  1. All 6 areas are necessary for my role as a project manager for an NGO.
    Communication skills to relate with beneficiaries and stakeholders, as well as volunteers, negotiation skill as well. Time management skill to ensure tasks are completed within given timely, etc. Personally, I’m working on improving my time management skill. It hasn’t been as great as I want it to be.

  2. As a recent graduate with a passion for driving social change, my professional interests lie in empowering young women to reach their full potential. To achieve this, I recognize the importance of developing a comprehensive skill set.

    In my role as a social change maker, I am responsible for managing projects, building and leading teams for event planning and execution, and fostering relationships with stakeholders to ensure project success. To excel in this capacity, I require proficiency in the six key areas:

    1. Every area of the project management skills are essential to me as a Tourism consultant. However, I can say boldly say I have gain expertise in certain areas.

      I believe time management is one of the area I need to improve upon. Which is why I keep learning, and project management is of the best skill that can help me manage time, cause its not just important to deliver a project, but to deliver it at the right time. Project management is one skill I think everybody should learn.

  4. As an internal control officer in the finance sector, my job requires the following skills which are

    -Communication i.e ability to pass information using the appropriate tool/medium to avoid misunderstanding. Also Negotiation which involves my ability to reach an agreement with clients, and subordinates in carrying out task. Also Ethics and Standard in which here all staff are expected to be professional in their dealings with client and colleagues.

  5. As an Operations Manager, i have realized that the Project Management skills are a part of my daily Tasks. Here is how skills i believe are essential for my Job:
    1. Communication: I have come to realize that Effective and Clear communication with the Team, helps the workflow and avoid misunderstandings.

    As a Communications Associate, project management skills are essential for handling campaigns, content calendars, stakeholder coordination, and crisis communication hence my job requires me to have all the mentioned skills.

    Here’s how the six areas apply to my role:

    1. Communication – My job requires clear messaging, audience engagement, and internal/external communication.
    2. Negotiation – I will need to negotiate deadlines, resources, and messaging with different departments, vendors, or media partners.
    3. Time Management – While juggling multiple projects, press releases, social media updates, and events requires strong time management.
    4. Knowledge of the Regulatory Environment – I’m expected to comply with the internal and external regulatory body in my industry including the media ethics.
    5. Ethics and Standards– I must ensure transparency, accuracy, and ethical messaging.
    6. Continuing Professional Development – The field of communications evolves with new platforms and trends. Therefore, I’ll keep up through workshops, certifications (like Google Analytics or crisis communication training), or networking.

    The Possible Actions I’ll Take To Address Skill Gaps

    – Professional Development: I’ll prioritise joining industry groups, attending PR/communications conferences, or earning certifications can ensure continuous learning.

  7. As an Executive Virtual Assistant, I have realized project management skills are deeply embedded in my daily tasks. Here is how they apply to my role.
    1. Communication- Essentials for coordinating with executives, teams, and clients. Clear and concise messaging ensures efficiency and avoids misunderstandings.
    2. Time Management- Managing multiple calendars, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing tasks requires high time management skills.
    3. Negotiation- whether scheduling meetings or managing expectations, negotiations play a crucial role.
    project management is not a title is a skill set every professional needs. Excited to keep learning and refining my expertise.

    1. I haven’t taken any project management role on but as a social media content strategist, I’d say all skills are crucial, however, the few that stand out for me are:

      Communication
      Time management and
      Negotiations.

  8. For me, the most important skills are communication, time management, and negotiation since they’re key in managing tasks, working with teams, and handling clients.

    I’m decent at communication and time management, but I need to improve on negotiation (especially for deadlines and resources) and understanding regulatory requirements in project management.
