As we talked about before in this module, it’s important for project managers to work ethically. This means doing the right thing, not just following rules. There are written rules and laws, but there are also moral rules and values.

What are these moral rules and values? Let’s break it down with some explanations and examples.

Moral rules are like a list of dos and don’ts for how a person should behave. For instance, one moral rule is “don’t steal.”

Values are strong beliefs that guide how we act in different situations. They show what we think is good behavior. Values can be personal, but they can also be shared in groups like companies. When a bunch of people in the same group share these values, they shape how everyone acts in that group.

In companies, these shared values are super important. They make up the core of what the company’s culture is all about. These values are a small set of important beliefs that don’t change much, and they really influence how people act at work.

For example, The Open University (2019) has some values they believe in:

The value of being inclusive and innovative is a big part of what people do at The Open University. They use this value to make sure everyone can access knowledge through new and creative solutions.

Values and moral rules help everyone know how to behave in a group or at work. It’s good to think about them to understand how they affect the decisions we make when working on projects.

  2. The core values as an Estate Surveyor is accountability, responsiveness, teamwork, timeliness etc. It is one thing to get a contractual job and it’s another thing to deliver it to the taste of your client.

    Ethical Photography: Values related to ethical photography can influence your work to respect privacy, obtain proper permissions, and ensure the ethical use of images.

  4. Organizational core values in my field are vital and fundamental to keep the reputation of the organization. They include: team synergy, transparency and accountability, honesty and trustworthiness

As a graduate of mass communication my work often requires values and ethics and this has bound our careers and shape the communicators all over the world , the dos and don’t and also values and integrity , I believe every one work wether professional or no ethics and values should be applied even personally as humans

  6. Some of the organizational values in my company are:
    1. Teamwork: Shared goals and collective responsibility for best results.
    2. Excellence: Improving on our processes and products to be the best
    3. Reliability: Consistency in delivering on our brand promises.

    These values have helped to influence my work on the project as the collective responsibilities of my team helped us to come together to improve on some of our processes and we were able to deliver on our promises due to these organizational values.

  7. The core values in my organisation are innovativeness,inclusiveness that is bringing everyone on board regardless of their gender,tribe inotherwards not discriminating anyone,effectiveness and integrity that is being honest and trust worthy towards the projects.
