Hello, this module focuses on how to manage projects in a complicated world. The world is changing rapidly and in unpredictable ways. Just consider the changes caused by new technology, worldwide trade and competition, social and political disturbances, and the environmental emergency.
You might think that project management has little to do with these major global matters. However, all kinds of organizations, whether large or small, are impacted by the world they operate in. How a company understands and responds to this complexity influences the projects it chooses to undertake and how it handles them.
This week, we begin by examining frameworks that help us grasp this intricate world. These frameworks guide our actions, responses, and decision-making in the face of complexity.
Next, we delve deeply into various methods and practices for managing projects when faced with uncertainty, instability, and change. These methods include linear approaches and life cycles, often known as the waterfall method, as well as iterative or agile approaches. You will explore the pros and cons of these methods, as well as the ongoing debates about them.
By the end, you’ll grasp how to use and blend these methods effectively to achieve successful project outcomes.
To start off this week, we’re interested in hearing about your experiences. Considering those major global issues like technology, competition, social and political changes, and environmental problems, think about how they impact your organization and the projects you’re involved in.

The world has left the era where man power and only knowledge were the only solution power to manage an Organization or project problems, the world has gotten an era of Technology advancement where a project manager must and should know how to keep records not on papers but on data base documents applications, the world is advancing daily Technological wise and as such a project Manager should not be ignorant of that but rather seize the opportunity and develop his/her skills on that.
Social and political changes and environmental crisis are great determinant of a nation growth or fall, whatever political decisions and actions made in a country would affect the economy of that country, organization and even a project and as such a project manager should know how to observe ,understand the level of economy of the nation and capitalize on that as to make proper decisions for its project or organization growth.
Organizations are usually affected by global factors and issues but as a project manager, you need to be up to date with the issues, planning ways to cease possible ways to resolve these concerned issues so as not to affect the organization
In today’s world where everything is so connected, every organization is influenced by a ton of different global factors. Technology keeps evolving, which can be both exciting and challenging. It opens up new possibilities for doing things differently but also means you’ve got to keep up or risk falling behind. With so many other organizations competing for attention, the company would love to be top in their game which will push them to be more innovative. The world is always changing socially and politically ranging from policies or economic factors and the likes, which affects projects too. With environmental crisis, there’s pressure to be more eco-friendly.

Global issues are being faced by every organization and it’s not avoidable, but these issues enable my organization to recognize and cease new ways of identifying the problem of the society and therefore provide sustainable and lasting solutions to them
In my field, the continuous advancement in technology makes it easier for computing, yet not everyone is conversant, to get in front of this, as a town planner, there is a need to constantly learn about new technologies. The bureaucracies that also come with advocating for the company and considering what the state/ officials consider as acceptable also is one that i keep battling with.
working in a distribution company, i have had to encounter so many factors that hinders or poses a threat to the success of my daily task achivement.
technology has been one factor that has contributed immensely to the ease in operation and record keeping.
Social and Political change affects the smooth running of business when government dont have legalized ways and mediums to dessiminate information to business owners. when they are more keen on penalties than helping citizens identify necessary steps to take discourages the smooth running of my business.
Working in medical field, the impact of global issues such as technology, competition, social and political change, and the environmental crisis have significantly affect my organization and their projects in various ways. In terms of technology, the Covid-19 pandemic has made a lot of innovative ideas spring fort and we now have tele health services, on the flip side, it has also been a source of concern as health practitioners are beginning to worry about the dismissal of man power since the inception of AI, In terms of social change and environmental issues, there is the rise in brain drain affecting availability of some special consultants. In all these challenges, my organization has made conscious effort to consult with practitioners online, do special medical outreaches to raise awareness about the diseases the country is endemic to.
We can not talk about global uncertainty without reflecting on the impact of COVID-19 pandemic that it has caused on projects and changed the way they operate and socialize, and work. Before the outbreak, none was aware of how it was going to affect business and industry operations. During Covid-19 time, there was a time when institutions were obliged to close doors or employees had to work from home through online interaction. This highlighted the need to adopt new technology and innovation. It means that the normal way of operating has changed especially on project performance and project implementation. Therefore, approaches and practices for managing projects had to change from one approach to another.

The global issues mentioned have affected and impacted almost every facet of my organization ranging from
The impact on the education system, school administration, curriculum, enrollment and quality, daily operations, and the rest of it
technology has positively transformed the way school is run and how lessons are delivered, with digital resources readily available. The daily running of the school such as record keeping and information dissemination has been digitalized.
However, competition
gradually affects the number of enrolment in our school which inversely affects the funding.
Quality however is positively impacted by Competition as this gives rise to constant improvement of the quality of lesson delivery, extracurricular activities, and facilities to attract and retain students
Economic factors greatly affect the budget, staffing, and resources of the organization. the economic factor has also affected staffing as a lot of staff request periodic raises in their salary and this affects the morale of the staff.
In response to all these challenges, my organization has adapted to beat the challenges faced and evolved to embrace and welcome the new technologies gradually making their way into the education sector.

Competition could affect project work by increasing the pressure to perform and deliver results.
Social and political change could affect project work by creating new opportunities or challenges. environmental crisis could affect project work by creating new risks or constraints.
To prosper in this ever-changing environment, the firm must know how to maneuver their ways around these global issue and think big.
