Various definitions of the concept of quality have been put forward.
One generic definition (Pass, 2006b) is as follows:
The overall characteristics of a product or service that fulfill the requirements of customers in terms of quality.
This definition aligns with the viewpoint of Joseph Juran, who, in the 1950s, defined quality as ‘fitness for use’ (as quoted in ASQ, 2019).
This definition is largely consistent with the definition of quality provided by APM (2019, p. 214):
The suitability for the intended purpose and the degree to which the output of a process or the process itself conforms to the requirements.

- Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective actions.
- Quality problems should be concealed from customers and possibly managers.
- Individuals are enthusiastic about producing high-quality outcomes.
- Team members do not produce quality outputs without close supervision.

I agree with these terms about QUALITY:
1. Quality should be focused on the customer’s needs.
2. Quality is focused internally.
3. Quality should be considered from the beginning of the project.
4. Quality issues should be discussed openly to find corrective actions.
5. People are keen on producing quality outputs.
Quality should focus on customer needs and expectations. Internal quality management practices can aid in achieving quality, but the ultimate goal should be customer satisfaction. Quality should be considered from the start of a project, and the entire project lifecycle should be monitored for quality targets. Openly discussing quality issues is crucial for continuous improvement, and transparency is key to addressing problems effectively. Many people take pride in producing quality outputs, and team members can produce quality outputs without constant supervision if given the right support and training.

I agree with the following point:
Quality should be focused on the customer’s needs.
Quality is focused internally.
Quality should be considered from the beginning of the project.
The execution phase of a project is the most critical to achieve quality targets.
Quality issues should be discussed openly to find corrective actions.
The points I agree with are;
– Quality should prioritize the Customer’s needs
– Quality is an internal focus
– Quality should be considered from Project’s inception
– The execution phase of a project is crucial for achieving quality goods
– Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective action
– Team members do not produce quality outputs without close supervision
The points I don’t agree with are;
– Quality problems should be concealed from customers and managers: I personally do not buy the idea of concealing such information. The Manager most importantly should be in the know of what went wrong so that possible solutions can be discussed.
– Individuals are enthusiastic about producing high quality outcomes: I also think that not every individual is so enthusiastic about doing things right. Some do it for the profits thereby not caring how well or poorly the outcome turns out.
Quality should prioritize the customer’s needs.
Quality should be considered from the project’s inception.
Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective actions.
Quality problems should be concealed from customers and possibly managers.
As a PM, I strongly agree with all the points with the exception of 6 and 7.
Not all team members are enthusiastic about achieving 100% overall quality output.
