  1. From my experience, I’ve seen that diverse teams really do perform better. In groups like the AMR UNILAG Club and the Millennium Fellowship, working with people from different departments, backgrounds, and perspectives always brings fresh ideas. It helps us approach problems creatively and make stronger decisions.

Of course, diversity also comes with challenges, like different opinions, communication gaps, or conflicting work styles, but once there’s mutual respect and understanding, those differences become our biggest strength. In the end, diversity makes teamwork more dynamic and the results more impactful.

  2. I think diversity functions better than familiar teams cause sometimes it’s easier to assign roles and perform a task when there’s lack of familiarity not that it’s bad but sometimes yes.

  3. i have been opportunied to lead a certain number of persons in different occasions and I agree that diversity in teamwork fosters growth, collaboration and innovations which can lead to progress and moving forward of an a project or a Team.
These person from diverse ethnic groups or tribes or background bring about their uniqueness, their different opinions which launch into a beautiful innovative idea.

  4. From my experience, i will say diversity grooms a better communication between teams which helps the team succeed in carrying out a good project….diversity does improve performance which leads to good problem-solving skill in team…. in diversity teams tend to be dedicated with their project with the right management

  5. Yes, diversity drives collaboration, creativity, and strategic thinking, enabling teams to deliver high-quality outcomes and sustain performance regardless of environmental challenges.
From experience, I was involved in a project team that was tasked with launching a new virtual support program across multiple regions. The team included members from different cultural backgrounds, professional disciplines, and time zones, each bringing unique perspectives to the table.
By combining these diverse insights, the team created an inclusive and scalable program that met both client needs and organizational goals. This collaboration not only enhanced creativity and problem-solving but also ensured that the project was successfully delivered on time and within scope. This demonstrates how diversity drives innovation, quality, and sustainable performance in any environment.

  6. From my experience… Diversity has been a plus in creation of a team to carry out a target .
    Because .
    – lack of the sense of duty is eradicated.
    – unneeded familiarity complex is not present
    – there exist a need to perform to show ones worth.

  7. Yes there’s a big relationship between diversity and performance in the sense that diverse teams have a better performance than teams built on familiarity and it’s because of the respect given off to all strangers alike.
A few challenges of working in highly diverse teams:
–Conversations tend to be formal most of the time.
    –Difficulty in socializing
–Understanding each others behaviour in other to communicate effectively.

  9. From my experience, diversity in teams does improve performance. When people with different backgrounds, skills, and perspectives work together, they bring fresh ideas and creative solutions. This often leads to better problem-solving and stronger project outcomes. For example, in one of my past projects, team members from different cultural and professional backgrounds helped us approach challenges in unique ways that I would not have thought of alone.

I have also noticed that diverse teams communicate better with a wider range of stakeholders because they can relate to different viewpoints. This makes the team more flexible and better prepared to meet client or customer needs. In the long run, it improves the reputation and success of the organisation.

However, diversity also comes with challenges. Sometimes differences in culture, communication styles, or working habits can cause misunderstandings or slow down decisions. It requires patience, good leadership, and strong communication skills to make sure everyone feels included and valued.

In my view, the benefits of diversity are greater than the challenges. With the right management, diverse teams are more innovative, resilient, and capable of delivering excellent results compared to teams where everyone thinks and works the same way.
