In my organisation, not discussing issues at a general meeting works well because if you do, it creates a sense of panic but when you bring up these issues privately, you are better able to analyse it critically and get solutions.
The Communication with stakeholders that best suit my organization; is the four wsys communication, where project manager communicate directly with sponsor/Client, project team members, core project managers in case of multiple project executors, as well as communities affected by by project execution.
I have learned that;
•Regular/daily and honest communication is key in any project management job.
• Plan how your conversation with stakeholders will go and communicate at the right time.
• To observe their responses to know if they may be having cold feet or not.
•Communication also depends on who you work with, eg an analytic person you need evidence to back up.
•Have a realistic schedule, reports should be given by everyone on the team, and not be scared to bring bad news but also with some solution.
•Don’t bring bad news to all the stakeholders at a forum but do it individually before the forum.
Communication is key for every program or project to succeed. It is extremely important to consider all aspects of communication as early as possible in the project life cycle, and recognise that it is not a one-way process and that dialogue will mean that conversations and exchanges will evolve as they unfold.
Communication takes many forms. To be effective you need to consider not only the message you want to pass on, but also the method for communicating. Many factors affect the success of communication, including cultural influences, the mood of the team, the method of communication chosen and the language used.
When communication is effective, everyone involved will align and achieve the goals and objectives of the project.
Implementing a well-thought-out communication plan has considerably increased my organization’s efficiency and production. This plan serves as a road map, directing when and how I communicate important information and strategies. The capacity to communicate effectively is critical for a project manager in facilitating collaboration among stakeholders and the team, ultimately leading to the achievement of project objectives.
Communication with stakeholder is very important and shows how it can have great impact with result. Regular and accurate report helps to communicate with stakeholders and for everyone involve in the project. Also important information to note is how to pass on bad news or give information to stakeholders individually which shows how experience it is for a project manager to be and competent enough in the field.
Communication is the key to any success story or project. A quarterly technical review is held in my job place to ensure that everyone is aware of what each team is working on, and a detailed presentation (quantitative and qualitative) of progress highlights is provided. These constraints can be addressed to prevent bottlenecks.
Communication is a critical component at all stages that cannot be overlooked; information is essential, and it begins with the right communication at the right time.
I have learnt that communication is very crucial and I must not leave any crucial information uncommunicated to the stakeholders. Also, I got to know that I should not be afraid to bring up any issues or problems so that we can solve them as a team. It’s also very important that everyone works in line with the realistic time schedule.
Communicating with stakeholders is as important as the project itself.
Because with constant communication, you’ll get to know the do’s and don’ts in the project and it helps to keep the stakeholders updated with the newest development in the project.
I have never been a PM in organization but the communication strategy I’ll adapt is 4-way communication between the team, sponsor, client and peers.
