Various definitions of the concept of quality have been put forward.
One generic definition (Pass, 2006b) is as follows:
The overall characteristics of a product or service that fulfill the requirements of customers in terms of quality.
This definition aligns with the viewpoint of Joseph Juran, who, in the 1950s, defined quality as ‘fitness for use’ (as quoted in ASQ, 2019).
This definition is largely consistent with the definition of quality provided by APM (2019, p. 214):
The suitability for the intended purpose and the degree to which the output of a process or the process itself conforms to the requirements.

1. Quality should prioritize the customer’s needs: Understanding and meeting customer needs is a fundamental principle in quality management I can relate to construction industry where at the end of it all you should hand over a project to the client’s full satisfaction
2. Quality is an internal focus: Quality does involve internal processes and standards, but it should always be driven by meeting customer requirements and expectations
3. Quality should be considered from the project’s inception: Considering quality from the beginning of a project is generally recommended through Early identification and planning . A carefully reviewed work plan to a greater extend determine the project success
4. The execution phase of a project is crucial for achieving quality goals: It is during this phase that the actual product or service is developed or delivered, and close attention to quality is necessary to ensure the desired outcomes.

I generally agree with most of the statements on quality, except for the statement that quality problems should be concealed. Open communication and transparency are essential for effective quality management after all a flawed product or service is the last thing you want to be associated with your organization.
In construction, It’s even required to have clients involved in quality management through their representative on site .
I quite agree with the below statements about quality

3. Quality should be considered from the project’s inception.
4. The execution phase of a project is crucial for achieving quality goals.

In addition to to quality being an internal focus, there should be consideration for external factors as well.
Quality is a supreme feature of every project even when it’s just for test run. The quality of a project is also related to the budget, team set up, set goals and PM skill. From the above list below are my agreed list:
1. Quality should be considered from the project’s inception.
2. Quality is an internal focus.
3. Quality should prioritize the customer’s needs.
4. Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective actions.
Every project has its objective and as a result the PM is saddled with the responsibility of making the project a success. The quality of any project cuts across various factors and conditions which must be factored and understood by every stakeholder in the project. Setting up meetings with stakeholder to properly understand these objectives and expectation are the bane to the quality output of the project.
I agree with the following statements about quality;
1. Quality should be focused on the customer’s needs.
2. Quality should be considered from the beginning of the project.
3. Quality issues should be discussed openly to find corrective actions.
Firstly, the customer is always right and creating a wonderful impression in the mind of a customer is very important. So, I think in striving for quality, the customer’s needs should be paramount.
Secondly, I think just like in the example about creating a high quality movie. Quality should be considered from the onset, determining the quality of the projects sets the pace for all other factors to be duly considered even before the project kicks off, E.g.: Budget, Time frame, materials etc.
Quality issues should be discussed freely especially amongst team member so that different solutions can be proferred. In the multitude of counselling, there is safety.
