3 experts have described difficult decisions they had to take in one project.
Now think about what was important for them in taking the decision the took. Would they act differently in a different context? Why?
(If you are part of an ongoing PM bootcamp cohort on DEXA, also copy your comment to your group)

The three expert did what they needed to do because project managers are problem solvers in one way or the other.I also believe they would act differently in a different context because every project is unique,as a project manager, you can’t use the same approach to all projects.
The three experts would act differently in a context.Decisions are made based on the project at hand at a particular time.
What was important in taking the decision were;
• Delivering the project at all cost to meet deadline rather than knowing the client’s priority on the project. Delivering a project as at when due and not focusing on how well/how good the project would affect the Project Manager reputation time and resources spent on the project .
Also, conducting a through assessment on the project and effective communication will avoid taking risks
Considering the situation stated by the three experts, the decision they each made was based on the situation at hand. They would have acted differently in a different context. However, it is important to understand the nitty-gritty of a project before expending time and energy on it.
The most important part of managing a project is to deliver at any cost, if it means compromising a bit to meet the standard and quality
What was important in taking the decision were conducting thorough risk assessments and weighing pros and cons with your project team is crucial during planning. Anticipate potential challenges, identify mitigation strategies, and develop contingency plans. This proactive approach ensures:
1. Informed decision-making
2. Minimized risks
3. Enhanced teamwork
4. Adaptability
5. Continuous learning
Also Embracing lessons from difficult decisions to strengthen future planning
Most times Project managers concentrate more on meeting deadlines than delivering a quality work. It’s one of the reasons why projects can be terminated early before completion, though it’s a difficult decision to make.
I believe the speakers would act differently in a different context
If the context were to be different, I believe that the pragmatic nature of a project manager would have made them to adapt to the present context. But with features of openness and transparency, positivism and objectivity, a project manager will be able to perform effectively as seen in the experts’ approaches to the difficult decisions that they had to make.
One of the experts spoke about terminating a project early as one of the difficult decisions she has had to make. I don’t think she would take a different decision because she spoke about laying out all the pros and cons of making that decision and weighing them before making the decision.
I learnt from the 3 experts in the video that
1. Evaluating all possible pros and cons of a projects while creating a plan with your projects team is very important
2. Provide a possible solution/suggest way out of any risk or issues envisage while planning
3.There is always a lesson to learn from any difficult decision made to help strengthen your planning of a future progress.
Different problems have different solutions and the way of handling is different. Communication is key in any given project. Trying to complete a project within the stipulated time and budget is the goal in any project.
