Communication is very important as it helps to know if the project is still within the time schedule, that is, a very realistic time schedule. Also, reporting is very important because is one of the key to knowing the stage everyone is on the project and which area problem might escalate. While reporting, in terms of bringing bad news, make sure to have analyzed it all and have possible solutions for it.
All in all, communications is very important.
Communication is very important in an organization, especially giving updates on happenings frequently to your superior and the rest of people involve in the project. This makes everyone involve in the project know the latest development. A variety of communication channels can be used to pass information, such as, emails, meetings, reports, presentation, and also through face to face interaction.
For a project to be successful, it is important for a project manager to get it right with communication. Constantly update the stakeholders about the progress of the project, its challenges, issues that arises and milestones completed. As this will aid their further commitment to the success of the project.
Plan your communications tightly and tailor when your plans when you meet with them. Pass your key messages, listen to their feedbacks and always look for a way to adapt to changes.
Always show you are clear about your messages. Going forward this will ease the burden of smooth delivery on you as everyone will be clear about where the project is heading.
Effective communication with stakeholders is a key component in the organisation where I work. Regularly policies and advisories are communicated to them and in return stakeholders offer insights into potential roadblocks, identify areas where improvement can be made, and guide how to overcome obstacles. This has established a strong trust between the organisation and all stakeholders.
i have seen that regular communication is crucial to all kind of stakeholders and it is the role of the PM to set a communication plan. the PM needs to understand the types of stakeholders that he/she is addressing and the types of information they need. some people are analytical, some are people-oriented, there are also those who are action-oriented and those who are vision-oriented. it is the role of the PM to know what to communicate to those particular different stakeholders.
as PM i need to know the style of communication to adopt.
so communication is very important in project management
Everyone wants to be informed. No one wants to be left in the dark in as much as they believe that they have a stake in the ongoing project or endeavours. As a leader in the educational sector, I have realised the impact of constant communication with all stakeholders -students, teachers, parents, the Governing Council and the proprietor. The style of communication varies for each stakeholder. For the students, teachers and parents, it comes in the form of a bulletin, an announcement and a briefing or a family meeting. Sometimes, the meeting could be informal, semi-formal or formal depending on which atmosphere is conducive to conveying the message. When dealing with the Governing Council and the Proprietor, communication comes in the form of a documented report with an executive summary or brief. Sometimes it could take the form of a scheduled round table conference or meeting, a Zoom or conference call depending on the nature and urgency. It is usually businesslike and on a few occasions informal, relaxed over a cup of tea or coffee. What is important here is that all stakeholders are carried along.
The capacity of a Project Manager is very important, and communication is a crucial skill in project management. Key. It ensures all stakeholder involved duly understands and follows the project deliverables, individual roles and responsibilities.
Projects not founded on the bedrock of proper and timely communication is most likely to fail in the long run. Being a proactive thinker and communicate is very key especially during pre-commencement phases of the projects.
Constant communication with all lines of control that is the stakeholders.
As a project manager you need to keep communicating with your stakeholders to know the project plan and how you are going to schedule meetings to give report on the project progress giving them vital information and also making them understand it.
And as a project manager you need to be open, let them know whenever a problem occur in the project and you should have analyzed the problem and the possible solutions to it.
The strategy of communicating with the stakeholders should be on open ground that to be open and to be truthful as a project manager we should always keep the stakeholders to date on how the project is going and we shouldn’t be afraid of sharing both bad new and good new
But before sharing the bad new we shouldn’t always have a way out to solve that problem
And also understanding as a project manager you’d be able to know where each stakeholder is on. You’d be able to identify each of thier positions if it would help or hinder the project then it would be easy for you to know what they feel like and you’d be able to clear their mind and proffer a solution with face to face discussion incase of those who are not really in for the project or have a doubted mind before they come together for discussions
The strategy of communicating with the stakeholders one on on is better in my own understanding as I feel as a project manager you’d be able to know where each stakeholder is on. You’d be able to identify each of thier positions if it would help or hinder the project then it would be easy for you to know what they feel like and you’d be able to clear their mind and proffer a solution with face to face discussion incase of those who are not really in for the project or have a doubted mind before they come together for discussions
