~~ Thinking about complexity – Discussion

Hello, this module focuses on how to manage projects in a complicated world. The world is changing rapidly and in unpredictable ways. Just consider the changes caused by new technology, worldwide trade and competition, social and political disturbances, and the environmental emergency.

You might think that project management has little to do with these major global matters. However, all kinds of organizations, whether large or small, are impacted by the world they operate in. How a company understands and responds to this complexity influences the projects it chooses to undertake and how it handles them.

This week, we begin by examining frameworks that help us grasp this intricate world. These frameworks guide our actions, responses, and decision-making in the face of complexity.

Next, we delve deeply into various methods and practices for managing projects when faced with uncertainty, instability, and change. These methods include linear approaches and life cycles, often known as the waterfall method, as well as iterative or agile approaches. You will explore the pros and cons of these methods, as well as the ongoing debates about them.

By the end, you’ll grasp how to use and blend these methods effectively to achieve successful project outcomes.

To start off this week, we’re interested in hearing about your experiences. Considering those major global issues like technology, competition, social and political changes, and environmental problems, think about how they impact your organization and the projects you’re involved in.

Feel free to share your experiences with fellow learners in the discussion.

  1. Global changes such as Technology & social and political effect has affected a lot of organization. Technology for instance, has influence the way organizations recruits. For example, organization that usually has ten-men security guards has now narrowed it to five or four men as technology in the form of camera of tracker has replaced the other numbers. In a more positive light, technology has come to ease the work force by ensuring much is achieved within a short while. Technology in a real sense today is one of the greatest determinants of projects.

Technology pushes us to constantly upgrade skills and tools to stay efficient.
Competition demands innovation and better customer service.
Social and Political changes may shift policies, funding, or public expectations.
Environmental crises require sustainable practices in project planning and execution.

In my own view, being aware of these factors helps me adapt faster, plan better, and ensure my projects align with global standards and local realities.

  3. Technology has made everything easier but upgrading is also a must ,as the world evolve we also should technology has created the use of AI this shows we are approaching a good century

  4. Technology :
New digital tools makes it easier to plan the workshop, advertise it, and train participant online. But it also means the project must deal with network issues like internet access , digital literacy , and keeping participant’s data safe.

  5. The changes happening in the world today are fast and often unpredictable. Technology especially is advancing at a pace that can feel overwhelming, yet it has made work faster, more efficient, and more connected than ever before. Also with this, organizations now face increasing competition, shifting social and political climates, and growing environmental concerns. All these global factors influence how we work, plan, and manage projects. Change is a constant thing, the only way to remain relevant and effective is to adapt. As professionals and as organizations, being flexible, open-minded, and willing to learn is no longer optional, it is crucial.

  6. The world we live in has changed a lot, and the only way to stay relevant is to adapt. Working against the pace of these revolutions is impossible, but they can be used as an advantage. Change is constant, and any organization that wants to thrive must learn to adjust and grow with it. The same applies to projects. Adopting these changes when mapping out a plan helps deliver results that speak volumes and remain relevant.

Thinking about how these global issues have affected my organization and projects, technology is a major part of this shift. It has reshaped how work is done and how projects are delivered. Digital tools, automation, and even AI have made work faster and more accurate. While technology has its downsides, I believe it has done more good than harm, helping my organization stay organized, meet deadlines, and work even smarter.

Competition also plays a major role. At times, it can feel like a motivational blocker, but it has pushed my organization to go beyond the average, think faster, develop better ideas, and stay relevant. This challenge has strengthened both organizational performance and project outcomes.

Social and political changes also affect how work is done. The emergence of new policies, regulations, and cultural expectations changes how projects are executed. In my organization, staying ahead requires continuous learning, staying informed, and being proactive. Our innovative and forward-thinking approach has enabled quick adjustments and ensured the sustained delivery of value.

Lastly, the environmental crisis is another issue that can’t be ignored. As a result, our organization has adjusted its mode of operation and the way projects are implemented to protect the environment. This, in turn, affects how projects are carried out, the materials used, and how end products are properly managed. It has tremendously encouraged us to plan long-term, act responsibly, and adopt practices that support sustainability.

  7. Technology is greatly evolving lately and in as much as it has positive effects, it’s negative effects cannot be undermined. The use of AI has made learning easier and at the same time, it has made students lazy mentally as Ai now do all assignment and projects with ease.

  8. For now I will say the life is evolving, technology has improved with Ai making things easy and making people lazy…

  9. talking about global issue yes new technology is Ruining things lately in terms of Ai which is making us to be more lazy on our daily activities which is strongly affecting how our organization runs project well in other terms Ai is good and doing the most job
Competition is a strategy use to market any organization product and services
