  1. Some skills employed to integrate ethical considerations into the decisions made by the individuals involved are:

    2. Communication skills: Karen carefully tested the waters before fully engaging John in the discussion. She didn’t just jump into the discussion without wisdom. By carefully using a joke as a starter, John was ready to accept and work with her feedback.
    3. Collaboration & problem-solving: John and Karen jointly explored options and involved external partners. In project management, there is hardly any lone operations, each memeber of the team should be able to work with each other for the benefit of the project. Their behavior was in sharp contrast with that of William who operated on his own and expected that everyone else would just follow suit.
    4. Leadership: John showed openness to input from a junior colleague. Karen was able to bring up the issue with John probably because there was already a cordial leader-subordinate relationship.

  8. From this case study, there is a clear communication issue. People were not transparent, they were not willing to work together and hence their work suffered. Because Karen was able to bring things in order, they were able to succeed. Team work is always important in any organization. Thank you.

    1. The case study highlights a breakdown in transparency and integrity. William compromised ethical standards by neglecting a thorough risk assessment and presenting an overly favorable report. John identified inconsistencies but faced pressure from William to endorse the findings. Karen’s critical perspective led to a deeper review, which uncovered significant risks that could have undermined the project. To address these challenges, the team engaged a larger firm with the requisite expertise, enabling effective risk management and successful project execution.

  9. From the case study, there was lack of transparency and integrity seen. William compromised on the ethical standards by failing to thoroughly assess the risks involved in the project. John sensed that something was not right with how favorable William’s report appeared and William wanted John to accept it. Karen’s outlook on the project saved the situation, as discussions with John made them take a closer look at the engagement report. Together, they found risks that could have marred the project. Partnered with a bigger firm that had a good knowledge about the project which drove a proper project execution.

From the case study, it shows clearly that there was a communication gap, assumption, lack of transparency on how the project should be done, research not done properly, and lack of integrity. William expected John to accept the feedback wholly, but John was skeptical about it because it appeared to good. On the other hand, Karen saw the damage it will cause to them, though she was in-between the decision to make, but was able to jokingly bring it up with John and have them discuss about it. Handling it professionally by making thorough research, which brought about partnering with a bigger firm with good knowledge and expertise on the project. This singular act shows the value and standards of the firm which were held high to eventually get the project done right.

    Thank you.
