  1. As a virtual assistant, communication is the foundation of success. I rely on effective communication to manage tasks, collaborate with clients, and ensure smooth operations. Poor communication can lead to misunderstandings, missed deadlines, and frustration, while strong communication skills can make you an invaluable asset. So I will love to improve in my communication skill.

  2. As a tutor, communication skills are essential to pass the correct message to the students in an easy way for them to understand. Severally, I enjoy circumstances when I can negotiate the best timing for a test or an exam with my students which makes them more comfortable. Continous learning and development is inevitable because as much as we are using textbooks, technology advances on a daily-basis and problem-solving is taking a different trajectory. Knowlegdge of code of ethics and regulations in tutoring guides me in when, how and where to draw the line when it comes to interactions with students, colleagues and parents.

As a graphic designer, I’ll examine the six areas and identify which ones are essential for my job and where I need to improve:

    Essential Skills for Graphic Designers
    1. *Communication*: Effective communication is crucial in graphic design to understand client briefs, provide design solutions, and collaborate with team members.
    2. *Time management*: Graphic designers often work on multiple projects with tight deadlines, making time management essential to deliver quality work on schedule.
    3. *Continual professional development*: The graphic design industry is constantly evolving, with new design trends, tools, and technologies emerging regularly. Staying updated through continuous learning is vital.

    Important but Less Critical Skills
    1. *Negotiation*: While negotiation skills are useful in discussing project scope, timelines, or budgets with clients, they are not as critical for graphic designers as communication and time management skills.
    2. *Understanding the regulatory environment*: Familiarity with laws and regulations related to graphic design, such as copyright and intellectual property laws, is important but may not be as directly applicable to daily design work.

    Areas for Improvement
To improve, I would focus on:

    – Enhancing negotiation skills to better manage client expectations and project scope.
    – Staying updated on regulatory changes and industry standards to ensure compliance and best practices.
    – Continuously developing my skills in new design tools, software, and technologies to stay competitive.

Action: Look into basic negotiation techniques and how they apply in a team environment, especially for deadlines or data requests.
    3. Time Management
Relevance: One of the most relevant skills for me. Managing my time effectively is essential when I’m dealing with multiple datasets or tight reporting deadlines.

Skill Gap: Understanding data privacy laws, industry standards, etc.
Action: Look into certifications or short courses on data privacy and regulations relevant to your job.
    5. Ethics and Standards
