  1. Communication is key to effective project management, learning communication skills is important key to successful project implementation. Never drop a bad news on the first meeting, it is like a bombshell, it tends to turn people off. All stakeholders (clients, sponsors, project team, professional managers) are all important, they must be adequately informed through communication.

  2. I think communication depends on the client you have at hand, so firstly you need to understand your client and know the type of communication that best suits them.

  3. Communication channels should be tailored to suit the kind of clients involved. On a personal note, communicating to stakeholders and clients on individual basis is best advised to bring everyone involved up to speed with the progress and challenges of the project at every stage.

  4. For my organization (Engineering consulting), it is highly recommended & crucial to communicate as quickly as possible to clients, stakeholders, colleagues, project teams, cos this tells what stage the project is, the health of the project, viability, and most importantly is that, is the project achievable under the prevailing circumstances.

  5. Something new for me on this piece of advice is that as a PM, don’t announce bad news without much thinking through. It is best to meet each stakeholder individually and break the news to them; then when you all come for the forum, you can spill it all; with that, you would have measured all their reactions and they would also have thought through the news individually.

  6. My organization normally requires multiple approaches shared by the PMs in the video. Sometimes I need to back up my claims with evidence so as to keep my sponsor committed to the project and other times I have to just present the information as quickly as possible and leave. Thankfully latter rarely happens since I have stakeholder who are really invested in their commitment.
However, I find that presenting evidence to my sponsor works most of the time in every situation.

  7. In line with the interaction with stakeholders , communication is a key tool because on site , the application of plans can change or be modified due to different reasons which can or cant be envisaged, hence getting the right approach and tools to team members can ensure proper deliverable. Language also as a means of communication may also serve as a barrier hence effective and proactive approach to getting the information across with the right communication tool makes project management roles effective and on point

    1. Communication is a vital tool but writing communication is more crucial for easy access to progress tracking and clarity.

    2. I agree that communication with stakeholders by the project managers is crucial for the success of the project, therefore the project manager should regularly update clients on progress, address concerns promptly, and ensure clear understanding of expectations. Use a combination of emails, status reports, and meetings to maintain transparency and build a strong client relationships

    3. Communication is important either verbal or written. However for me, I’d have a personal verbal discussion with a stakeholder to access their expression before sending a written information. This will help access their response to the information and also they are aware of it beforehand not like it’s sprung up on them suddenly.

  8. I would agree that it is very important not to come to a meeting with a “bombshell” kind of news. A better strategy would be to have managed communication with various stakeholders individually. Some of them may even have some suggestions for you which would form part of the resolution.

  9. communication is a key tool in the success or the failure of any project. It is very important to ensure that while communicating with stakeholders, clients etc, that we are able to extract feedback that will aid in the progress of any given project. in doing this we need to develop different communication strategies such as regular standup meetings with the project team to monitor the progress of the project, write down the plan for the meeting with stakeholders, don’t be afraid to bring bad news and also solutions to issues to the discussion table .

  10. Communication is the life-line of any project. The success or failure of any project is largely dependent on communication.

Also, effective communication will fast-track any project and see to its early completion. It will leave room for little or no mistakes as everyone is carried along to see to the success of that project.

Therefore, to see that a project is highly successful, the channel of communication must be intact.
