Hello, this module focuses on how to manage projects in a complicated world. The world is changing rapidly and in unpredictable ways. Just consider the changes caused by new technology, worldwide trade and competition, social and political disturbances, and the environmental emergency.
You might think that project management has little to do with these major global matters. However, all kinds of organizations, whether large or small, are impacted by the world they operate in. How a company understands and responds to this complexity influences the projects it chooses to undertake and how it handles them.
This week, we begin by examining frameworks that help us grasp this intricate world. These frameworks guide our actions, responses, and decision-making in the face of complexity.
Next, we delve deeply into various methods and practices for managing projects when faced with uncertainty, instability, and change. These methods include linear approaches and life cycles, often known as the waterfall method, as well as iterative or agile approaches. You will explore the pros and cons of these methods, as well as the ongoing debates about them.
By the end, you’ll grasp how to use and blend these methods effectively to achieve successful project outcomes.
To start off this week, we’re interested in hearing about your experiences. Considering those major global issues like technology, competition, social and political changes, and environmental problems, think about how they impact your organization and the projects you’re involved in.
Feel free to share your experiences with fellow learners in the discussion.

As I reflect on the impact of global challenges on my work, I realize that they have a ripple effect on our organization and projects. Political changes and the environmental crisis, in particular, have made me think about how we can adapt and respond.
In my role, I’ve seen how these challenges can influence funding, regulations, and stakeholder expectations. But I’ve also seen how we can turn these challenges into opportunities by being proactive and innovative.
In recent time, Technology, competition, environmental hazards and other factors largely affect organizational operations, especially as the World keep getting complex. As a project manager (in view) I ought to focus on what these global technologies will bring about impact to my organization and apply it…Also, consider other factors competitive saga and the likes.
Several factors tends to affect certain operations in my organization. A very recent situation was a disaster caused on our advertisement site due to heavy rain. There had to be an impromptu damage control by those on site and I had to give a detailed report on it so as to better prepare for a similar situation in future.
Technology, competition, environmental hazards and other factors largely affect organizational operations, especially as the World keep getting complex.
Often, we have our competitors complete projects before the deadlines because of how invested they are in technology and improvement research, recently we started making investments to meet the evolving technological demands in the Industry, seeing that the number of projects we handled recently dropped because our clients wanted us to deliver like our competitors when we don’t have the mechanical might to march the trend.
Thinking about global issues like technology, competition, social change, and the environment crisis and how they impact my organization, it can be seen that technology is important to our industry or organization. The advent of technology have shifted the world in terms of communication, innovation with the use of internet, computers etc.
Social change and environmental crisis also have their positive and negative impact respectively to play especially in areas of project management.
Competition is however is relevant towards the growth and development of any industry or organization as a whole as it help organization strengthen their strategies to meeting the demands of the customers and clients at large.
When I think about global issues like technology, competition, social change, and the environment, they impact both my work as a virtual assistant and as a flight attendant in different ways.
Technology plays a huge role. As a virtual assistant, I rely on tech tools daily, but I also see how automation creates more competition. To stay ahead, I focus on offering skills that AI can’t replace, like personalized service. As a flight attendant, tech is improving passenger experiences, but I have to keep up with new systems and safety updates constantly.
Competition is another big factor. The virtual assistant market is crowded, especially with global freelancers. I work on standing out by emphasizing my unique skills, like project management. In aviation, airlines compete to provide the best service, so I’m always under pressure to go above and beyond, even during challenging flights.
Social and political changes also affect my roles. As a flight attendant, I’ve noticed passengers are more vocal about inclusivity and rights, which means I need to handle situations with care. On the virtual side, clients often request tasks related to trends like remote work or diversity, so I adapt to their needs.
Finally, there’s the environmental crisis. In aviation, I see how airlines are shifting towards sustainability, like reducing waste on flights, which passengers are starting to notice. As a virtual assistant, I’m also trying to adopt greener practices, like going paperless and supporting eco-conscious clients.
These issues remind me to stay adaptable and keep evolving in both careers.
Major global issues tends to affect organisations or projects with positively or negatively. Technology for instance has a huge impact on everything nowadays. As a virtual assistant, technology is the greatest asset I have that enables me perform my job effectively.
** tends to affect organisations or projects positively or negatively.

Technology plays a huge role in organizations today, and it has also shaped my personal growth in so many ways.
For example, the project management training with DEXA that brings together participants from all over the world, allowing us to learn and work together through a fully remote platform , it’s just been an incredible experience that’s helping me build new skills and also preparing me for success in today’s tech driven world.
We need to keep learning and engage in proper communication to scale through
Global changes truly affect organizations.
To be a good Project manager, i need to be ahead, and be flexible especially when handling matters.
