Various definitions of the concept of quality have been put forward.
One generic definition (Pass, 2006b) is as follows:
The overall characteristics of a product or service that fulfill the requirements of customers in terms of quality.
This definition aligns with the viewpoint of Joseph Juran, who, in the 1950s, defined quality as ‘fitness for use’ (as quoted in ASQ, 2019).
This definition is largely consistent with the definition of quality provided by APM (2019, p. 214):
The suitability for the intended purpose and the degree to which the output of a process or the process itself conforms to the requirements.
Now take a moment to consider the following statements about quality. Which ones do you agree with?

- The execution phase of a project is crucial for achieving quality goals.
- Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective actions.
- Quality problems should be concealed from customers and possibly managers.
- Individuals are enthusiastic about producing high-quality outcomes.
- Team members do not produce quality outputs without close supervision.

1. Quality should be focused on the customer’s needs.
2. Quality should be considered from the beginning of the project.

I disagree with the following statements:
1. Quality is focused internally.
– Quality should primarily align with meeting customer needs, not just internal considerations.
2. The execution phase of a project is the most critical to achieve quality targets.
– Quality should be considered throughout the project lifecycle, not just in one phase.

– Open communication about quality issues is essential for improvement and trust.
4. Team members do not produce quality outputs without close supervision.
– Trust and empowerment are crucial; quality can be achieved with the right processes and a skilled team.

I totally agree with the above/below respons on what quality is in Projects.
I totally agreed with the following statement

Agreeing with the statements above, it is essential to emphasize that emphasizing that aligning projects quality with customer needs ensures satisfaction.
Internal focus should supportexternal satisfaction, and considering quality from the project outset enhances overall success.
A proactive approach in early stagesis equally vital as the execution phase is critical, when this is not looked into in projects, it can lead to delay in delivery.
Open discussions about quality issues gives a uniformed inputs and reasoning towards a desired/delivering a quality goal and focus continous improvement.
Concealing problems jeopardises project integrity.
Trust in team members commitment to quality is cruciaml, promoting a culture where close supervision becomes a supportive measure rather than a neccessity.
i totally agreed with the following statements;
Quality should prioritize the customer’s needs.
Quality is an internal focus.
Quality should be considered from the project’s inception.
The execution phase of a project is crucial for achieving quality goals.
Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective actions.
Quality problems should be concealed from customers and possibly managers.
Individuals are enthusiastic about producing high-quality outcomes.
The two statements I totally agree with are:
1. Quality should be considered from the project’s inception, and
2. Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective actions.
In every project to be executed, it is expected that a project manager should expect feedbacks and criticisms on the project in order to do better or do more. So in essence, it is important to take to consideration on discussing Quality issues from beginning, how to go about it, choosing the right products, and if issues are encountered in the process of executing the project based on the quality of products to be used in that project, it is also expected to discuss them openly to the team.
Talking about them openly within the team members brings about suggestions and contributions which would help correct any issues concerning the quality of the products to be used in the project and quick corrective measures are taken immediately which would help facilitate success to the project.
Quality should be
1. Focused on the client’s need
2. Should be clearly defined from the beginning
3. Execution phase in critical to achieving quality
4. It should be discussed openly
5. It could be achieved with little or no supervision
From the various definitions of Quality above I think quality:
1. Should be focused on customer
2. Should be focused on internally
3. Should be considered from the beginning of the project
4. Should be at the execution phase.
5. Quality issues should be discussed
I totally agree to all the points stated but most importantly, before embarking on a project, quality should be at the centre being that when one’s determination is to achieve quality at the end of the day, the level of commitment and diligence towards the project ahead would be high and top priority.
Considering project quality delivery, the points mentioned here are highly accurate regarding project execution. However, it’s essential to conduct a comprehensive review of these aspects. At the project’s outset, both management and the project manager must prioritize and evaluate the project’s quality. This includes considering the materials to be used and selecting project members dedicated to maintaining a focus on quality throughout every phase of the project. While cost considerations are important, emphasizing the project’s quality is equally crucial for delivering value. It’s insufficient to solely concentrate on minimizing costs; the emphasis should be on delivering a high-quality project to the customer.
Internally focusing on quality is commendable, but it’s crucial to recognize that other factors also contribute to overall project success. Quality considerations should extend from the project’s beginning to its conclusion. The execution phase is particularly pivotal for achieving quality targets. Failing to fulfill tasks assigned to each project team during this phase can compromise the project’s outcome.
Openly discussing and addressing quality concerns is vital. Transparency ensures that individuals are not inadvertently deviating from quality standards. Customer feedback, as well as input from managers, is invaluable for identifying and rectifying quality issues. Concealing quality problems from stakeholders, including customers and managers, can lead to the project’s failure to achieve its intended goals and render both the project and the manager ineffective.
Producing high-quality output requires careful planning from the project’s inception. Some team members may prioritize monetary gains over quality, emphasizing the need for close supervision. Without adequate oversight, the project may deviate from the desired quality standards, highlighting the importance of vigilant management throughout the project’s duration.
Quality should be considered a priority from project inception.
Quality can be achieved through internal focus on outputs.
Quality should be prioritize during execution phase.
Quality should prioritize customer/stakeholders/user needs using their feedback and requirement to better position plans.
The following points are vital for Quality projects to be achieved:
1. Quality prioritized the customer’s needs.
2. Quality is an internal focus.
3. Quality should be considered from the project’s inception.
4. Quality issues should be openly discussed to identify corrective actions.
5. Individuals are enthusiastic about producing high-quality outcomes.
6. Team members do not produce quality outputs without close supervision.
