Identified Skill Gaps and Improvement Strategies

While I strive for excellence in all these areas, I have identified specific gaps in my proficiency concerning time management, understanding of the regulatory environment, and ongoing professional development. To address these, I have devised the following strategies:

    Enhancing Time Management
Adopt Time Blocking Techniques: Implementing time blocking will allow me to allocate specific time slots for essential tasks, minimizing distractions and enhancing focus. This method involves dedicating uninterrupted periods to particular activities, thereby improving efficiency.
Utilize Project Management Software: Leveraging tools such as Trello or Asana can aid in organizing tasks, setting deadlines, and tracking progress systematically. These platforms offer features that streamline task management and facilitate better time allocation.

Deepening Knowledge of the Regulatory Environment
Engage with Local Building Authorities: Regular consultations with local building authorities will keep me informed about the latest codes and regulations pertinent to P.O.P ceiling installations. This proactive approach ensures compliance and reduces the risk of legal complications.
Participate in Professional Workshops: Attending workshops and seminars focused on construction regulations will enhance my understanding and application of these standards in my projects. These educational opportunities provide insights into best practices and regulatory updates.

    Commitment to Continuing Professional Development

  9. My name is Queen Thompson, a Programs Associate for a local Ngo. The Project management skills needed for my job are:
Communication: I communicate with stakeholders and team members regularly. Stakeholders need to be briefed on the status of the project while my team members and I meet to discuss the scope of the project, challenges, way forward etc.

Negotiation: I’m always in meetings where negotiations take place either for collaborations, partnerships or signing of contracts

Time management: Most of our projects come in milestones hence the ability to deliver on required deliverables is of topmost priority

Ethics and adherence to standards: My work entails adhering to organisational ethics and code of conduct

Continual professional development: with diverse donor programs, I constantly have to develop myself professionally either by taking up courses that are unique to the project or being involved in a project to gain a new experience

My skills gap is time management. Sometimes I find it difficult to prioritize my work due to conflicting deadlines. To close this gap I need to prioritize my work in order of severity. For eg, a task that would affect donor funding to the project would be of topmost priority followed by a task assigned to me by my project manager. Lesser tasks with minor consequences will require me to delegate to my junior colleagues or ask for an extension of deadlines.
