    A general virtual assistant is one who provides a wild range of services both for business and for individuals. This could be administrative rules such as: mail management, arrangement of appointments, preparation of reports, calendar scheduling etc while a specialized virtual assistant is one who has the knowledge and ability to perform or render a wild range of services but choose to narrow their services in a particular field so as to get to their targeted audience and promote high level of productivity.

    Benefits:

    * Higher income: Being able to charge higher rates for niche/expert services.
    * Specialized marketing opportunities. Having a distinct niche makes it easier for a virtual assistant to stand out from the crowd.

    Challenges:

    *Limitations in finding potential clients; a virtual assistant who has chosen a niche might struggle to find clients who require the particular skills that they have.

They tend to be a one size fits all type of Virtual Assistant. A specialized virtual assistant,is one who has niched down the services they render from being a broad spectrum,to just being narrowed down to their most skillful ones. They’ve chosen doing what they are best at,rather than doing everything.

    Examples of specialization;
    1. Social media V.A: They tend to manage social media accounts,from scheduling posts,to managing accounts, replying comments, monitoring social media metrics,etc.
    2. Technical V.A: They provide technical support and fix technical issues that clients encounter.
