Various definitions of the concept of quality have been put forward.
One generic definition (Pass, 2006b) is as follows:
The overall characteristics of a product or service that fulfill the requirements of customers in terms of quality.
This definition aligns with the viewpoint of Joseph Juran, who, in the 1950s, defined quality as ‘fitness for use’ (as quoted in ASQ, 2019).
This definition is largely consistent with the definition of quality provided by APM (2019, p. 214):
The suitability for the intended purpose and the degree to which the output of a process or the process itself conforms to the requirements.

Quality is the degree of excellence of a service or of a product.
1. Yes, I agree with quality to be focused on customers’ needs, because what every customer expects is quality in any service given to them or in any product purchased.
2. Also, there should be a focus on internal quality, as it will help contribute to meeting the quality needs of customers as well. For example, if the employees of an organization are treated well, that treatment trickles down to the customer in terms of great customer service.
3. I agree with this because, for any project, quality must always be considered, if not there will be issues later in the project. For example; making use of low-quality or substandard iron rods in constructing a building, will lead to structural weakness and the building will collapse in the future.
4. Yes, every execution phase of a project has a goal of achieving quality in the project from the beginning of the project till the end of the project.

Quality problems should not be hidden from customers or managers, because it can lead to even bigger problems. Transparency to customers, managers, and even team members builds trust.
