompetency. But it’s not always that. When bad news are relayed to clients it brings a kind of mutual understanding that eventuality don’t always happen but when it does, it shouldn’t be seen as an act of incompetence but rather as something that can happen to anyone. This way, there’s a clear understanding in both sides.
As an Agribusiness entrepreneur, I can provide you with my understanding of how the strategies suggested by project managers for stakeholder communication can apply in my field:
1. Understand stakeholder needs: This strategy involves actively listening and understanding the needs, expectations, and concerns of stakeholders. This approach can be valuable in any organizational context as it helps build trust, improve collaboration, and tailor communication to meet stakeholder expectations.
2. Adapt communication style: Different stakeholders may have varying levels of knowledge or expertise in agribusiness. Adapting my communication style to match their level of understanding can help ensure effective communication and understanding of important information.
3. Clear and concise messaging: Breaking down complex information into clear and concise messages is crucial for effective communication. This applies to any organization, including agribusiness, where stakeholders may have limited time or knowledge to grasp detailed concepts.
4. Keep stakeholders informed: Regularly updating stakeholders on project progress, milestones, and outcomes can help maintain their engagement and support. Timely and relevant communication is essential in agribusiness, where unforeseen circumstances or external factors can impact operations.
5. Tailor communication channels: As Project manager, I consider using appropriate communication channels such as email, face-to-face meetings, or digital platforms based on stakeholder preferences and accessibility. This approach can help ensure information reaches stakeholders in the most effective and efficient way.
strong communication skills are essential for project managers to ensure that information flows effectively, expectations are met, and stakeholders are engaged and satisfied. Effective communication underpins every aspect of successful project management.
Personally in my business, ive always been scared of being a beaer of bad news so most times i patch it up but with this lecture i ammade aware that bringing the bad news isnt a problem but i should study the room before i do and also i should have a solution or series of it in hand for the meeting.
furthermore i agree with the idea of speaking to stakeholders personally to be in the know about a badnews before bringing it to everyone notice, it is definitely something to take home and improve upon
I now understand the importance of one on one talk, never to bring bad news first or generally, as the effects/revolts would be better cushioned when information is passed individually using each person’s communication tool.
As a Project Manager, never neglect the Sponsors, the underground team members or anyone at all, you may miss out on a strong alliance for the success of the project. Everyone is important.
An effective communication with good communication skill is vital when communicating with not just your team but stakeholders as well. A good PM must be proactive, and must be a good listener. Being a good listener enables you to understand the message your team is passing or even what the sponsor is trying to communicate, this will give you an edge on how best to communicate.
Effective communication with the Stakeholders, team members and clients involved in the the project is crucial to the success of the project, never be afraid to bring the challenges you discovered when analyzing the project to the table and also provide solutions.
YOU CANNOT NOT COMMUNICATE WITH ALL THE PARTIES INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT.
Effective communication is essential while coordinating a project and as a project manager you need to prepare the team and brainstorm together to ensure you get your project finished on time and carry the stakeholders along during the project.
