  1. Communication is the life blood of any relationship, and that includes relationships with stakeholders on a project.
It’s important as a PM to handle communication based on who is before you. How does the person want to be communicated to? How do they want to receive reports? etc.
Something that stood out for me in the video and will be important for my work is not to drop bad news for the first time in a forum. It’s best to reach out to stakeholders individually and relay the information before convening a forum, that way you can manage their responses properly.

  2. Communication is very vital in interacting with people and individuals, not just communication but effective communication, that is passing information to an individual or a group of people the best way you possibly can.
To have a conversation with an individual or a group of people,
It helps to have a clear and detailed communication plan
It is also helps to know their communication patterns if they are action oriented, analytical or People oriented.
It is good to find the best time schedule for all the parties involved.

  3. Communication is very important in any organization or team. Here are some of the ways communication well applied helped us in an organization I once worked with as a project manager:

    1. *Clear goals and expectations*: Communication helped us to ensure everyone understands the organization’s vision, mission, and objectives.

    2. *Collaboration and teamwork*: Open communication fostered collaboration, innovation, and problem-solving amongst the members.

    3. *Feedback and continuous improvement*: Regular feedback and constructive criticism helped promote growth, learning, and process enhancements.

    4. *Conflict resolution*: Effective communication helped us in resolving conflicts and misunderstandings, maintaining a positive work environment for everyone.

    5. *Employee engagement and satisfaction*: Communication showed employees they’re valued, leading to increased job satisfaction and reduction in turnover.

    6. *Customer satisfaction*: Clear communication with our customers helped us to build trust, loyalty, and long-term relationships.

    7. *Adaptability and resilience*: Communication enabled our organization to respond to changes and challenges, ensuring agility.

    8. *Transparency and trust*: Open communication promoted transparency, accountability, and trust amongst the team members, stakeholders, and customers alike.

    9. *Diverse perspectives and inclusivity*: Communication encouraged the sharing of different ideas, experiences, and backgrounds enlightenment, thereby fostering an inclusive culture.

    10. *Continuous learning and development*: Communication supported our knowledge sharing, better training methods, and professional growth, driving organizational success.

Remember, effective communication is a two-way street, requiring active listening, empathy, and a willingness to understand and be understood. And communication should either be written down for reference purposes or recorded.

  4. Communication is key if you have to keep your stakeholder interested in your project. As a PM the communication strategies I deploy are:
    – Project Planning Meeting
    – Project review meeting
    – Project budget planning & review
    – Project milestone and timelines
    – Stakeholders Engagement Meeting
    – Project Joint monitoring with stakeholders
    – Report disemination to stakeholder s
    – Project implementation & Close out Report
    – Project achievement reports,
    – Project Success Stories
    – Email communication
    – Etc

  5. There should be constant communication with project manager and clients/stakeholders. As matter of fact there should be oral and written, because it will foresees and addresses future challenges on the project.

  6. Communication should be in both oral and written form.
It should be written down for planning purpose like a to do list. Each step in a project should be communicated ahead to second, third or more parties or teams .

  7. Constant communication with clients by project managers helps in foreseeing problems among the team. When having conversation with the stakeholders, tailor your communication style to your audience. This helps in effectiveness.

Have a written down communication plan so as to plan how to communicate with each stakeholder at each time, also get feedback from them.

Reporting is key in helping everyone understand the level of progress made on the project. Reporting is done in different ways to different group of audience so, you will need to report to the right audience. Reporting can be time consuming but it worth it.

  8. Effective communication is often a barrier when it comes to managing a project. it is very important that there is a proper communication channel to keep all stake holder informed on the status of an ongoing project.

Also timing is key, information needs to be passed across on time, be it a positive or negative information for a timely resolution and review if need be.

    1. While communication is very key, I find that in the actual process of communication, very subtle cues such as tone of voice, presence, body language and persona, can make a whole lot of difference in the message one communicates and the feedback received in the communication process. Thus, adapting ones style and taking into consideration these subtle cues, can lead to positive outcomes in communication.

Consistent and Effective communication with both clients and the team is essential for a project manager to ensure everyone is on the same page regarding project goals, progress, and expectations. It helps in building trust, managing expectations, identifying potential issues early, and maintaining transparency throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, it fosters a collaborative environment, encourages feedback, and allows for adjustments to be made promptly to ensure project success.
